"I'd choose the path of fire, but that's just me. Fur grows back, water doesn't clear out of your lungs," A female's voice said from behind Da'gasha as its owner approached. A lone lioness had somehow gotten trapped into the labyrinth with the rest of the group, but was just meeting up with them now. She had goldenrod fur, blue eyes, and a brown tail tuft.
Santiago's jaw dropped and eyes widened as he looked up at the lioness, seemingly taken aback by her presence. A beautiful lioness if I ever saw one, He thought to himself as the lioness looked at each member of the group, and then to him. He quickly closed his mouth when he saw her eyes looking at him.
"But that's just my opinion," She replied with a smirk, seeming to have noticed Santiago's jaw dropping. She didn't mind him either. In fact she kinda felt attracted towards him. She chuckled as she circled around the lion once. "Not very talkative for a strong leader, are we? I'm Vanessa, I got lost when I was wandering through the Pride Lands."

Misteeca stood there listening to the stranger, he was comforting in a way, but she also picked up that he seemed to think they were maybe a bunch of nitwits, with not much going for them mmm.. I can think of one person that could apply too, but not the rest of us, looking over her shoulder at lion behind her.
Sighing when she heard the liger tell them all it was probably going to be fire or water that met them when they began to move, she wasn't sure which was worst, she wasn't even sure Liam or Dunston could swim.
About to step up closer to Tefnut, Misty heard another voice, one that was of a stranger. Ears flattened, Misty growled low in her throat, and her claws unsheathed she took a few steps towards Da'gasha. It was another lioness standing there close to the liger, one that seemed very sure of herself. Watching the newcomer Misty looked up at the liger.
"And is this... this lioness with you ?"
Taking her eyes off him, she watched as she stepped past them all as if they were of no consequence and started circling Santiago. Misty's eyes widened as she saw the lion start to blush and a silly look came over his face. Ohh great, he's one of those sort, we just can't win now can we.
"Not very talkative for a strong leader, are we? Misty heard the lioness say.. Breaking into a laugh, she looked Santiago over, "Him... our leader...please... obviously you must be blind as well as dumb."
Turning away and presenting her back to them, she stood once more beside Tefnut and looked up at the large liger..
" It seems we are at your mercy, you have seen our group, we have tried to stay together for protection, but we have lost some"
Nudging Tef gently, she gave her friend a look, inclining her head towards the liger once again.

Tefnut's head swirled around at the sudden voice of a stranger. She eyed the lioness, Vanessa, as she made her way to Santiago. She couldn't help the amused twinkle in her eyes when Misteeca laughed at the fact that this Vanessa had thought Santiago was the leader of the little group.
But her amusement died fast when Misteeca nudged her and turned her attention to more important matters than Vanessa and Santiago, who right now looked like he could begin drooling at any moment - from Tefnut's point of view anyway. "Trial by fire and water..." she muttered as she locked her gaze on the liger again.
For some reason she was oh-so-tempted to say they choose water, mostly because from what the appearing of Vanessa and the expression Santiago had had when he saw the stranger made her think that Santiago would pick what ever Vanessa picked... And Vanessa had picked fire. But she wasn't even part of their group!
She shook her head, pushing her wandering throughts aside. Really, she should concentrate on keeping the group as safe as possible right now. But even she didn't know which one would be less harmful for their little group. She knew Misteeca would follow her what ever route she chose, they had already gone through more than the rest. Liam seemed like he'd follow them too, and Santiago...
She resisted the urge to sigh. It seemed that what ever she did the cause of headache was always Santiago. "I'm not afraid of fire, nor am I afraid of water..." She looked at Misteeca and Liam, then briefly at Santiago before looking at the liger again. "Of the others, I don't know..." She turned at Misteeca. "We will vote. I want everyone to pick one of the two options and tell me why they want to go that way instead of the other." Because really, that was the only way for her to get the tiny bits of information that she needed to know how their group would fare in either of the two ways out.

