A Shadowed Past

The lioness had been padding along through the savanna when she suddenly heard a voice behind her. Startled, she spun around quickly to see the form of a male lion before her. He wore a smile and seemed friendly at a first glance. She regained her composure and quietly cleared her throat. "Oh, um, hello." She was glad tohave run into someone, but she wasn't quite sure what to say or how to act.

Bahreeka smiled at Amaiza thanking her for getting the water. She then turned to the cheetah in front of her. "I'm sure Zander will be back with some sort of food in a little while.." She reassured him. "Are you feeling any better??"

Cheabosa nodded slightly towards her, his vision was a bit better, but he was still hungry as water alone wasn't enough, this was quite strange for him, being in the company of others like this, not that he minded.

[Lorien]

Zander smiled as the lioness before him seemed to be friendly as well. He listened to her say hello, and then realized that...well, he didn't really know what to say next. He racked his brain for something to say. He couldn't just come out and say that he had been watching her, he would seem like some sort of freak. But he could use the assistance of an amble lioness in a hunt. Oh yeah! The cheetah, he needed food, and quickly. Racking his brain some more, he tried to think of a way to ask her for her help.

"I'm..uh..Zander." He bowed his head in greetings. "I know this may seem a bit strange, but would you mind to assist me in tracking down some food? There is a cheetah with a group of my friends who is in dire need of nourishment." He looked to the ground as he sat upon it, scratching the back of his head with his paw. He felt so stupid. He then looked back up at the lioness to see how she would reply to his strange request.

[Fire]

(Eep.. Sorry for not posting in a while.. I'll try to get back in without sounding awkward to what the others are doing...o.o)

Fire mumbled something about a couple minutes after Amaiza nudged him, still having his eyes closed and his mouth hanging open a little. "Ten more minutes, mom... I gotta go with Amaiza... She wants to show me sumthin'... No, no mother... I'm not gonna be forever... Sheeesh.. It's not like I love her or anything, mom... Heh heh..."

When he mentioned the love comment, he giggled loudly and anyone passing or looking by could obviously see he was in a happy dream state, his tail flickering about and his body rolling over a couple of timers as well.

Amaiza stood over Fire watching him sleep. "You know.. she should be a comiedian.." She said and laughed as she nuzzled him trying to wake him up.

[Fire]

Fire felt something nudge him in his sleep, stirring a bit and then opening his eyes to see Amaiza over him, giggling a little as he leans his head up to nuzzle her nose with his own. "Hey there, beautiful..."

He then rubbed his eye with his eye to relive them a bit of sleepiness. "How you doing on a fine morning as today, sunshine?" He was feeling really tired, yet really happy to have Amaiza be the first thing he saw this morning. It was kinda weird since he had never felt this way towards Amaiza before, but... he sure didn't want it to go away...

The lioness watched the lion before her. He seemed somewhat hesitant and uncertain... Maybe he just felt sort of akward. She could understand that. He said that his name was 'Zander' and he needed assistance in hunting something for a friend. There were others? Her heart seemed to delight in this thought. She managed a slight smile and nodded once. "I'm Eva. It would be my pleasure to assist you, Zander." She figured that the greeting could continue later as she sensed urgency in this lion's voice. "I've not seen much game around these parts lately though... if you have a lead, that'd be helpful." She took a step forward towards him, ready to follow.

Amaiza smiled at Fire. Well Bahreeka found a cheetah that is in need of food. He is in a very poor condition, and Zander has gone looking for some food. Other than that, I'm great thanks!" She nuzzled fire as she spoke.

[Fire]

Fire chuckled a little as she explained the moment's events, nuzzling back at Amaiza and smiling happily. "Aaall of that happened while I was sleeping?... Heh heh. I must have been dreamin' well then... Care to listen?..." He said with a smile, slowing rolling up so that his stomach was on the floor, his body straight now. "If you want to listen, then come sit and relax.. Might be a long one.." With that, Fire winked at Amaiza and nodded to a spot beside him.

[Lorien]

He smiled, seeing that she was quite friendly, and especially because she didn't think he was strange for asking for her help. But when she mentioned a lead...well, he hadn't seen anything around the area except for when he had mistaken her for a sleeping antelope back in the forested area. He scanned the lands with his eyes, but couldn't see anything. He sighed and looked back to her. "It would seem that there isn't any game around today..." His brows furrowed as he thought of something to do, but nothing was coming to mind.

Amaiza laughed at Fire's actions then sat down next to him waiting for his story.

[Fire]

"Ok then... I dreamed that.. You and I were cubs and I was with my mom. She was grooming me, but then you came along and wanted to show me something Of course, being how mothers are, she didn't want me to leave. I was arguing with her not angrily, but like nicely and stuff.. I kept sayin' stuff like 'I'm not gonna be gone forever!' and then she finally let me go. She said to me 'Go get her, tiger..' and I said back 'Mooom... It's not like I love her or anything..'"

He chuckled a little as he spoke after. "Heh heh.. What's funny was, now that I think about it, I actually had a crush on you back then.. And.. it still in me today.." He blushed a little and then giggled just slightly.

The lioness, Eva, watched Zander. Something seemed wrong. He then mentioned that he had no clue where the prey was at. She lightly bit her lip, glancing around. If only she'd payed better attention to her surroundings! Her mind was unable to recall any prey animals in the area as she was passing through. She didn't really pay much attention to food... "Well, would you like me to accompany you in a search?" Her voice was soft and gentle; she didn't want to sound intruding. Deep within, she was very eager to be around others and so she wished not to miss a chance.

"Aww.." Was all amaiza said after Fire had told her the dream. "How cute.." She grinned at him.

