Part 2 - The Journey carries on

Daylen shifted and rolled around. The spot where he lay felt uncomfortable, and he wasn't all that tired.

"I'll just go for a walk," Daylen thought to himself, "maybe once i get back I will be tired enough to fall asleep."

The night air was cool and damp. It had just finished raining not too long ago, so the grass and the trees were still wet. Daylen blended in quite well with his surroundings. His fur was a very dark brown, almost black. His mane and underbelly were more of a lighter chocolate brown. If he crouched down in the trees, or long grass, he would be nearly invisible.

"Nothing ever happens here at night," he thought to himself disapprovingly.

He let out a loud roar to try and scare some birds, just so he could see something move.

Sanura had wandered off from her pride, she had been to busy with her nose in the air chasing a butterfly, and being so tired had curled up under a bush, just to have a little nap and then she would go back, back to where it was so boring with the grown ups.

Her eyes snapped open as cold water started pouring down on her, looking around she realised she had slept and it was night time, dark time, things came out at night that ate little tiger cubs like her.
She felt her fur stand up on end and her body started to shake as a loud roar reached her ears and she felt the leaves on the bush start to wobble from the roar.

A little whisper pushed passed her lips heeelpp

Daylen was disappointed. No movement what-so-ever. No birds, snakes, lizards, nothing.

"I'm so bored," he thought to himself.

He found a rather large rock and started kicking it around. He swung his paw fast and got under the rock slightly, sending the it flying high through the air, and straight down into a pond.

"Great..." he sighed, "just my luck."

He turned around and was startled by a rustling noise in the bushes. A smirk crossed his face. He hoped that it was actually and animal and not just the wind.
He crept down low in the grass and slowly approached the bushes. He didn't want to scare away whatever was in there. He was about three feet away when he took a huge leap into the bushes. He was surprised when he landed on something big and furry, not small and scalely like he expected. He quickly jumped off and saw that it was a female, and it looked somewhat like a lion, but there was something off about her.

"Who.... and what, are you?" He asked her, "Are you a lion? I've never seen a lion with stripes before."

One moment she was asking for help, the next something large and hard had landed on her knocking away her breath, while pressing her hard into the ground. Sanura felt like she was going to snap in two and her eyeballs were going to pop out with the force, when suddenly the weight was gone.

Opening her muzzle a little the tiger cub gasped for some air, her ribs were aching and all four paws were sticking out to the sides and her tummy felt like she was pushed into a soft hole in the ground. Slowly she opened one eye first but all she could see was black in front of her, then she opened the other, blinking a few times.
' maybe I'm dead and thats why it's all black' was all she could think of.

"Who.... and what, are you, Are you a lion? I've never seen a lion with stripes before."

Her ears twitched as she heard this strange voice, what was it in front of her. Raising her head and looking up as far as she could, she met eyes staring hard at her.
Swallowing quickly Sanura felt annoyed when she should be afraid.

" Can't you see or something, or are you a bit stupid,? anyone can tell I'm a tiger cub not a lion."

(Yes i know, I just don't think that lions and tigers actually bump into each other much.)

Daylen was thrown off by the way she answered his question. He was suprised that a small cub like that would give him such a hostile answer.

"Sorry, I've just never seen a...Tiger before."

He looked around to see if there was anyone else with her. he took a quick check behind him and to his sides, but there was no one in sight.

"What are you doing out here anyway? And why are you out so late? I'm sure your parents are worried about you"

"Sorry, I've just never seen a...Tiger before"

Sanura let a small grin appear on her muzzle, it was amazing this big lion was afraid of her, she had told him off, which was only what her mother was always doing to her.
"Well now you know, don't you?"

Letting her head fall to one side she watched as he looked all around him hmm wonder who he's looking for . Again he turned and looked down at her and Sanura stared straight back.

"What are you doing out here anyway? And why are you out so late? I'm sure your parents are worried about you"

The tiger cub realised she was alone, and her mother hadn't come looking for her, she didn't even know where she was. Chewing on her bottom lip, she bought up one paw and rubed around the emerald coloured star that was around her left eye, while she thought about what to reply.
"Well, I'm I'm on a journey, I don't know where I'm going yet, so I'll just tag along with you."