As Liam observed the liger and the others, he was curious about Vanessa, and he laughed a little to himself at her assumption of Santiago being the leader. Most of what was being said, he didn't really understand the concept, and the fire and water trial bit threw him off. There was only so much the cub's mind could handle, and he had to make a double take, or even a triple take to guess it. As the cub looked at Santiago and Vanessa, he assumed Santiago would follow Vanessa, like how Liam would follow Tef. He did not know whether or not to vote, as he didn't really feel like it was his to decide. He stayed silent, as he wanted to learn the reasons about the two paths, and decipher on his own based on the opinions of the two ways out.

"Nah, I'm not the leader. They found me. And I guess I've stuck with them since. Despite our arguments, I owe 'em for saving my life," Santiago replied with a chuckle and a goofy grin. So much for keeping my composure, He thought to himself as he tried to wipe the goofy look off of his face.
"You should have just shut up and nodded," Vanessa replied with a chuckle as she winked at the lion, obviously enjoying making him blush.
"Yeah? I don't see any group following you?"
"I'm my own leader."
"Ah, nice and independent. I like it."
"Don't start," Vanessa warned with a chuckle as she whispered into Santiago's ear. "You KNOW you're independent as well."
"And what makes you say that?" Santiago whispered back.
"A gut feeling," Vanessa replied before turning and walking up to Tefnut and Misteeca. She looked from one to the other before looking at the liger and realizing what was going on. They're trying to find a way out, She thought to herself. "I'm with you guys now," She said nonchalantly, actually expecting them to say yes. Although if they said no, she had Santiago on her side.

Misty shut out the sound of the whispering behind her, trying to calm her self down, as she paid more notice to what Tef was asking them.
"You want me to choose fire or water ? both are equally as dangerous as the otherTef. It doesnt matter which option we take, we will all have a fight on our hands... but you know I will go with what ever you decide, you know that, yet we need to choose carefully for I would like to protect Liam as much as possible., he's still a cub."
Pausing she looked back at the liger who just calmly stood there, seemingly taking an interest in how they were all reacting, but showing no expression of what he was actually thinking.. Still hearing whispering from behind where Santiago was hiding, Misteeca whirled around snarling.
Paw by paw Misty moved till she was directly in front of both of them. "YOU..you are with us, you say.. thats funny I don't recall asking you to BE WITH US.", Taking her eyes off the newcomer, Misty let her gaze travel over Santiago with a demeaning look, letting him know what was on her mind. " And you... look at your behaviour, I was willing to let your past actions slide, but now, you need to show some respect to yourself and to us as well, carry on like you are , and you can just go to hell, both of you"
Turning away she moved back beside Liam and Tef, keeping her eyes averted from the liger, she let a sigh slip through her muzzle, "I will go where you go Tef."

Vanessa looked up to see Misty approaching her and Santiago. She knew she was about to be torn a new one and just waited to hear what she the lioness had to say. She rolled her eyes as she listened to Misty's rant before standing up. "Fine, I think we will. Come on, Santiago, they obviously don't want us here," Vanessa said as she looked from Misty to Santiago before walking in the direction from which she came.
Santiago looked from Misty to Vanessa, obviously trying to ponder something. He tried to do his best to help, but that usually led to him being yelled at by somebody in the group. He didn't know how much more he could take before snapping. He gave Misty an apologetic look before wordlessly turning and following Vanessa.

Standing like a solemn god this group had come to worship, he watched them talking amongst themselves, it wasn't his place to inject into the discussion any views or directions as to which route was best, others generally didn't like him but if he was asked, he would answer any questions but it seemed they weren't bothered by what may be involved. Indeed he couldn't of said which was better for the cub and who knew what the others were physically capable of... and this new comer apparently wasn't making a good impression on the others accept the lion who seemed taken with her, a chance meeting some might say.
The actions of others seemed interesting to Da'gasha, like he was making a study of relationships, when he decided that the others were finished he looked to Tefnut "So you wish to chance the fire path.. it leads to the north.." and he nodded towards a mountain that could be seen "that is one of the biggest problems...". He fell silent, he didn't think he was gonna be asked any more and he expected that they were going to go on their way.. live or die.. he wasn't part of the group and he didn't expect to be invited with them.