[Fire]

Fire smiled back at Amaiza's grin and nipped at her ear gently, pulling away and then licking it after the nip. "I.. really like you, Amaiza... You're.. so much fun to hang around with and... I just wanted you to know that, okay?..." He said with a little embarassment, hiding it very well though with a smile and just stares into her eyes.

"That's fine with me!" She said and smiled at him. She then looked around and remember the situation. "Hmm.. i wonder where Zander has got to.. he should be back by now shouldn't he..?"

[Fire]

Damn... That didn't work out the way that I wanted it too... Fire cursed himself on the inside, looking around to see if Zander was around. It was peculiar since Zander wasn't near his sight. "Hmmm.. Yeah.. Where'd he go again?..."

Amaiza looked at Fire. "I never said i didn't feel the same way now did i.." She said and smiled. "Chin up.." She said sticking her nose under his chin and pushing it up into the air.

[Fire]

Fire's ears perked up when Amaiza picked his chin up, Fire taking notice to this and smiling happily. It was nice to hear Amaiza say that, his nose nuzzling her own. "Thank you... I think my chin was getting a little low, wasn't it?.." He chuckles.

Amaiza laughed at Fire's comment. "Yes, i think it was.."

Bahreeka looked down at cheabosa again. "Are you feeling alright at the moment?" She said looking around to see if Zander was near with the food.

[Lorien]

Zander smiled and stood upon his muscular legs. "I'd like that, Eva." He grinned as he looked around again. "Besides, two heads are better than one, and four eyes can look over more land than two." Looking in one direction, straining his eyes, he still couldn't see any sign of prey. He then looked back to her. "We must hurry, there's a starving cheetah back at my camp." He looked in the direction of the cave, barely able to see it in the distance. Turning back to Eva, he shrugged his shoulders. "Shall we?"

Cheabosa just nodded to Bahreeka, he wasn't really but he didn't see the point in worrying her, there wasn't much to be done, if the other one didn't get food, then perhaps the great circle in the sky had deemed it his time... a shame really, he had thought he would find a girl some day and settle down... raise a unconventional cheetah family, but it looked like the great sky circle had decided otherwise and he let out a quiet sigh... no-one could escape what had been decided.
He wondered for a moment what awaited cheetahs when they died... he had heard lion tales but nothing for cheetahs... were they unimportant... and he sighed again.

[Fire]

Fire chuckles only a little since he still was feeling the effects of waking up early in the morning. It was hard for him to get up early in the morning because 'his body was saving energy for growing', as his mother would say.. or 'use' to say.

"Hmmmm... I need something to pick me up today.. Food's probably the answer.." Fire looked around to see if Zander was around and that he could organize something. Seeing him not around, he frowned a little. But, his attention to Meri and laughed slightly. "Mornin' Meri.. I'm feeling what your name is.. Merry today." He laughed again and got up slowly. "I've still got the zing in me..."

Bahreeka looked down at Cheabosa, he seemed a bit depressed. "Don't worry, i'm sure Zander will be back in no time with some food.. you'll be fine.. i will make sure of it.. promise." She said smiling at the cheetah.

[Kirsui]

Meri chuckled slightly and turned to look at Fire with a lifted eyebrow.
"Merry, huh?" she asked with a slight smile playing on her face. She then turned to look outside again and her smile faded away.
"I'll go take a walk" she said quietly. Standing up she walked outside, heading towards the small group of trees where Amaiza had got the water. Meri didn't really pay attention to her surroundings. She would be alarmed by her good hearing if someone was about to approach her.

When she reached the group of threes she lowered her head to take a small drink from the stream. When she lifted her head, the tips of her hair were wet, sticking on eachother. She looked at her reflection for a moment, imagining what she would look like if she didn't have that scar, if her right eye wasn't blind.
"I used to have darker eyes..." she muttered, frowning slightly.

She was worried of her left eye turning lighter. Would that eye turn blind too? Would she see nothing on one morning when she woke up?
Meri flattened her ears and walked away from the trees. She sat down on a nearby rock, taking a deep breath and letting the weak wind dry her hair.

Eva smiled at Zander and nodded once. It felt relieving to be accepted by another. She began to take a step forward when Zander mentioned a starving cheetah. "Oh no..." All of a sudden, she felt rushed. "Well, let's try in this direction," and she nodded behind her, "because I was in search of water and I know it has to be in that direction. If there's water, they may likely be some prey animals." Then she turned her lithe body, ready to head off in that direction, yet she waited a moment for Zander.

[Lorien]

Zander nodded, looking to the direction that they were going to go to. "Lead the way, Eva." He hoped she was right, hoped that they would find something soon. The cheetah looked as though he hadn't had anything to eat in many days. He just hoped it wouldn't be too late by the time they arrived with the prey. He also began to think of his own journey. He enjoyed the plentiful animals joining his group, yet it slowed them down quite a bit. He shook his head, getting the thought out of his mind. He shouldn't be thinking like this, he was glad to have the company, and he wanted to do everything to help them as they were doing for him. He looked to Eva and waited for her to move before he took a step forward.

Amaiza watched as Meri walked in the direction of some trees. She got up and ran after her. "Mind if i join you Meri?" She asked quietly. "I could do with a walk.." Amaiza smiled at her gently.

Meri looked at Amaiza as she approached her. She smiled faintly.
"Sure, you can join me if you want to..." she said. She stood up, streched herself and jumped down from her rock.
"Did you have any special direction in mind, or...?" she asked with a lifted eyebrow, still having the smile on her face. She was glad to have company, glad that she nowhad some friends who actually wanted to spend time with her.
Yes, it seemed that she maybe would be able to feel the happyness once more.

"No not really.. just to wander around.. explore.." She said and smiled back at Meri. "And maybe we will run into Zander.." She then added on, looking around in case he was near.