(Thats why i made him sort of confused haha =D)

"Well i don't exactly have a destination either," he replied, "I'm just kind of walking where ever i feel like going."

Daylen sat there staring at her. He had heard about tigers before, but never seen one. He found her stripes mesmerizing. She reminded him of a zebra, but smaller, and orange instead of white.

"Do you want me to take you back to your parents? I'm sure they are looking for you right now, and i don't want want them to think i kidnapped you if they happen to stumble upon us."

Sanura stared at the lion, still chewing on her lip,.He seemed ok, wasn't grumpy or scary, maybe he would be better to hang with, then she could go look for her old friends.

" nah you don't need to try and find anyone, I'm always out walking."

Leaning sideways she tried to look around him, but found his large butt was blocking her view. Standing to her paws, sliding a little on the wet ground, she walked upto him about to pass, when her nose wrinkled in disgust.
"eww whats that smell, don't you bathe mister ?"
Not waiting for an answer, she made it to where she could see all around her and listened, her ears twitching..nothing, a smile came to her muzzle and Sanura turned back once more.

" well come on, the coast is, umm what I mean is, we need to get moving."

[blaqk.noise]

" nah you don't need to try and find anyone, I'm always out walking."

Daylen wondered why a small cub would be out walking so late, but he didn't bother to ask. she didn't seem like she was in a hurry to get home anyway. He saw the cub try to look around him.

"What is she looking for?" he wondered.

"eww whats that smell, don't you bathe mister ?"

"she's quite outspoken" he told himself as a smile crossed his face.

" well come on, the coast is, umm what I mean is, we need to get moving."

"The coast?" he asked himself. "Is that where she's going"

Daylen didn't feel like asking her, so he just let her continue.

"Lead the way"

(sorry for the long post:) I'll make it a once off, just because it's my introduction thread.
And FYI: Figgy's a lion that thinks he's a hunting dog. Don't be confused like Figgy is:)

“Oh no oh no oh no, what have I done... Karensha’s going to KILL me.”
Figgy huffed and waddled through the moonlight, nose to the earth, sniffing out the scent of the little cub who had walked astray. He’d been searching for an hour now, with only the barest hint of a scent to follow.
PERHAPS YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE SNUCK OFF FOR A SNACK WHILST YOU WERE MEANT TO BE WATCHING SANURA, THEN.”
That was enough. Figgy slumped to the ground in a heap.
“Hey, it’s not my fault. Karensha’s been starving me!”
He said, catching his breath and staring up at the sky.
“I don’t get it. I’m the one who gets all the food and she doesn’t let me eat more than a morsel. What have I done to deserve this?”
FIGGY, HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR STOMACH LATELY?
Figgy grimaced. Jerry had a point there. There did indeed seem to be some permanent correlation between the size of his middle and how much food he put away, but even though he had slowed with the latter, the former had been growing steadily since he left home with his fellow hunting dogs, all that time ago. Had been growing despite Karensha’s efforts to slow his gorging – he really hadn’t been helping, he supposed.
“But it just seems so unfair... there was half a carcass left!”
MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT FOR AN ANIMAL POORER THAN YOURSELF, HMM?
“Maybe,”
He said with a grunt, pulling himself back to his feet with some difficulty.
“But which animal’s going to be poorer than me, when Karensha finds out that Sanura snuck away on my watch AGAIN?”