Tefnut was glad she had Misteeca's trust. Truth was she really wouldn't have known what to do if Misteeca hadn't trusted her opinion on where they should go next. Unfortunately though, some didn't seem to think the same way.
Sighing she turned to look over her shoulder at Santiago and Vanessa. His behaviour lowered her opinion about him even more. He was trusting a complete stranger just like that, only because she happened to be a "pretty" lioness who constantly kept flirting with him. She chuckled faintly. It was their own loss if they chose to leave the safety the group could offer. And speaking of safety...
"If the path of fire leads up to the north towards that mountain..." She turned her gaze back at the liger, ignoring the retreating backs of Santiago and Vanessa. "What direction does the other path go into? And..." She paused momentarily, hesitation flickering through her eyes. "We don't know our way around in this place, the trap you showed us before is a good example. I think..." She glanced at Misteeca and Liam. "I think that in order to keep the group safe we would need a guide." She locked her gaze with the liger, waiting for his reply to this. He didn't have to come with them of course, they could go on without him too. But on a way the liopardess was telling him that if he wanted company the group could give him that.

Da'gasha looked back into her face, her eyes were clear, no signs of deceit - it seemed she truly meant her offer to him which surprised him though he did not show it.
After a moment of gazing he replied to her previous question "It leads underground and to the west.. there is no choice on that and water has collected dangerously in places, if you travel that way it has its own dangers different to the other path, maybe easier.. maybe harder.. i do not know what you group is capable of doing.. erm and your cub". He had refered to the cub as 'your' but he had not meant it as Tefnuf was the mother but rather belonging to the group.
A moment more pause he seemed to consider something then spoke quietly "You would wish me to accompany you? you do not consider that I may be a danger to your group?" there was a hint of vulnerability in his voice.

Tefnut listened closely what the liger had to say. So it was either to the mountain or to something that would most likely be flooded. The choises were poor, but since they were all they had they would have to manage.
What the liger said next caught her full attention though. His voice had become quiet and the tone he used made the lipardess flatten her ears momentarily before they moved back to their original, relaxed position. "I've seen a fair share of dangers during my life, and some of them have hidden themselves under something that is quite the opposite from what they look like." She paused momentarily, examining the liger's eyes closely, as if she was trying to see through his eyes what he was thinking. "For now I am willing to take that chance though... We could perhaps get forward for some time... But already coming this far has made us loose dear friends, all because we didn't know what we were facing. Besides..." She smiled faintly, though something in her expression made the smile look more sad than happy. "I know how it feels like to be alone", she said on a quieter voice. "I may not look like it, but my blood is not 'pure', as some would call it."
She paused then, closing her eyes momentarily as she took a deep breath. After letting the air out she opened her eyes and looked at the liger curiously. "So... Would you like to come with us...?"

"Let's see, I'm pretty good with my sense of direction. We should be able to get out the way I came...well, maybe not, but we'll at least be getting somewhere. Unlike your other group," Vanessa explained as she looked around at the inscriptions on the stone wall before finding one that stood out from the others. Literally. A small smile crossed her face as she looked at Santiago and motioned for him to follow. "This block here was the last thing I saw before running into you guys."
Santiago raised an eyebrow and nodded as he followed the lioness, his red mane bouncing upon his neck and back with each step as he looked around and studied his surroundings. He found the inscriptions interesting, to say the least. Then again, he had been relatively bored when the group wasn't busy protecting themselves by fighting off mutant bugs or whatnot.
"How long have you been wandering in here?" Santiago asked, wondering if he was just about to sign the rest of his life away because he was trusting a complete stranger. Yes, some things came slower to the former prince. Maybe it was for the best that he never became king of his father's pride. Then again, try telling that to his parents who had been murdered.
"About three days. I've had ample food and water though, so you don't have to worry about starving or dehydrating."
"Great, what about boredom?"
"...that's another story."

