Mahali sat down in the clearing, head hunched between his shoulders, brow furrowed, trying to ignore Phyllon.
“Hey, I’m… I’m sorry... I didn’t know you were upset. I… I shouldn’t have mocked you like that.”
Mahali exhaled hard and turned his head in the opposite direction. The day was barely half over and nothing had gone right. His dreams were the best part of his day and they weren't even real. His whole morning had been painful and frustrating. They couldn't get a meal to at least fill themselves. Then Imara had to show up and remind Mahali how bleak the future looked. And to top it all off, he had gotten struck by lightning. Mahali doubted there was anyone out there having a worse day than him.
“…That lioness looked scary.”
Mahali noticed the strands of his mane in his eyes but ignored them as he exhaled again, this time calming down a bit.
"Yeah, she's..." He started to say, but his mind kept going back to what he feared most. The future. He couldn't keep running from Imara and Mordhau. Eventually, the inevitable would catch up to him and his friends. A lump formed in his throat as he held tears back. Mahali rested a paw on Phylon's shoulder. Perhaps more than the future, he feared losing his friends. And with the way things were going, that seemed very likely.

“Yeah, she’s…”
Phyllon wanted to learn more about Imara, but Mahali couldn’t seem to finish the sentence. Whatever had happened between him and her, it must have put Mahali in a difficult position. The cub felt compassion as he saw him trying to hold back his tears and placing his paw on his shoulder. Phyllon instinctively got closer and cuddled into Mahali’s mane. He figured the adolescent might need a hug much more than him.
“You can tell me later if you want, maybe to the others too… but I want you to know I’m with you all the way. Whatever it is, we’ll get through it together.”
A circle of flowers seemed to appear out of nowhere to surround the two young lions, providing them with a sweet comforting aroma.

Mahali sighed and with his next breath, a second wind of hope came to him. Maybe if they worked hard, they could do something about their situation. Maybe even running away would be better. Who knows.
"We didn't tell you about Mordhau because we didn't want you to worry too much when you first came to us. He runs a group of carnivores that bully others into bringing them food. Imara is his 2nd in command or something. But if we don't bring them something soon, they'll come after us."

((You mentioned it was okay for me to join this, so here's my first post :3 Using Karadin.)) --------- Dark brown paws trudged the dusty earth throwing dust with each determined step, all the young male’s violet eyes had seen so far was open grassland stretching for miles and miles of endless… nothing. Doubt was creeping in the back of his mind, his master had never been wrong before and this was not the time to question he knew that, yet he had been on this trail for the better part of a week now. Not that he could go back, the oasis had been welcome respite as long as it lasted but, the stains he had left in wake there would not bide his return. No, all he could do was trudge forward.
The male stopped as he came to the shade of a tree, his pale brown maw uttering a graceful yawn of slight fatigue the scents in the air around him told the tale that these lands were far from abandoned; people lived here… lions lived here. Violet eyes trailed briefly up to the branches of the trees that swayed ever so slightly in the welcomed breeze, the leaves though green with life some of them were starting to slowly fade to yellows and browns… his doing, naturally. Karadin was used to it by now, the effect he had on life around him, he gave a light shake getting rid of the dust staining his deep red mane, which was slowly coming into its own.
He was about to continue onwards when he heard the sound of voices nearby, causing him to freeze mid-step. Although not taken entirely unawares he knew the lands were inhabited, he had just not figured the current residents to be this close; Karadin proceeded towards the voices with caution, was a trespasser after all, and while he did not shy from a fight he’d much rather not having to continue his wandering just yet… being tired and hungry, as powerful as Karadin thought himself to be, he was still bound to certain mortal coils.

Phyllon listened attentively with his jaw hanging. He didn’t know his new family was being harassed by lions picking on them for food. It made the cub feel some immediate guilt for having fun at hunting that antelope, right before the lightning struck them and made them lose it, but he didn’t mention it to Mahali. He just dropped his head, looking down and sighing.
“Can’t we just… fight back, somehow?” The cub asked with a hopeless tone, almost coming to tears, but not wanting Mahali to see them. “There’s gotta be a way.”
Soon, a strange sensation interrupted Phyllon’s mind. He felt as if a part of him was dying, like life was being quickly drained from it, and yet it also felt as if it was instead happening to someone else nearby them… a tree, and there was another presence there too, just passing by as the tree decayed. The cub suddenly felt weak and vertigo caused him to lose his balance. He managed to get hold of Mahali’s front leg to regain some footing, hugging it horrorized.
“Something is coming…” He said with a trembling, almost breathless voice. “I don’t know how, but I feel there’s something evil coming this way… it’s getting closer.”
The flowers that had bloomed around the two lions had started to decay as well.