It didn’t take him long to find her. His nose rarely failed him. But by the time he did, little Sanura the lion cub wasn’t alone.
A smelly lion hovered all over Sanura. He hadn’t hurt her yet, but if there was one thing Figgy didn’t trust, it was a smelly lion. After all, hyenas smelled too, and he didn’t trust them as far as he could throw them.
Figgy crouched back behind some bushes, which were large enough to hide his tremendous bulk.
“Oh no oh no... what do I do now?”
He hissed.
USE YOUR BRAIN, FIGGY, SEEING AS YOU BOST ABOUT IT SO MUCH.
“But how... ohh.”
Figgy looked up. Extending over the smelly lion was an old tree branch, well rotted, likely hanging on by only a sliver. From it hung a strong, supple vine. One tug on the vine and the branch would likely descend on the lion’s head.
The vine was on the other side of the bushes, though. He would have to be quick. When the lion and Sanura started moving away leapt (grunted, hauled himself) to his feet out in the open, and tugged the vine for all it was worth.
"Ha! Take that, foul beast!"
He said triumphantly. Unfortunately the vine was well-entangled about the branch, and instead of falling straight down, it swung as if the vine was on a swing.
The branch smacked Figgy in his rather large nose, and he saw stars before everything went black.

"Lead the way"

Sanura looked back up at the lion, a small smile on her muzzle.
" So.. you'll follow me, no matter where I go or what I do ?"
Breaking into a small giggle, the tiger cub nodded in front of her, as that was the direction she thought they should go in.
Sniffing the air again as she looked at him, she tried not to breathe in too deeply, while having another thought.
" What's your name Mister?"

Waiting for him to reply, Sanura's ears started twitching, she could hear something, but not being able to see clearly with the dark, couldn't make out what it was. Suddenly a grunting noise filled the air followed by a loud crash and thump and then all went quiet again.

[blaqk.noise]

" So.. you'll follow me, no matter where I go or what I do ?"

"Yep," Daylen replied, "I have no place I need to go."

The tiger cub nodded forward, so he began to follow her.

" What's your name Mister?"

"My name is Daylen, whats yours?"

The cubs ears twitched, she could hear something. Daylen lifted his head up and could hear something too. Heard grunting, then a crash and a thump.

"What was that?" Daylen asked.

Sanura paused with her left paw held up in the air when she heard the crash. She was sure she knew what it was, but didn't really want to turn around and actually see.

"My names Sanura... Daylens a funny name, what did your momma call you that for ?"

Still not looking at the lion, she placed her paw back on the ground and moved forward a little, but then her good nature got the better of her. Sighing she stopped suddenly and turned around so she was standing in Daylen's way.

"I think we'd better go see what the noise was, he might need helping."

[blaqk.noise]

"My names Sanura... Daylens a funny name, what did your momma call you that for ?"

"Well, I've never actually asked her before."

The tiger cub stopped quickly infront of him blocking the way.

"I think we'd better go see what the noise was, he might need helping."

"Yeah, that would probably be best."

Daylen continued to follow the tiger cub as they ran towards the noise that they had heard.

[cheezeegriff]

Figgy lay on his back, his massive stomach spreading out around him, nose pulsing and head spinning like a leaf in the breeze.
"Sstars!"
he managed, voice slurred.
"You really do see stars when you take a knock to the head."
ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT, FIGGY.
"mm... point there..."
he said again, but then Figgy heard footsteps, coming ever closer, and tried to right himself. Being as huge as he was though, righting himself took a fair amount of concentration and dexterity, and after his bump on the nose he had neither. Instead he flopped around on his back like a great fuzzy blob, belly rolling this way and that with a life of its own.
"Oh heck... please don't let them eat me, please don't let them eat me..."
he said softly, biting his bottom lip in fear.

[Dakota]

Karensha woke suddenly from her nap, she was itchy, looking down she scratched at her paw.. had Figgy given her fleas. All those romantic nights and cuddles, she should have expected some of course, he wasn't naturally inclined to bathe regularly.
Stretching slowly her limbs extended, the snow leopard looked down at herself. She had put on weight, alot recently, was all those gifts that Figgy had been bringing her and she didn't have the heart to say no to the sweet thing, besides he said he loved her the way she was.

Looking around her she realised it was too quiet, he had meant to be looking after Sanura, usually their noise broke into her dreams, but not tonight. Moving away from the warmth of their little home, Karensha moved silently into the night, sniffing as she went, she could smell Figgy , you really couldnt miss him.

