In contrast to her siblings Tarajii’s early cubhood was spent mostly left to her own devices, where as her older brother would grab most the attention of her parents, and her older sister hung around their uncle Kion and his Lion Guard at their den, Tarajii often went out of her way to seek solitude. She would spend hours exploring the vast expanses of the Pridelands on her own seeking secrets and adventures at her own pace. This often had her forgetting time and coming home at the advent of sunset, defying her parents’ rules though she often slipped by unnoticed as her parents were too busy to realize she had been gone. Deep down however there was a very good reason she sought solitude, despite being born a girl, Tarajii never looked at herself as a female, in her mind she had always felt like a male; but none in her family took her seriously, the few times she dared mention it. Her mentor Rafiki is the only one that she feels understand her, between him and her, he even referres to her by a male name 'Adhai' and credits her as a male
As the third of the royal siblings Tarajii initially didn’t have any expectations leveled on her, no responsibilities she was expected to adhere to. As time passed she began spending more and more time around the Sacred Baobab finding company in the elderly Rafiki always badgering the old man about stories about the Great Kings and the spirits; some would’ve found her excessive prodding trying but the elderly mandrill recognized a potential in the young cub, she had among things a keen eye for herbs, but most importantly Rafiki recognized that the cub was a particularly powerful lucid dreamer, with emerging abilities of precognitive dreaming. With some convincing it was decided that Tarajii would get the honour of becoming Rafiki’s apprentice, destined to one day take his place as Shaman of Pridelands.
This was a huge change for the young cub, no longer would she live on Pride Rock but rather take up residence in the Sacred Baobab, only getting to visit her family the few times her mentor would allow it. The fact that she was used to being on her own made the transition less difficult for her, even if she did spend nights missing her family. As a way to amuse herself she would make games out of the duties her mentor would give her; like treasure hunts out of herb gathering or quizzes when it came to remembering all the fables and stories.
At first the duties were a game to her, but as she got older she started taking her position more seriously, treating it with the respect and devotion it deserved. Indeed she had become content that this was her place and lot in life, but it didn't hurt that she had realized it had a few perks to it; she knew her siblings would at some point be forced to marry, she herself however would be exempted from this rule, and as far as the young teenager was concerned this suited her perfectly.
Other: Identifies as a Female-to-Male transsexual and as such although she answers to her given name among family,
but prefers to be known as 'Adhai', by anyone else, even potential friends. And insists to be recognized and treated as a male.
Is a powerful lucid dreamer, in that she retains full-awareness and as such near complete control of her extremely realistic and vivid dreams.
She also has the abilities of a prophetic-dreamer, which allows her through dreams to experience events that have yet to come to pass.
