"Haha. Agh, okay, I'm coming!" Figgy said, then pushed himself to his feet.
It was only a short walk to the water but already Figgy could hardly wait to get in. He'd never been fond of water before moving to the wetlands, but then he'd noticed how light he felt when swimming. The water carried his bulk for him, removing pressure from his spine and his feet and legs. It was heavenly! Although the shock of the cold always made him hesitate at the water's edge.
Like he was doing now.
Figgy looked over to Destiny, not wanting to seem cowardly. So he grinned. "Heh. Nothing to it!" Taking a few shuffling steps backwards, he leapt forwards (slowly) and into the water.
The splash he made was suitably enourmous, though Figgy was unaware of that. Instead he was enjoying the water in his fur, the sensation of weightlessness as he rose towards the water's surface. He emerged a short time later, rolling onto his back, his big, wobbly belly an island between his legs. For some reason this gave him a moment of embarrassment, as Destiny watched him from the shore. Unusual for Figgy!
"Coming in?" he said.

The splash from Figgy entering gave Destiny somewhat of a 'pre soak". Squinting her eyes but with a smile as the water engulfed her head, shoulders and forelegs. She instinctively shook her head free from the dripping water, not that it mattered as she was going to get wet anyway.
"Of course" she said with a flick of her tail.
She slipped into water, a little more petite than Figgy but not without a small wave of water spreading across the surface as the main bulk of her entered. Her paws lifted off the riverbed and a wave of calm (and refreshing cold) travelled through her body. She has had to swim before but it has always been out of necessity and not leisure. This time she could embrace how relaxing it felt to be upright but not bear any weight, it almost felt how she used to be before her pregnancy and the little extra "food reserve" she had now accumulated. Although she calculated she was about half way with her pregnancy, she came to realize just how much different it felt, she light heartedly shuddered at the though of what its going to be like nearer to full term!
She cast her thoughts aside and locked eyes onto Figgy contently floating. Regardless of his own abnormal size he still was a strong swimmer and buoyant (last night proved that). A playful spark ignited in her eyes as she began to paddle towards him. When she got to about a body's length away from him, her head disappeared under the water...
Being this place has almost crystal clear water, she knew Figgy could probably see her, unless the light reflected off it in a certain way to cover her underwater silhouette, but she didn't care. Her inner cub playful spirit was in charge !
She exhaled, letting her body dip deeper so her paws touched the riverbed. When she was almost under Figgy, she pushed her rear legs hard, making her fly up to the surface. She flopped her front half over Figgy's exposed chest (making sure her back half stayed in the water so no pressure was on her belly). She wrapped her front legs over him with a playful growl and a chuckle.
"Pinned ya!"

"Ha!" Figgy said, then wrapped his arms around her. At first he hesitated, but he saw the look in her eyes, the desire for play. It was easy to see in cats, after all. So he gripped her firmly. But not too firmly. "Now what'll you do?"
She felt good against his skin. Warm, where the water was cool. With his back legs he kicked away at the water, so they paddled a little further out from the island. To Figgy, at least, the moment was a piece of heaven.

Destiny felt wrapped up in his embrace, for a split moment she concerned herself that a repeat may happen from last night. But Instead, her body relaxed and she sank into his arms further with a soft exhale through her nose. She twisted her head to look up at the sky in all its natural beauty, while being gently escorted further out in the water by Figgy. It was a fairytale start of a morning.
Destiny simply shrugged, playing innocent and let this moment continue for a short while. That was until her dragging hind legs under the water touched the riverbed, supposedly a shallow spot. Her ears flicked as she let out a subtle mischievous chuckle. That as the only warning, she used the shallow spot to push herself up - and Figgy down, dunking him under the water.
"This, ha!" she giggled, almost cublike.

Figgy did the best to hold on, to drag Destiny down with him, but the giggles were coming too thick and fast. He couldn't hold his breath! So he flailed his limbs about in mock panic instead.
When she let him go he stood up on the shallow bank, breathless and dripping, his usually fluffy fur clinging to his body and all his curves, or bulges, if one was honest. Figgy looked down at himself and realised his predicament, and grinned shyly. Quickly his nose turned bright red.
He could see Destiny looking at him. No doubt this was a side of him she hadn't seen before - last time had been night time, after all. So, with one large paw he flicked water at her.
"You dirty mouse," he said. Still grinning. Nose still red with embarrassment.