Sanura moved along slowly with the lion follwing her closely, she just knew it was Figgy, everywhere he went there always ended up some sort of hassle, it was just poor figgy's way.
She had given him the slip when he was meant to be looking after her while karensha was napping, but as usual Figgy had found something to eat, and then he would forget about everything around him, so thats when she decided to slip away and have some fune by herself.

"come on Daylen, it shouldn't be far, yui are about to meet someone..umm.. different"

[blaqk.noise]

"come on Daylen, it shouldn't be far, you are about to meet someone..umm.. different"

"uhh... okay" Daylen replied.

He thought about what Sanura told him

"What does she mean by different?" He thought to himself, "Is he not a tiger like her? Is this person another species I've never seen before?

He continued to think as he followed her, not knowing what he was getting himself into.

The first thing Figgy saw from his upside-down vantagepoint was Sanura walking towards him through the long grass, followed right behind by the strange lion.

"Sanura! Move away from that foul creature!"
he said, pointing, then kicked his legs again and grunted, finally managing to right himself.
"What'd I tell you about wandering off! And you,"
he growled, then pushed himself off the ground with a huff, rising up on all fours in all his immensity. His body shook with fear and blubber as he moved himself between the lion and the tiger cub, but he managed to keep a fierce face as he said,
"If you've touched one hair on her head, I'll turn you so far inside out we'll be able to see what you last had for dinner!"

[blaqk.noise]

Daylen took a long look at the lion. He didn't look like he was in great shape. Daylen looked him straight in the eyes, and he could see the fear in his eyes and knew that he couldn't back up his statement.

"My my, do you treat all of your guests with such hostility? Or am I just the lucky one? Daylen looked down at Sanura, and then looked back up. "And not even a thank you for finding Sanura in the bushes and escorting her back? sounds like somebody need to learn some respect. Don't worry about her though, if I had wanted to hurt her, I would have done so by now.

Daylen raised his head a little and put on a cocky smile. He was pretty sure that he had gotten his message across.

Sanura stood there looking between Daylen and Figgy, feeling a bit amused and a bit angry, couldn't she ever have an adventure on her own.
Realising she had better say something before Figgy poked the new lion, the tiger cub stepped closer and tapped the fat one on the nose.
" Figgy, figgy...down here, look at me."

"He hasn't hurt me, OK.. I was just bringing him back to you and Karensha, cause he looked..sort of lonely."

Sanura moved her head and looked up the lion, grinning slghtly.
"Figgy, say hello to my new friend Daylen."

[cheezeegriff]

"My my, do you treat all of your guests with such hostility?"

"Guest? What makes you think you're my guest? And what'd you say about hurting Sanura?"

A little paw tapped his nose then, and startled, Figgy looked down.

"He hasn't hurt me, OK.. I was just bringing him back to you and Karensha, cause he looked..sort of lonely."

"Figgy, say hello to my new friend Daylen."

"Friend?"
Figgy looked up at the new lion, then down at Sanura. Her words clicked into place.
"Ohh no. He's not coming with us,"
He said, smiling and wagging his finger.
"Karensha and I only just got away from everyone! We're not going to start picking up more wanderers now. Besides, this one smells funny, and he'll just end up eating more of our food."
Figgy ushered Sanura away with one big paw, but siad over his shoulder,
"Ahem... thank you for finding Sanura, but I don't need your help, and she certainly doesn't need your help, but I wish you well. If you see any hunting dogs then don't eat any of them - they might be a relative of mine."
Then he turned to waddle back into the woods.

[blaqk.noise]

"Guest? What makes you think you're my guest? And what'd you say about hurting Sanura?"

"Ah, touché, Don't worry about her nothing happened."

Daylen listened to Figgy and Sanura's conversation. He didn't know much about Figgy and he tried to see if there was anything he could find out about him.

"Karensha and I only just got away from everyone!"

"Just got away from everyone? why would they want to get away from people? I would love it if there were more people around here."

Dalyen continued to listen, but after a while he knew that he wasn't wanted.

"Ahem... thank you for finding Sanura, but I don't need your help, and she certainly doesn't need your help, but I wish you well. If you see any hunting dogs then don't eat any of them - they might be a relative of mine."

