yeah and we can only hope they improve on that, but I realized someone said that it would cost them millions extra just to keep the hand drawn for the show, so its easier for them to do it by computer animation, but im still mad at Disney for replacing the TLK legendary artists of the film and I will be mad at them till they have an explanation for it, history wise

It's not only cheaper but it's not even done by the same studio that did TLK 1, even if it is Disney behind it.
The same is actually the case for TLK 2 as well, which is why its overall animation style and character designs are of inferior quality than TLK 1. If you look closer at it you can see that TLK2 was not done with the same amount of effort as TLK 1, which is why Simba's colour scheme is so royally off and Nala's eyes are blue to mention a few. I remember a few fans back in 1998(myself among them) not liking TLK 2 because it was regarded as a half-assed, cash grab attempt to cash in on the original TLK's popularity by making a sequel that fankly was not wanted, and outright unnecessary.
Which turned out of be true, as it was beginning of the the era of Disney fiascoes, and its Dark Age that continued way into the mid-2000's were Disney would ship out pointless and often poor-quality sequel after sequel, due to the company's CEO wanting a quick profit. Not even it's feature length movies garnered any praise.
To top if off TLK 2 was done by a smaller studio called Disney Animation Australia owned by Disney that animated things related to TV shows and lower budget Direct-to-Video film material. TLK 2 was a Direct-to-Video sequel it wasn't afforded a teathrical run.
TLK 2 actually look a lot like the quality you'd expect from a 2D animated TV show of the mid 90ts.
Just these days everything is done CGI or in Flash to cut production costs and the time spent on animating.

The thing about emulating an animal's real-world anatomy in a character design is balancing the realistic with your creative liberties. TLK was different at the time it was made because its character designers really worked to reflect animal movement and appearance in the film, rather than making things as cartoony as they'd been in past Disney films. But we all know this doesn't mean they were adhering to perfect realism - it's a cartoon, after all. Where they took liberties - making Pumbaa red, giving Rafiki a tail - they did so for a purpose. The animals are brightly colored because the designers wanted to capture and enhance the vivid colors they saw when visiting Africa. Timon is anthropomorphic because it complements his high opinion of himself, and it works for his species. Zazu has teeth because it makes speech easier to animate.
So that's what I'm thinking about when I question why some TLG characters look the way they do. I don't see how beaver teeth or jaguar spots add to the characters' personalities or make them easier to animate. It just seems like creative liberties were taken for no discernible reason, and it seems to go against the ethos of realism that TLK is so famous for.

He sounds a bit auto-tuned, but otherwise not bad About character designs and such... Since they talk a lot about realism and taking inspiration from real animals, every time they get something "wrong" it's irritating. I could let Fuli's design get a pass as a king cheetah, but I really don't see why they've removed cheetahs' iconic "tear marks". If they could just put them back I'd be okay with her. I don't think we can judge character design choices based on their personalities just yet, since we still don't know the characters so well. The fact that Bunga is blue bugs me more than the teeth tough xP As for not getting the original animators/artists back - it has all to do with the studio, the budget, and the fact that those artists have moved on to other things. This is an entirely different type of production and you really can't compare it to a feature film. It's not at all realistic (sadly...) to expect it to hold the same standard as a feature, or to expect any of the original artists to come back to work on a TV show. Heck, the fact that they brought on just one background artist from the original crew is freaking awesome. So they keep giving the impression that they are at least trying (And as a side note - it shall be said - Simba's Pride had a lot of effort put into it compared to other Disney cheapquels.) And on the subject of animators, I still think the heads of almost every character (almost... looking at you Rafiki...) are beautifully done. The lip syncing and expressions are super cool. But it looks like they've put all the effort into the faces and forgotten the rest of the characters, yes xP Puppets, puppets everywhere... It's a shame that the animation is so "uneven".

The fact that Bunga is blue bugs me more than the teeth tough xP I think I'm mostly bugged as someone who works in taxonomy and evolutionary bio XP Gotta say, Kion singing is pretty cute. :3 My favorite thing about what I've seen so far is probably his facial animations.

I do have to say, this is one of the few songs sung by a child that didn't make me cringe. Max Charles' singing is technically sound, and he shows some serious promise. Overall, loved it.

@gothprincesskiara Wow that's awesome! I'm gonna share and tagg the video on FB right away @lyonize As I said earlier, it had gotten a bit too sensetive here, that's why I wanted everyone to take a step back and breath. Obviusly they care about the show, I mean they even got James Earl Jones back. And I took up the case of simba's red mane & pumbas color since people were complaining about Fulis markings, othervise I wouldn't have talked about it. And trust me, I see the funky walk cyckles, but In all honesty I just laught at it instead. It can't all be perfect you know? And like someone said before I too hope that this will be a success so that maby when/if they continue it will only get better and better since they will have more of a budget. Do you guys like the Simpsons? Do you know how they looked in the beginning ? x'D They've come a loooooooooonnnnnnnnggggggg way, and maby The Lion Guard will improve on some aspects aswell (btw I'm not stating that TLG is as badly animated as The Simpsons were in the beginning xD! ).

I don't see how beaver teeth or jaguar spots add to the characters' personalities or make them easier to animate. The beaver teeth is an easy one, I guess you know how Honey Badger teeth looks like, they're freaking terrifying! xD So the beaver teeth is most likely to make the good, playfull and cute guy look just like that. And I do think it's easier to animate beaver teeth than honey badger teeth.

"You need to take your job as seriously as Kiara takes hers." Ouch. Even though THIS DOESN'T MATCH HER PERSONALITY IN TLKII AT ALL OR ANYTHING As somebody with a sibling, I have a theory. Kiara still isn't necessarily keen on her role as princess, but when Kion is around, she acts like she's all about it so that she can compete for Simba's praise. It happens.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. But then I thought if that were the case, Kiara would probably display a little more emotion here. Maybe they'll 'reveal' it later.
Such a modern royal family, having the daughter rule anyway, lol. In fact I think it's more modern than most modern royalties.

Since it comes out today, we should make another thread for all the spoilery discussion. Just so everyone can avoid spoilers if they wish.