Destiny returned a mischievous grin as she got splashed by Figgy. She couldn’t help but see Figgy’s ‘true’ body underneath all the fur. She wouldn’t would lie to herself, it did take her off guard and she couldn’t help but look a little more than usual. It wasn’t in a negative way, it didn’t phase her, it was just different to what she was accustomed to.
She got the sense that Figgy felt a little uncomfortable, she wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words directly to say. Instead, she jumped up and playfully bit the nape of his neck, then flopped back down into the water, rolling onto her back, letting the water carry her.
“The dirty little mouse that isn’t afraid of how big the cat is” she subtly chuckled.

“The dirty little mouse that isn’t afraid of how big the cat is” she subtly chuckled. This put Figgy at ease, at least a little. A lot more than Destiny's stares anyway. So he grinned back, shaking himself and his fur out, but also inadvertently shaking the many hundreds of pounds of blubber beneath his skin. "Good! You can carry me home then," he said, and splashed towards her, looking like he would jump on her.

Her eyes widened with an unconfident grin as Figgy splashed towards her. Although her confidence in trying to actually carry him was understandably low, her confidence in Figgy not hurting her was high, she knew his playful intentions and he wouldn't do anything too drastic. She splashed and flapped her paws, trying to scurry away from the inevitably approaching Figgy. "No no...no-no-no" She laughed.

Thankfully, Figgy was not only huge but merciful; Destiny survived his unstoppable force.
Months passed. The wet season which fed the delta stopped, and gradually the water receded. Where islands were once separated by nothing but water, they were now islands of grass split by dry dirt and stagnant streams. But this brought new opportunities. Grazing animals came to enjoy the grass, and a myriad of predators and prey, more typical of the savannah, came in search of pools of water. Figgy used his old trick, luring animals in with irresistible fruit whose smell carried for miles around. Both he and Destiny ate well, though this time, with all of the big lion's activity, it wasn't his waistline which expanded.
Instead it was Destiny's. The cubs inside grew bigger and her tummy grew rounder. Not only that, but with Figgy's constant supply of delicious meat her curves grew as well. It was hard to tell just how much of her tummy was cub and how much was a result of her new partner's pampering, but she did have little chubby rolls at the base of her tail, and a few more behind her ears. She looked absolutely delicious to Figgy! Though not in the eating way. More in the, I-want-to-wrap-you-in-my-arms-and-never-let-go way. Which he often did, one paw on her belly (when she permitted) to feel the cubs wriggling and tumbling. Though he was aware that as her time approached, she would seek independence more and more. So he always waited for Destiny to approach him.
By the time Figgy had finished his guardian, Zeza, Destiny looked ready to pop! He was down testing his ability to control his bony abomination – making her run to-and-fro in the shade beneath their ever-growing tree – when he noticed Destiny walking along one of the thick horizontal boughs above his head.
“Definitely more than one cub in there!” he said, beaming proudly, as if they were his own. In a way, they were. He’d fed them and kept them safe, after all. Destiny was so wide and swayed so extremely that he was worried she would fall! So he had Zeza follow her from the ground, just in case. Despite this she still managed to look elegant. Like she'd been practicing in front of her reflection all week.

