Name
Umlaphi [tribe name]
Nickname
Tibu [called by most animals]
Species
Caracal
Age
Young adult
Gender
Male
Description
Rusty pelt colour; lighter underbelly, toes and inside of his ears; darker ears, brushes on the tips, eye rings, elbow tufts, beard and paw pads; white, delicate claws and emerald green eyes.
Overall shaggy appearance, fairly large for his kind but thin.
Behaviour
He's an amazing herbalist, has great knowledge of herbs, plants and fruits, complete with their medical effects.
Friendly to the point of being naive at moments, doesn't judge anybody for their appearance.
Happy to use his skills to help any suffering animal, be it a lion or a hyena, or even a gerbil.
He's extremely shy, barely ever talks about himself or his feelings. Always chooses his words carefully.
Almost impossible to anger but easy to sadden and prone to depression. Whatever his emotion at the moment is however, he'll always try to cover it with smile, with mixed results.
History
Umlaphi was born in a tribe of caracals, members of which were all specializing in herbalism and medicine revolving around it. Some said they were practicing shamanism the same way baboons did, others thought it was in fact a witchcraft... none of those things were true. The tribe wasn't religious in any way, didn't live with rules of Circle of Life and similar things, nor did they focus on 'magic' - all that mattered was perfecting their herbalism.
Umlaphi was no exception to that - he dedicated most of his life studying herbs and their properties. Even took it a step farther - taking rather common plants and fruits, and trying to mix them into salves with different effects.
Life was simple but one thing young caracal didn't like - his tribe had no intention of using their abilities to help anybody outside of the tribe. What was the purpose of all of this if they didn't want to use it? He didn't understand that.
His opinion was met with a frown. Why would they even attempt to help other animals? They are predators, they kill prey to live and get killed by bigger animals that are protecting their territories. They had no business in helping any of them.
It didn't convince Umlaphi. He wanted to use his skills for better good, to feel more useful that he ever did in his tribe. He decided to leave once he hit the right age. Altho his leaving was met with rather cold response, he believed it was the right thing to do.
Since then he roams the lands, helping whoever needs his help, eventually gaining new name Tibu - which means healing.
