The style is nice, but the animation feels cheap and digital. I agree. Definitely shows hallmarks of being produced digitally. But I think I prefer cheap and digital over cheap and traditional, like the Timon and Pumbaa show. And yes - Kion should be the sensible one. Kiara was the one with a wild side. Feels so wrong to paint her like that.

New Video. There's an annotation at the end that looks like a preview of one of the songs in the show but as I write this post, the video it links to is private.

@zulu I know right!!! I was so mad that they said that. It would have taken like 2 extra seconds to say "Simba's best friend Nala convinced him to come back and take his place as king". But no, let's just cut out the voice of reason and make her just a random, unnamed face at the end of the short as how Simba made 2 cubs. #JusticeForNala #NalaIsATotalBAMF

"Simba's best friend Nala convinced him to come back and take his place as king". Well, Simba didn't really listen to Nala when she said it. It took Mufasa to convince him. Either way, they got their facts all sorts of messed up.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU DISNEY? Well there goes the fame of our lion King world, down the drane, goodbye TLK, everyone hates now (storms off) wHOA SLOW DOWN THERE GPK. It's not the end of the world, now. Sure, it is disappointing that this one clip got a fact wrong. Remember, TLK was 20 years ago, memory is a bit rusty, TLG Likely didn't have that much of a budget, and TLG likely won't be viewed much. Sure, it's primetime and all, but I haven't seen many ads on TV for it and it's hard to know about without doing some serious digging. At this point, television is dead, and unless this goes to Netflix or something, the TLK franchise won't be spoiled for anybody, because people won't be watching it. Anyway, you seem to be very... emotional whenever a Lion Guard preview comes out. Calm down. Don't get this attached to the TLK franchise. Attachments:

No advertisement has been released about it besides what disney has posted on their own sites, meaning people would have to actively be seeking it out in order to even know about it. On top of this, TV recently has been plummeting, and disney has made no indication that TLG will be available on netflix or any similar website. The boat left the shipyard without a hull, basically. There's no way for Disney to make any viable profit off of this, and they sure as hell aren't about to do this out of the kindness of their heart. Face it. This TV Show is going to be pulled after the first season, maybe the second if it's lucky. At this point, i'm just here to enjoy what little of the show will last, and eat some good popcorn while the TLK ship inevitably sinks, leaving only nostalgia in its wake.

ABB, you're coming off as really condescending. I agree that GPK can be a bit... passionate about TLK related things, but your tone comes off as patronizing. I just wanted to mention because I'm not sure if you're aware of that, since it's the Internet and tone is a tough thing to interpret.
Anyways, yeah technically Mufasa was the one who got Simba to finally go back, but Nala did get things set in motion. It would just have been nice to get a mention of her as either that or at least Kiara/Kion's mother xD
And I'm uncertain about the show's future, but maybe the company will be surprised by a positive reaction by a community they were not expecting, much like the brony phenomenon for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Though we are certainly a different type of fan, having grown up with TLK, so the outcome may differ. Worst case scenario, the show gets canceled one season in, and we still have more story than what we have now. It's not perfect, there are a lot of flaws, but it's content coming from a franchise that had long been dormant. So either way, I'm happy.

So the song was good. But I kinda cringed through the entirety of the other video. The animation looks absolutely atrocious. The walking is so awkward and stiff. Not to mention the bad lip synching. Who did they get to animate this? And they made Pumba actually fart. As funny as I would normally find this, it's a little disappointing because he's never just blatantly done it. It was always implied. I posted my thoughts in the skype chat a couple days ago so I'll put them here. I keep having to lower my expectations with the hopes that I'll be pleasantly surprised. So far, TLG isn't living up to the expectations I had considering the diving board they're using is THE LION KING. But I guess we'll find out in a week.