Her ears flicked and head turned from the voice of Figgy's remark. She looked at him with almost shy eyes. It was a little reality check of what she had become all in the name of giving new life to the land. Looking back at what she used to be - skin and bone with just enough energy to keep only herself sustained, to now a vessel carrying who knows how many on board she needed to look after. Over these months it was quite obvious that if she were still alone, life would of been a lot tougher for her, maybe even fatal because of the enemies she had made, she could of even ended up a slave. Although she liked to think of herself as strong and independent, she had let Figgy take her under his wing under these circumstances. She wouldn't lie to herself, she liked the attention in some ways, but still liked her distance when she felt a need for it.
This whole experience was alien for Destiny, she had no idea what an expectant mother would go through and what felt either right or concerning. The only thing that still plagued her mind was back a few months ago when she was Attacked by Hatima, her belly squashed and the immense pain that followed. Since then the pain has vanished and it felt like cubs were ok, alive and kicking (literally). She couldn't help but think something felt off, but she just put it down to worrying too much, and hid it away.
She glanced down at Figgy who bared face full of pride. He wasn't the father, but in her eyes he deserved the title. She nodded and returned a smile. She continued to walk along the branch, even with her current condition, she still did it with a swaying grace . Her legs had developed more muscle to account for her changes and always made sure her claws dug deep into the branch. She soon arrived at the main trunk of the tree then used her claws to slide down the ground. She bowed towards Zeza in greeting, treating her as if she was alive, with how well Figgy had made her, she may as well be !
Destiny walked over to Figgy and brushed against him in greeting. "You better be ready for them too, it's too late to back out now, ha!" She teased.

Figgy watched as Destiny descended. Somehow, despite her size she still moved with the elegance of a leopard! He couldn't help but admire her, and found he couldn't look away.
"Oh, I'm about as ready as any dad. That is, not ready at all," he said, and smiled nervously. How many cubs were inside Destiny's enormous tummy was anyone's guess, and Figgy didn't know if he had the patience a good father needed. But he wasn't about air every doubt on the expectant mother. At least HE didn't need to give birth to them!
"So... do you think a nest is an appropriate den for them? I'm worried they could fall out, is all. Or do you think something less out-in-the-open would be better?" The nature of their tree had provided many nooks and crannies deep inside the tangle of roots that had thickened to form walls of living wood. It was big enough to raise a family. Several families, in fact.

Destiny flicked her eyes over to the opening of the base of the tree.
"Inside would work best, the maze of tight passages and small spaces would feel cosy and secure..."
Her ears dropped a little however.
"But, could I ask a favor ? Not sure if your abilities allow it. Somehow make a small hole to the outside? It only has to be tiny, the size of a beetle if anything, just enough so I can see the horizon outside. A last resort of escape of sorts, It would allow me to see and teleport".
A sudden twitch came from her stomach. She couldn't tell if was her, or her cubs goofing around. Just the thought of having a backup plan made a cloud loom over her. The talk of nesting was another reality check and she couldn't help but think of Hatima. Yes, he surely must be dead after the state Figgy and herself left him in. But what if his pride are now suspicious and are scouting ?
She flinched her head, dispersing her metaphoric cloud and forced a smile.
"Shall we have a look around ? We actually don't explore under the tree as much as above do we? heh."
Destiny turned, brushing along side him before entering one of the smaller openings of the tree base.

Figgy said nothing, just entered the tunnel behind her.
For some reason, Destiny had picked one of the thinner tunnels. Figgy had to squeeze his way in behind his mate. Though Destiny was many times larger than she used to be, Figgy still took the bone when it came to girth. His big round belly scraped at the sides as he pushed his way through, doing his best not to panic, or to worry Destiny. She had her own concerns after all.
Inside was cool, quiet. There wasn't the sound of wind through the leaves above, or birdsong, or the distant calls of animals. All was just wood and earth. Something scurried away under the leaf litter, and Figgy was relieved to find it was a small lizard. Not a snake, like he had been dreading.
The light was quickly lost behind them in the small opening. Thankfully lions were nocturnal, and soon their eyes adjusted. Still, the more the passage twisted and turned, the darker it became. It branched off, too. Though thankfully, their scent trail would lead them back outside easily enough.
"See anywhere you like?" Figgy said, still struggling along behind Destiny's pale, ghostly form. In the darkness it was hard to make her out, even though she was white as a dove. "And... just making sure. You didn't want me to seal you in, did you? Would be hard to bring you food through an opening only as big as a beetle!"

