The King of the River Delta Pride has a very valuable artefact
An object of power has been passed on for 7 generations in the River Delta Pride: A gem-encrusted Giraffe Skull, often called "The Crown of the Savannah," was long ago forged for the powerful lion king Mansa Musa by a tribe of monkeys who were grateful for his defense of their tribe. The skull is inladen with various rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and two large diamonds for the eyes. Ever since this item was forged and placed in the paws of the Musa dynasty, the River Delta Pride has never had to deal with famine, drought, or pestilence: and their power only grows each year.
Naturally, many lions are suspicious. Does "Crown of the Savannah" have magical powers?
All you know is that your player wants it
You get to decide your motivations. Do you want it for payment from a foreign king? For your own personal power? Or do you not believe in its magic, and simply want a nice piece for your den? The more characters with conflicting motivations, the better.
Because at the end of the day, the "Crown of the Savannah" can only go to one lion or lioness.
Format:
I will play the NPCs, including the king, guards, citizens of the River Delta pride that aren't player characters (though you can take control of citizens to speed up the RP). Each NPC will have no idea of the motivations of other NPCs or player characters unless they are somehow revealed. Bear in mind however, King Kafa Musa is a very, very suspicious man, and he will keep tabs on anyone he considers a threat.
You can play any character you come up with, with any motivation for stealing the skull you want. Bear in mind that once this artefact is stolen, you will need to compete with other players to bring it back to your turf. Player on Player conflict will be managed with random dice rolls which I will perform upon a player saying he's making a strike.
This RP is all about social maneuvering, mistrust, and intrigue- Social maneuvering is highly encouraged. After all, the "Crown of the Savannah" is not guarded lightly, and going in guns blazing is a bad idea at best.
One last point: I will make the final selection of who participates. Do not be offended if I don't choose you, I'm just going on post history because this is a complicated RP.
So, what do you say? Want to go on a heist?
Edit: If your selected character has supernatural/superleonine (I guess?) powers, they will be removed for the purposes of this RP. We can have unusually strong, fast, or gifted characters, but only within reason.