As much as I love those "slice of life" moments, I really hope there's a better overall story arc. MLP has those slice of life episodes, which I love but each season has a bigger story arc where characters are really tested. Ok I'm satisfied with that. On another note, I swear to Mufasa and all the kings of the past, if I hear one more "IT IS TIME!" I'm going to strangle a mandrill.

Let me put a twist on it for you: "What Time is it?"
Notice the capitalisation:D
I think the reason they animated it like this is because it's cheap. And MLP did it, and people praise the animation there. You must admit it does provide very smooth movement. All the frames are being used. Hopefully the motion (and synchronisation with the ground while walking) type stuff as the series progresses. Often, once a show's successful, they can spend a bit more on prettying it up.

Sure, the flash-style animation is cheaper and easier but that doesn't mean it has to look bad. I don't know how you guys aren't seeing this. Look at Simbas walk animation here: Tell me you guys see that too. He looks like a marionette.

I wish I could give you my opinion, but I can't see any of the last few videos as they are region blocked (sheesh, Disney! ><) But based on the last few comments I'm lowering my expectations a bit more now. All I hope is that the movie is at least enjoyable, and that the series can improve in their animation quality as it progresses, which is typical in most animated shows, like MLP, or even very simplistic ones like Adventure Time. They all look better now than the day they began, so that gives me some hope at least that the animation in TLG will look prettier over time (assuming it'll be a success, that is)

So many region-blocked videos... ;__; I enjoyed that interview with Gabrielle Union though. I love that she's an actual TLK fan

Woah Woah Woah PPl, Calm yah tits x'D There have so far not been a single episode out jet, don't judge it so harsly ! Critique is never wrong but I think we must all take a step back and remember that this is a tv show/movie about TALKING LIONS. Just like the movies we love it is not gonna be 10000000% realistic xD Sure bungas teeth is more beever than honey badger. Fuli's markings resemble more a jaguar than a cheetah, I agree. But I think It's time we looked at out own old films for a sec. Everybody, this is Pumba: And this is a real Warthog: Pumba appears to be a bit... altered from the real warthogs don't yah think? Asweel is simba's red mane, the lions blue/green eyes, and Rafikis tail as he is a mandrill and mandrills actually barely have tails. Timon and Pumbas teeth are also way different than their real counterparts so maby Bunga fits right in with them haha. The fact that some styles (of species that have only been background characters in our old films)of the new characters in TLG make people discuraged of the new show is I guess, to be expected. But we must realise that it's completely normal in the TLK franchise since basicly no important character have ever stayed true to their real animal form. And that is a good thing! It's Character design and it's what help us feel that every character is special, unique. As I said Critique is great, especially if it's something you love. But I think we're being a bit too sensitive now. We are not haters here, we're good people that see good in others and in creations. Atleast that's what I think On a side note aswell, here is what I think of The Lion Guard clip where Simba tries to talk to Kiara about what it means to be a queen. - c : First: The show ofc is not completely canon to the TLK universe, I mean it's a show about Kion, a Son simba never had in the movies. So is this an alternative universe? Yes, yes it certainly is. And the characters we remember would have to change a bit to fit with the new once, that only make sense. ^^ Anyway, I think Kiara actually is in character in the clip. And the reson is that if we would mix in logic from the old films (which everyone seem to do already). I would guess this was quite some times after the " we are one" scene, where Simba basically calms her and tells her that ruling will come natural, that it's in her blood. And between that and her hunting scene as a young adult we don't know what is 'in character' for her. We don't get to see it. So maby TLG will be a sneak peak too who she would have been during that time, maby she tried her best to accept her role as future queen? And on a side note I kinda feel that when Kion answear Kiara with a "Happy " I think it is refering to Kiara not feeling free enought in the role of the future queen (something we would recognize from the old films Kiara) , while Kion runs around doing whatever he wants whenever he wants being the annoying little brother he seems to be xD

Nobody is arguing for realism. The character designs are great. The way they're animated just looks stiff and robotic. Particularly the walk cycles.