She shook her head "No Thanks, just being in this place alone will be enough"
She weaved herself through the nooks and crannies, looking back now and then to make sure Figgy was still in tow. Even though it was meant to secret place, it's not a bad idea for Figgy to know where she would be in case of an emergency.
Her face was met by a gentle draft coming from a narrow opening between 2 large roots. It felt refreshing and she was drawn to it. She poked her head inside and was taken back by the almost perfect place. A faint glow of light filtered through a spot of thin roots and vegetation from the 'outside world', also letting in a nice draft that would keep her cool. The opening was a bit narrow to get inside though. Her younger non cub-baring body would of slid in easily, but her current state meant it would be a little trickier, but that wouldn't stop her. She gradually squeezed in but making sure not to harm herself or her cubs. After she made it through, she spent no time in clawing and patting the ground to soften it, before laying down with a slight curl. Trying it out for size. She looked through the opening back at Figgy, a faint smile growing on her muzzle "It's perfect" she said softly Her ears flicked suddenly from feeling a kick coming from her abdomen. Her smile in turn widened. "It's seems they agree too" she chuckled along with an escaping purr.

Figgy continued to squeeze along the passages, until Destiny got to a particularly narrow passage he knew he could go no further. So instead he watched her through the passage.
Seeing Destiny curl up despite the bulk of the cubs in her belly was... interesting! Quite the feat, and he found himself grinning at her.
"I'm glad you like it," Figgy said, still smiling, though a little bothered he couldn't follow her. But then he realised something. He could control the passage! All he needed to do was tell the roots to widen and they would. But he didn't force himself in. Instead he said, "Do you want some company for a little longer? Or would you prefer some privacy? Or something to eat?"

She looked at Figgy through the gap, he still had a grin but she could feel a sense of slight annoyance he couldn't follow. After all, this was going to be her private space so it indeed would live up to its name. However, this time around, his large eyes defeated her. "Company and food sounds like a good combination" she nodded with a smile.
She got back up and took a little stretch, both ends touching the confines of the cave. "But its a little small...can you fit or do you want to dine outside ? Or does this Figgy have a trick hiding?" She said raising her brow with a grin.

"Of course I have tricks," he said, winking mysteriously. But if Destiny wanted this space for herself, it was better he left it like that. "But myeah, maybe we eat outside. Could be a little cramped."
With that he proceeded to shuffle backwards, slowly, realising too late there wasn't enough space for him to turn around. Destiny looked at him curiously and he did his best to hide his frustration.
"Sorry. Should have thought of this," he said, reaching back with one paw to make sure he wasn't walking into a wall. All the time he could feel his nose flush with embarrassment. Destiny was looking at him with those big blue eyes, and though there was no sign of contempt, he couldn't help but feel like a circus freak.

She could see Figgy was struggling and looking a little embarrassed, and could not help but sympathize with him. "I'm sorry, it's my fault we are stuck here..." She lowered her head and pushed it under his muzzle. "But I'm sure with such a larger then life body, comes a great mind baring great gifts" She lowered her brow with a confident grin, hoping her confidence would rub off onto him. "Comon Figgy, I know you can figure something out to get yourself out of this literally...tight situation...heh"

Figgy couldn't help but smile, heart warmed by Destiny's encouragement - and the very bad joke. "Sounds like something I would say," he said, then gave her a quick lick on her pink nose by means of saying thanks.
He took a deep breath, let it out and continued to carefully wind his way backwards. It took a long time, but eventually he felt the breeze from outside on his butt, then the tunnel opened up and he trotted out onto the grass and collapsed sideways.
"Phew! Remind me... never to go in there... again," he said, exhausted and breathless, mostly through relief than anything else. Destiny was looking at him expectedly, and he said, "That's right. I was getting food! Eh, just give me a minute?" He grinned at her with pleading green eyes.

Her ears suddenly felt like they were glowing after Figgy's 'Thanks'. "I'll keep that in mind" she winked subtly Her ears then also perked up at the mention of food, but soon fell a little flat. Of course she wanted to eat, but for too long she missed the feeling of earning it. "Say Figgy...." She hesitated a little. "For a change....I want to catch my own meal ? I don't want to offend you and your hospitality....it's just... She lowered her head. "...I miss the chase." She tilted her over towards the horizon, silhouettes of potential prey, dancing in the distance, making her eyes light up and widen in awe. "I'll be fine...I'm sure lionesses are built for hunting, regardless of my...condition. I remember when I was younger back in my old pride, there were lionesses like me, and they still went to hunt...".
She lowered her head again. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling, you probably think it's a bad idea...but I want to at least try. If I feel something is wrong....I'll return." She looked back up at Figgy with a flat smile and a straight confident brow. In most ways she wasn't asking for permission, she was her own boss. But she felt it was right to talk to him about it. After all, he was part of her life now.