Misty's eyes followed the direction she saw Santiago leave with the newcomer, momentarily sadness flickered through her, oh well I guess it's best, if he's that fickle we couldn't have trusted him to watch our backs... I just thought... pff, doesn't matter now anyway .
Bringing her eyelashes down to hide her thoughts, the lioness looked back up into the Ligers eyes, just watching and waiting for a reply to Tefnuts words "So... Would you like to come with us...?"
Misteeca swallowed slightly nervously, in one way he had already saved herself and Santiago from falling into the hole and certain death. yet he was a stranger, but on the other paw, he had lived in this maze long enough to detect where traps where placed and had some understanding of what the pictures and patterns on the walls meant.
Realisation came into her eyes, and Misty stepped forward closer to Da'gashsa. Tilting her head so she could look directly at him, with her soft voice she began to talk.
"We all wish you to come with us... I fear that we wont make it out of this labrynth alive, we have faced already much danger, lost friends we tried so hard to save, memories that will take a while to erase, if ever" Looking down at Liam, giving him a smile, Misty looked back up to Da'gasha. "We seem to have come somewhat attached to this cub, and if we have to,will sacrifice our lives so he may live, but in saying that he has proved his friendship to both myself and Tef and has fought along aside us....So.. I can't see any possible danger there would be to us all, by having you be with us, as we continue on our journey' and we have to continue, there is no turning back now. Please.....would you come with us, until such time you wish to go your own way, once again..."

Da'gasha listen to Tefnuf speak and then the other female spoke too and he looked uncertain as these 2 females implored him to come with them, this was very unusual for him, hell even one was...
He looked about, perhaps even blushing slightly and then said "I could be your guide... if you have decided where to head to..." he said back to the two females finding this friendliness unfamiliar.

"I could be your guide... if you have decided where to head to..."
Tefnut smiled at the liger, uncertain why she felt glad he had chosen to come with them. After all, she didnt even know him. She thought at first that perhaps it was because they indeed needed a guide, and he was the best guide they could get... But truth is, somehow she doubted this was the whole reason.
"I don't think we'd do all too well with water", she then said. "There are far more many possible dangers hiding in water - crocs, strong flow, cold..." She glanced at Misteeca and Liam. "I don't say fire is any better, but I think we'd do better there."

"Are you sure you know where we're going?" Santiago asked as he and Vanessa passed the same stone outcropping for the third time since they set out on their trek to get out of the labyrinth. Unfortunately, they had abandoned Tef and the rest of that group, so the lion knew rejoining would be near impossible. He looked around at his surroundings before sighing and looking at Vanessa. "I see how you got stuck in here," He said in an unimpressed tone.
Vanessa sighed as Santiago called her out on her failure to navigate the labyrinth successfully. "Yeah, I'm lost. This is great, cause we can't rejoin your group."
"Nobody said we couldn't trail them from a distance," Santiago smirked.
"That's true," Vanessa replied with a smirk as well.

Da'gasha stood there listening as the female cat debated about the dangers in the route before seeming deciding that fire was the least dangerous, it didn't really matter to him which way they took, he didn't know the groups capabilities.
Looking between them and then to the female who seemed to be calling the shots he said "So it is decided? We shall go north?" he awaited confirmation from her.

As Liam listened to Misty, he felt wierd at even being with the group. What made him feel odd was the part Misty said about how they'd risk their lives so he could live. He was a cub, not related to any of the group, nor did they need to save him in the first place. He did not get it, nor did he think he ever would. He looked up at the liger, still nervous, yet grateful at the fact he would help. He didn't care much for his life anymore, as he felt that the lives of others were more important.

Misty swallowed some saliva that had been gathering in her throat when she heard Tef choose fire. well that decision is made then by the looks
Looking up at Da'gasha, meeting his eyes, Misty stared for a second or two, then nodded her head at him " Yes.. we will go north."
Realising they hadn't given Liam a voice in this matter, the lioness moved till she was facing him. "Well, Liam are you going to continue on this journey with us ? Do you think we can all help and protect each other with Da'gashas help ?. Tefnut and myself know we couldn't have a better lion willing to fight with us."
Looking up at Tefnut, she gave a small smile, hoping her friend would realise that she was trying to build up the esteem of the cub, he had great possibilities did Liam.
Blinking, and looking over her shoulder, it seemed a breeze was now ushering itself through the labrynth, making the plants all start to shimmy again. I wonder where Santiago and his playmate are right about now
Bringing her attention back to the cub , Misty smiled when she saw his head nod in agreement with herself and Tef.. "good now we can continue on our journey... are we all ready ?"