Dalyen wasn't sure that he had heard Figgy right. A hunting dog, a relative of his?

"Hey, hold up Figgy. What do you mean that a hunting dog might be a relative of yours?"

[Dakota]

Slowly the snow leopard crept along, her nose twitching at a new scent coming towards her on the breeze, she couldn't hear any noises as if anyone was fighting, or come to that 'trapped', where on earth had Figgy and Sanura gone to this time.

Rounding a corner, karenshas eyes narrowed as she slowed down. There was a male lion standing there stalking the missing ones, was he going to attack ? why didn't Figgy know he was being watched.

well if Figgy's brain is in neutral again, looks like I'll have to take care of this little problem, actually I might enjoy it, haven't had a little skirmish in a while.

Lowering herself down, in she moved closer and closer. Pushing herself up Karensha launched herself at the lion the same time she heard him call out.
what..what.. how does he know their names

"NOooooooo"

Daylen stood still, waiting for an answer. He heard a sound, like someone stepping on rocks. He looked around but didn't see anything, and all was silent again. He got a weird feeling like he was being watched. He heard another sound that made his ears twitch, again he looked around but saw nothing. Again, there was silence.

"NOooooooo"

The silence was broken by someone yelling. He looked to his side and saw a big figure diving towards him. He tried to get out of the way, but there wasn't enough time. the body fell on top of him, and he felt a sharp pain in his back as they hit the ground. He yelped out in pain and quickly pushed whatever it was off of him.

"What the hell was that for?"

[cheezeegriff]

"How DARE you touch Karensha!"
Figgy said, lunging to the snow leopard's defense and putting his huge body between her and the smelly lion.
"Now you've really asked for it,"
he said.

(I know it's short but I just figure that's what Figgy would do:P)

Sanura stood there with her small jaw hanging open. what was Figgy and karensha doing to her new friend. Her eyes widened and head tilted up, she was foolwing something that had flwen off one of them, it looked like. fluff.

Running from where Figgy had left her standing, she stood behind them all and opened her mouth as wide as she could.
"EVERYBODY STOP FIGHTING, HE;S NOT A BAD LION"

[Dakota]

Just as Karenhsa lept into the air aiming herself at the lion that stood there, she realised too late that Figgy and Sanura weren't in any danger, and somehow they knew each other.

Sheathing her claws just as her body connected with the lions she saved any damage from happening to him, but all the same, felt the hardness of his body, took a bit of wind out of hers. She was so used to cosying upto Figgy and all his 'softness' she had forgotten not all were built like her Figgy.

Landing ungainly on top of the lion, she heard him yelp in pain, and then she felt his paws on her pushing her off onto the ground in a heap, her paws were going in all directions as well as her purple fluff was hanging down over her face she couldnt see what was happening, all she knew was that her cheeks were hot and red in colour.

As Karensha tried to right herself she could hear them all yelling
"What the hell was that for?"
"How DARE you touch Karensha!"
"EVERYBODY STOP FIGHTING, HE'S NOT A BAD LION"

Finally back on her paws, the snow leopard shook her head hard from side to side and blew hard to clear the fluff away from her face so she could see what was happening.

[blaqk.noise]

"How DARE you touch Karensha!"

"What are you talking about? She jumped at me! I didn't do anything to her."

Daylen unsheathed his claws. He wasn't sure if Figgy would attack him or not, but he was going to be ready if he did.

"EVERYBODY STOP FIGHTING, HE'S NOT A BAD LION"

Daylen didn't understand why everyone was being so hostile towards him. He had followed Sanura here, and she was unharmed. He had done nothing wrong.
He looked over at the figure that had landed on him. He could see now that it was a snow leopard. Figgy called her Karenhsa, so he guessed that was her name.

"You, snow leopard... or Karenhsa... or whatever your name is, tell him it was you, not me."

[cheezeegriff]

Figgy turned away from the smelly lion. He seemed to be more interested in making excuses than making anyone his lunch, and excuses couldn't really hurt anyone.

Nuzzling Karensha's neck, he said,
"Karensha, are you ok?"
then positioned himself to help her up.