"What?" Figgy said, sitting up. "You want to go out there and catch food? Like an animal??" The look of horror melted away quickly, and Figgy smiled facetiously. "I don't mind, really. But... are you sure it's safe?" He got up with a grunt, waddling over to her side. "I mean... that looks like a LOT of cubs. Are you sure they'll be ok?" Not to mention how plump Destiny had become, for lack of a more polite term. Not that it bothered Figgy at all. Just that she no longer looked like the type to be running after buffalo. "At least make sure it's nothing to big. A gazelle or something? No going after elephants or hippos," he said, winking. "Also I'm coming with you. From a strategically safe distance!"

"That's what a had in mind" she chuckled subtly. A wave of small relief brushed over her. She would of went regardless of Figgy's opinion, but to have his 'blessing' so to speak, made this alot nicer and guilt free. For once Destiny would be the one supplying food, it felt refreshing.
"and that's fine, kind of good to know someone has my back if I bite off more than I can chew so to speak, ha!" she scoffed.
Soon enough she started to make tracks away from the tree, her whiskers flickered in the breeze giving her the direction of downwind, she then altered her course slightly. She glanced back to see where Figgy was.

Figgy watched Destiny leave for a moment, giving her a head start and admiring her elegance, even despite her size. He took one step to follow but then had another idea, and turned around back to the tree.
Moments later he was following, but not on foot. Well, not on his own feet. Instead he sat on the back of Zeza, one leg on either side, forepaws gripping tightly to a rope of vine that extended out of her mouth as the mass of bones paced across the landscape. He grinned at Destiny way up ahead, too far to call out to, at least without frightening away any potential wildlife.
Figgy knew he must be an odd sight, righting a crocodile made of bone and plant. But he was faster on Zeza than he was on his own two feet. "This is going to be fun," he said to himself.

It had been a while, Destiny had been keeping herself occupied with tracking down a reasonably sized small antelope. It seemed lost, wandering aimlessly around, maybe a juvenile that had lost it's family ? Sad assumptions aside, it was an easy meal. She was an apex predator and it's survival of the fittest that her instinctive urges were telling her. She had kept low in the long grass all this time, tracking its movements while herself keeping hidden. The wind was on her side too, keeping her scent downwind. The small antelope stopped for a while, standing in an open area, free of any any grass, just the flat and dry plains.
Right now she could use one of her powers to her advantage for an easy kill. Though for some reason, this time she wanted to do it naturally, she wanted the excitement and challenge.
She had now got close enough to pouncing range, she gently clawed the ground in anticipation and excitement. This was it, this was going to be her kill.
What happened next was so fast. She leapt out of the grass and straight towards the Antelope out in the open plains. All of a sudden a startled fully grown Zebra seem to of came out of nowhere! She was that transfixed on the antelope that she wasn't aware of her other surroundings ! Neither was this Zebra, it had ran out right infront of her!
Something triggered in her brain, the sight of such a large and filling meal darting out right infront of her made her change her direction. Without thinking of the potential consequences, she went after the Zebra instead! She didn't think of the fact she was just one Lioness with a slight disadvantage of being pregnant against a fully grown adult Zebra with a kick that could break bones. She didn't think of the assurance she had gave Figgy that she wouldn't go after something big. For her, her instincts took control of her reasonable judgement.
Being that the Zebra hadn't had chance to get up to speed, it only took a couple of long leaps and Destiny was in range of its neck. She took one final push of her rear legs and sank her jaws deep into the Zebra's neck while wrapping her front paws around it. Still having the mentality that she was still a smaller Lioness, she thought she may not have the weight needed to bring the zebra down. However, the Zebra soon crashed down like a rock in water. Her cubs and eating well had given her a more of a weight advantage than she had realised.
Both her and the Zebra slid across the dry earth, kicking up a cloud of dust of dirt. Her Jaws and claws still deep inside the neck and hanging on for dear life, but ironically it was all for taking the life away from this Zebra. The Zebra struggled which just made her sink her teeth in deeper and coiled her body around it, digging her hind claws in its rump to stop it from squirming as much.
The Zebra's retaliations started to grow weaker. It was looking hopeful that this was Her and Figgy's next meal. For the first time she soon will have killed prey that was bigger than her, by herself and using no powers....dang it felt good!