The cub's blue eyes were soon meeting with Misty's eyes, and he had been asked a question about if he were to continue the journey with them. Was this a rhetorical question?
He looked at Tef and the others quickly, as if trying to figure if this was rhetorical or not, as his answer was somewhat set on one thing already. Nodding, he smiled at Misty and nodded to give his answer.
His gratitude to them was too great for words; the group had saved him from hyenas when he first got here, he was saved by Abeni when he tried to save her, and so much more had happened. If it weren't for them, he'd be long lost to the afterlife.

"They haven't even moved," Santiago muttered to Vanessa as the two lurked in the distance and watched Tef, Misty, and the group. They had decided to follow the group from a distance because they weren't the most popular lions at the moment, but more importantly because Tef seemed to be able to make a decision and was more than capable of leading the team out of their current predicament.
"Yeah, thanks for the newsflash, Captain Obvious," Vanessa replied as she rolled her eyes and chuckled. She didn't need anybody to state the obvious to her because of her keen sense of observation. Or at least, they seemed to be keen enough if she made it this far without stepping on a trap. Santiago and the group had barely avoided a trap based on luck.
"Sorry," Santiago replied as he looked over to Vanessa with an embarrassed expression. He wasn't too fond of being called out when he thought aloud. But then again, this time it seemed like he was more talking than thinking aloud. Oh well.
"It's fine. At least I have another lion to walk this path with me," Vanessa said with a smile as she looked over to Santiago. "And a handsome one at that." She laughed as Santiago began to blush at the comment. Evidently he didn't get a lot of compliments concerning his appearance. She smirked as she leaned in and gave him a gentle nuzzle while he took a seat on his rump. After an awkward moment of being nuzzled, Santiago reciprocated the action.

Smiling at Liam, then at Tefnut, Misty tilted her head up to look at the Liger again.
"Well Da'gasha, it looks like you just have us three to guide, now Santiago and his 'friend' have decided to do there own thing. We have chosen, our lives are now in your hands, I suppose we better get moving and see what lies ahead for us."
Slowly they turned with Da.gasha in the lead, his size just about taking up the width of the passageway, followed by Liam, then as usual Misty took the rear guard position.
Only once the lioness turned back looking into the maze, hoping that she might see a flash of red.... nothing.... setting her shoulders back, on she moved, here eyes flicking off the walls when something swayed or moved.

"So it is decided? We shall go north?"
Tefnut nodded, looking at Misteeca when the lioness spoke to Liam. She looked at the young lion and smiled reassuringly. Oh she knew he was going to come with them no matter what Misteeca asked.
"good now we can continue on our journey... are we all ready ?"
Looking at Misteeca again the liopardess nodded, turning her green eyes at Da'gasha. But even as Misteeca spoke of Santiago and his new friend, she couldn't help the feeling of being watched. Carefully she took a few deep sniffs, making sure to do this so slow it looked like she breathed normally. Her ears twiched, and only a little bit more than they normally did. Her gaze didn't move, but if she was right and they were being watched, she wouldn't give this away before she knew where said watchers were and who they were.
Tefnut slowed down her pace slightly to walk beside Misteeca momentarily. "We're followed", she said on alowered voice to prevent anyone else from hearing. "Don't show that you know, but keep your senses alert." She paused, wondering if these followers could be Santiago and that... lioness. "I assume it'll show itself, not all can keep following their target for long periods of time without being noticed." Flashing a faint smile at the lioness she sped up her walking again, taking her position slightly behind Liam but still so that she could pounce and take a protective position over the younger lion if need be.