"I don't know." Mahali replied.
“Something is coming… I don’t know how, but I feel there’s something evil coming this way… it’s getting closer.”
Mahali looked around, confused. "What? You mean you smell something?" The cub had chosen some interesting words if that was what he meant. But the way he said it didn't make any sense. Just then, Mahali spotted a pair of eyes. Could it be Mordhau? Either way, he decided he really didn't want to be there any more.
Whoosh.
In an instant, all the colors faded and the sound of the birds and insects stopped. The only thing he heard was a gentle wind.
"Whoa! Phylon! What just happened?" Mahali asked as he backed up and looked around at the desaturated scenery.
(Reminder: Mahali is now in a completely different plane of existence. Nobody can hear/see him but he can hear/see you.)

Destiny stayed put laying down still for as long as she felt comfortable with, which was starting to wear off a little. She knew that this group wouldn't split too far apart and would stay safe but after recent events she thought it best not to keep apart for too long. She still didn't feel completely well.
She forced herself up onto her paws. Looking down briefly she swore that her perfect while pelt had a tint of green to it, she looked at them again and it had gone. She shook her head quickly assuming the explanation that her mind was playing tricks on her due to the lightning strike.
After taking a few steps, it wasn't long until she caught a feline scent in the air. Her sense of smell isn't the best compared to others so she knew it had to be close by. She could start to hear the voices of Mahali and Phyllon up ahead but this scent was coming in from another direction. She changed her direction away from their 2 voices and followed her nose.
She walked gently and stood tall not to look aggressive while taking slow steady steps . Being the colour she is she knew this feline would of seen her before she has seen it, but she just wanted to make her presence known peacefully. Letting her body language do the talking.

The dark male noticed the change in the environment, that was unusual, usually only small portions of area immediately around him would get affected. Yet the savannah had turned dead silent, no birds sang nor did the chirp of insects persist. However the male was not left to ponder it as he notices movement in the corner of his eye, he snaps his head towards it; it was a lioness, he could tell that much her colour also made her stand out like a sore thumb admits the grass. Karadin however stood his ground, head raised and posture showing dominance and confidence, his vocals growled slightly as the girl made her approach he took a slight step forward his claws exposed although not extended.
“That’s close enough, girl.” His voice rumbled gruffly, giving her a warning to stop indeed he had no idea what effect his aura would have on her should he allow her too close. It wouldn’t kill her like it did with the plants, but it could weaken her or worse actually be a benefit to her and Karadin was not in the business of granting charity to strangers. “If you’re here to stop me, you’re not doing a very good job of it.” he spoke while his violet eyes trailed the girl, sizing her up. He had no idea if she had any surprises in store, but even so he was not dropping his guard nor his confident almost aggressive stance.

"What? You mean you smell something?"
“N-no… it hurts!” answered the cub embracing Mahali’s leg tighter, trembling of fear. “Please, let’s just go.”
All of a sudden, Mahali’s leg vanished into nothing, like it had never been there. With no leg to hug, Phyllon’s arms closed into himself making him trip and fall over his muzzle. Startled, he opened his eyes and saw that Mahali was nowhere to be seen.
“Mahali?” he looked in every direction, very confused and scared. “Mahali, where are you!?... Where did you go? ... Please don’t leave me…”
Phyllon kept looking, but he suddenly froze as he saw a pair of purple eyes not far from him, belonging to a lion who slowly approached them, and coming from the direction where he felt that presence that made the trees he saw decay. The cub felt as if death itself was coming for him.
He prepared to turn and run away, but he flinched as he also saw that Destiny was right there, confronting the strange lion. Now worrying about the white lioness, he didn’t want to leave her behind, so he hid behind a rock waiting to see what would happen, hoping she knew what she was doing, and hoping that Mahali was still close somehow.

"Phyllon! I'm right here!" He said, calling out to the cub right in front of him. "Come with me! We have to go!"
“Mahali, where are you!?... Where did you go? ... Please don’t leave me…”
Phyllons worried cries for Mahali carried on as if he wasn't even there. In an effort to get Phyllon to follow him, Mahali reached a paw out to grab him but his paw passed right through the cub. Startled, Mahali looked back up at the pair of eyes again and noticed Destiny walking confidently towards what Mahali now recognized as the silhouette of a lion. With a quick leap and a trot, Mahali was next to the lioness just as the silhouette spoke.
“That’s close enough, girl. If you’re here to stop me, you’re not doing a very good job of it.”
"Destiny!"
Whoosh.
Immediately after calling her name, sound and color rushed back to Mahali's senses. A short gasp escaped Mahali's lips at the sudden return to normalcy.
"Destiny?" As soon as she reacted, he realized that maybe now Phyllon would respond as well. "Phyllon." He whispered and turned to see the cub was still there, just a short distance away.