Figgy watched the scuffle from a good long distance, downwind to make sure his scent didn't expose him - or Zeza, for that matter. It was good to be away from the tree! The change of scenery was nice, however mild, and knowing he could now ride and control Zeza enough to carry him made him feel more free.
Of course, the good feelings turned to one of complete dread when he saw Destiny chasing the zebra. She looked so small next to it, her white coat flickering with camouflage. She looked even smaller clinging to its neck, and Figgy's panic spiked so steeply he lost control of his bony mount - but only for a moment. A few seconds later he took off across the dry floodplains, belly and flanks bouncing as his bony monstrosity of a mount flicked up dust and dirt in his wake.
When he arrived the task was done. Destiny was clinging to the zebra's side, still trying to keep it down. Her coat had also taken on the zebra's black stripes.
"Well! Look who's dressing like dinner," Figgy said, grinning wryly. "I'm not really sure who looks more delicious!" There was something almost comical about his big-bellied mate clinging to the zebra's neck, but the ferocity on her face... that really was something to behold. It was clear she was lost in the hunt, and so Figgy pulled Zeza up short of pouncing distance. "So, you want a hand with this part? Or do it yourself?" He looked at the zebra, the panic in its eyes as its life faded.

Soon enough the Zebra was lifeless. Destiny's quickened breathing from the hunt started to slow and return to normal. Though her body was still experiencing a somewhat blissful adrenaline rush. She done this by herself. For a lioness that had taken a life, she never felt so alive, ironically. She stared at her kill with a proud and almost possessive smirk. "Well..I started the hunt, It would be rude not to finish it" she scoffed. "Besides, it's about time I looked after you, after all this time you have looked after me." She nodded to herself. This Vibe Destiny gave off was somewhat different, her voice was a lower 'rough and ready' feel.
Without giving it a second thought, she grabbed the Zebra by the neck and started to Drag it along the ground.
She quickly realised that this lump of a Zebra soon started to feel heavier the more she dragged it. But she continued, like she didn't want to embarrass herself. Her mind was still wired into the kill, it's like she wanted to prove to herself...and Figgy, that she still is every bit of a lioness that can support and provide.
A little time passed, and things didn't improve, Destiny struggled further which each passing moment, but not for one of them moments wanted to hint for any help from Figgy. Still in her mind -she- wanted to do this from start to finish.
Her legs trembled and slid on the dry ground. Her eyes constantly locked on the zebra which her jaw still firmly latch into its neck. She kept on going, like it was turning into something now obsessive. She covered her struggles with 'confident' growls and huffs.
They were just over half way back, but it was only a matter of time. Her legs buckled and she collapsed onto the floor with a defeated growl, followed by a heavy pant. She managed to roll on her side at least, and for the first time since the kill, she gave Figgy Eye contact. Her narrow eyes soon widened and glistened, before looking away slightly shameful and clawing the dirt. She didn't know what was going on in her mind...well she did. She was just in denial.

"Hey! You took a zebra down all by yourself. While nearly full term pregnant with several cubs. That's no mean feat!" Figgy said. He hopped down off the back of Zeza and waddled over to comfort his mate, running his bulging flank against hers, which was still bulgy, though not quite as extreme as his. "You're going to be a wonderful mother, you know," he said, giving her a lick up one plump cheek. "And I'M going to be a wonderful dad. And mate. Here, hop on Zeza. She can take us all home." With that he turned and stood beside the skeletal, vine-powered crocodile and offered his paw to help her up.
