So, it's that time of the year again! We in Finland learned just a few days ago who will represent us in the song contest, and I must say I'm actually looking forward to it for the first time since Lordi and Teräsbetoni were in the Eurovisions. xD This year we have Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, who are rather popular in Finland. xD Seriously, it's epic that they chose this band for the Eurovisions this year. xD I'm so looking forward to what'll happen. xDD

It really warms my heart when you see people like this in the spotlight. It goes to show that disabilities dont have stop you doing what you love. ^^ I wish them all the best this year

Thats awesome! And I agree with TL. One guy in particular that comes to mind is Savant.

We're apparently putting forth Guy Sebastian, which seems a bit too high profile/international to me. You don't see Ireland putting forth U2 or anything. But whatevs. So long as the music is good:). I love hearing the bands from different countries.

Can Australia even join? From what I understand it was only open to European nations or nations surrounding the Mediterrainian, such as the North african countries(who have never joined), which explains why Israel is part of it.
It's called Eurovision afterall XD

Sometimes I wish this was much more international so Mexico could take part in... but then I remember Mexico has some of the worst music genres I've ever heard, and so I get over it (Nah j/k, it has a few gems here and there, but I still prefer foreign music xD) But really, I look forward to see how this plays out

What I've heard concerning Australia is that they were allowed to enter because they just love the contest so darn much I believe it's already been decided though that if they win it, it can't be hosted in Australia next year xD The Swedish selection still isn't over. The final is next week and I personally think that the entries in general are very weak this year... So I've no high hopes for Sweden in Eurovision this time around

It may have something to do with our connections to Britain?

^ In that case, why isn't Canada or New Zealand also participating? I think it's both kind of awesome that Australia is taking part, and yet at the same time really weird. xP Then again, I've always considered it weird that Israel is participating in the Eurovisions too, so meh. xP Honestly, at this rate the whole contest should be turned global. That might be interesting to see. xP

I looked into the "Australia in ESC" thing some more, and the answer basically is "They were allowed to enter this once because of how darn much they love the contest." Well then.... At least the answer they gave for that is amusing. xD

Pretty silly that we have to 'win' in order to be in it again. Makes me think I've just asked to sit with the cool kids, and they've told me I can but only if I act cool like them. It explains why Guy Sebastian is our contestant though.

So! The Eurovisions are going on at full speed. Finland didn't get past the 1st semifinals (unfortunately, poor guys really xD), but if memory serves right it's been difficult for years if you sing in any other language than English. xD
I've been bad and haven't followed the semi-finals, or watched any of the other countries music videos even. XD I did see some parts of Sweden's performance in the news just a moment ago, and it looks pretty darn interesting. I think I might be rooting for Sweden this year. xD

I've been following both the semifinals because, yes, I really like Eurovision... xD Something I've thought of as well - last year the winner was a drag queen, this year Finland's entry was a band of musicians with Down Syndrome and Poland's singer is in a wheelchair. I like what's happening here C: Variety! Representation! Yeah! As for the music, I'm kinda genuinely rooting for Sweden, haha. I don't have a lot of other favourites and Måns' song has really grown on me. Apparently he's a favourite to win the whole darn thing too, so we'll see how that goes I suppose... They changed the animated character a little for Eurovision. I guess the plagiarism was too obvious otherwise xP Otherwise I think I'll be cheering for the UK's entry as well, actually. It's kinda different, but I like it. The "Oh, yes." at 1:33 cracks me up so much

Well then I'm certainly looking forward to tomorrow's finals. xD I still haven't seen any of the contestants completely, so yes. xD I heard too that Sweden and apparently also Norway are big favourites this year. Yay for Scandinavia~!

Yes! Go Scandinavia xD Norway's entry is really pretty cool. It's definitely one of the better ones!
I've found another favourite too -
I find something about it to be very touching and powerful. Well-made song :3

Three words to comment on this year's Eurovisions:
Too many ballads.
Other than that, there were a few nice-ish songs in there. I actually honestly liked Australia's song, and Georgia was also rather good. I got to admit I'm not too fond of Sweden's entry, but it's a lot better than most of the other entries.
They're still going through the points from all countries, and I must say I'm rather annoyed to see Russia is holding on to the 1st place so tightly. <.< I'm also surprised to see Italy ranking so high. So yes, in light of all this, I'm totally rooting for Sweden even though I didn't like the song as much as some of the others. xD
On that note, I do not regret my decision to NOT watch this competition for the past few years. I think I'll fall back into ignoring them for the coming few years again. xD

All I know from this year's Eurovision contest is what has been posted in this thread but I really like the little I've seen. Sweden and Norway's entries are so great

You have no idea how hard we were cheering with my friends whenever Sweden got more points than Russia. xD Was also nice to see how well Australia did in the contest. If it were up to me, I'd rather see them enter next year too instead of just this year for the Eurovision's anniversary. xD But yes! Congrats Sweden!