As Misty moved along, she noticed that the floor beneath her had cooled down again and her paws weren't throbbing, even though slightly sore from all the heat they had received. maybe if we ever come across some water other than for drinking I'll be able to soak them..mmm that thought sounds nice..
A little grin had come to her when she looked up to see Tefnut was now alongside. " Good decision Tef, let's hope now we have Na'gasha with us that things will improve" Her smile got bigger " and besides he's big enough for us to hide behind once we push him forward."
Misty's ears pricked up " we're being followed tef ?, I bet its those two twits who thought they would be better off on their own... typical, run and hide and play follow the leader... well we will see what happens I guess."
The lioness was so tempted to turn around and stare she had to force herself to keep her head straight and watch how Na'gasha dwarfed Liam and Tef.

Na'gasha nodded seeing as it was decided which way to go and started leading them along the chosen path, to be honest this was a funny feeling to him being accepted apparently and he did't really know what to make of it. He was big, very big... outside of this place, could they really accept him... he stood out like a sore thumb... he was almost as bad as a small elephant... certainly his size put him at a disadvantage in stealthy hunting.

"Did she just call us a twit?" Vanessa asked quietly as Santiago chuckled and looked to the lioness with a smirk. He could crack so many jokes at the comment that she just made, but decided to go with the more typical response for a situation such as this: "I don't know about me, but you did act like an idiot back there."
"Oh hush up, would ya?" Vanessa whispered sharply as Santiago started chuckling again.
"Sorry, but it had to be said. Alright, I don't care which they use, I'm going to take the opposite one. If they split up, we just wait behind here and follow them after about ten minutes," Santiago whispered as he tried devising a strategy that would prevent them from being seen. Although, considering how unstealthy Vanessa was acting, it was highly likely that the others were on to them.
Oh well.

As she walked along behind the others, Misty moved closer to one side, letting the swaying plants rub against her side. Enjoying the softness caress over her fur she felt herself relax, and thoughts of danger seemed to recede.
Moving her head from side to side to get out some kinks, her eyes drifted up above to the darkening skies. I wonder what is instore for us ahead, whether we will all come out unscathed, Na'gasha I think will be a good fighter, he may look big but he holds himself rather well.
"Tefnut can you see anything up ahead, we should be worried about, it's still all quiet behind us, if you know what I mean" Letting out a small giggle, Misteeca trailed along with the others

Na'gasha lead them along at a casual pace.. everything seemed very normal, rocks, earth.. a blistering sun into the blue sky... but Na'gasha knew otherwise... soon they'd reach more dangerous areas... this was little more than a illusion to put you off your guard... taking a glance behind him he guessed it was working too.

"Tefnut can you see anything up ahead, we should be worried about, it's still all quiet behind us, if you know what I mean."
The liopardess looked at Misteeca with a faint smirk, quickly glancing behind the lioness into the labyrinth to see if she could catch a glimpse of their followers. She could't, yet anyway. "You're right Misty, it's way too quiet behind us..." She lowered her voice so that the lioness would be the only one to hear. "...considering who those following us are..." With a mischievous grin the liopardess turned her attention forward again. "And no..." she replied with a more serious tone. "There's nothing speci -"
Tefnut stopped speaking in the middle of her sentence as she looked up at the bright blue sky with the sun above them. She swallowed and blinked her eyes when her vision threatened to become blurred. It was so beautiful, to see the open sky without any sign of threatening clouds or the darkness of night.
She bit her lip and shook her head, turning her gaze away from the sky and locked at something in front of them. She had sen beautiful things before, and not all of them were as gentle as their looks might have let one believe. The jungle had taught her enough by now, and though she admired the pretty sky she wouldn't let it take her attention away from what possible dangers might lay ahead of them.
"Say, Na'gasha", Tef said with a calm voice. "How long untill we'll come across with something dangerous again?"

Na'gasha turned his head to look at Tefnut, he studied her face a moment and then glaced at the sky momentarily before looking back "You should be careful of being in a hurry for danger... are they really ready... that little cub for instance...". He walked on awaiting a response from her as to her thoughts before saying quietly "Very soon... you should prepare yourself.."
