I have no clue if this idea is possible with the limitations of proboards so if it is just ignore this all =P
I'd be willing to bet that I'm not alone when I say that the people I RP with are more than just co-writers, they're friends and supporters. I know that when I've been going through tough times I've reached out or had members reach out to me to help me through them. Because of this, I had an idea for everyone, including those that aren't willing to openly discuss their issues/concerns/troubles, to receive support in a healthy environment free of judgement.
If it is possible, I think it would be beneficial to add something along the lines of a anonymous section of the forums that does not show who posted what. Not only would this be good for people needing help with issues they may not want exposed as their own, but it could also open up those who give or use anecdotes/personal experience as advice to speak the truth and not fear judgement. Over all, it would be a place free of judgement for anyone and everyone that was looking for help in something they might feel embarrassed to reveal about themselves.
What do you guys think?

I think this is an excellent and well thought idea. It would be nice to be able to comment without your name attactched, though I have learned to call this community a second family ^-^ but yes i think that would be a nice addition to the forum, if it is possible. I to have had members care for me and it feels really comforting to know there is someone who cares :3

Sounds like a great idea I will talk to Pulsar and Tura about it aswell . I will also look into codes and plugins for the forum and see if things like this exist .

I really like this idea I don't know how possible it is to have an anonymous section like you say, but I'm all for sharing advice and support on difficult situations. I also think it's a nice bonding excercise (which is something I've been feeling the need for lately, I must say)

*A wild Tura appears*
I quite like this idea. TL you up for a skype call on Saturday or Sunday? I'll get Pulsar to actually log onto skype so we can discuss it.
*The wild Tura disappears again for a few days*

I'm so glad that everyone thinks this is a good idea! I'm especially happy to see some of the faces of those that have been my support through some rough terrain

I agree, this sounds like a good idea I don't have much besides that to comment on xD If it can be done we should definitely test it out.

I know that this was created a long time ago but... have we ever found out if something like this is possible?

TL, Ruby and myself had a conversation about this some time back when we looked into it. At the time unfortunately we couldn't find the option to implement the anonymous feature. Apologies, we never replied on the subject, it had slipped my mind. Aside from technical limitations there were also other factors we had to consider, such as whether or not it would be abused and if it was, would we be able to somehow enforce it. Since anyone would have been able to potentially post without their face being attached to their text, there was the potential that someone could use it to troll or otherwise act in an unacceptable manner, which wouldn't have been good, more so since people would have been opening themselves up by posting personal problems etc, despite being anonymous.
Of course, I'm not stating any member here would do such a thing, unfortunately, being in charge or forum security and maintaining a good atmosphere of friendship etc on the forum, we also need to consider the "what if"s that could be.

Hmm I've been thinking... maybe an alternative to this would be to make a private section for people who are trustworthy and have been in TLKGO for a good while. Just like there are sections restricted only for mods/admin staff members, why not make a section restricted only for certain trustworthy users? it wouldn't keep your username secret, but not just anyone would be able to see your posts, they would be people who you can be certain that you can trust and won't judge you.
As for who may have access to this section, like I said, I think it would be based on their activity in the forum and the time they've been around. So new users would have to get a certain number of posts and be remarkably friendly with other users to earn access. I know of at least a spanish forum I sometimes visit that does it (I haven't got access to that section, actually, since I'm not very well known over there)
But then again, this is just an alternative idea. What do you guys think?

i quote everything that Pulsar mentioned xD. and again im sorry i didn't reply any sooner ><. As for your suggestion Leor, its an idea that may work, But it causes a divide between members and may upset them who do not have the privalige of seeing the private board, if you get what i mean hehe. Please remember guys though that we love all of you pitching ideas ! ^^, Even if we dont think they work or are not suitable we admire your enthusiasm so don't be afraid .

I am a moderator on a forum I use to visit, and I believe there is a mod only section. I guess this could be made, maybe to fit your rank? So if you have enough posts, you get to post. Lolwut. Or maybe it should just be to nice people. What would qualify you as nice? Oh, I see how it gets problematic.

Hmm well, I took the liberty of asking the admin of that spanish forum about that section I mentioned. She told me that the way they do it is by a certain number of posts, which in their case it's 40 posts (I have 23 posts in that forum, so that explains why I don't have access to the section). It's not a big number, one can easily achieve that by being active for a couple of weeks, but it's still a good number to check on the user's activity and have a slight idea of what kind of person they are. If they turn problematic, they don't grant them access. At least that's how I understood it. Although, given the Roleplay nature of TLKGO, perhaps an idea like that would turn out differently, I admit. Maybe the section could be invisible for new users, I don't know

That's not a bad idea. The issue is when it comes to just making posts, that's not really a great indication of the person but more an indication of how active they are. The thing about that is also that a member's post count on TLKGO is tracked by their posts in RPs, not their overall posts on the forum. If we had something like that where it was simply a post limit I'm not sure it'd be the best of ideas. While someone can reach the post number and gain access, it doesn't necessarily mean they deserve access, if that makes sense.
You are correct FH, there is the ability to have a section out of view of certain members, in this case we use that feature for the moderation/staff group so that issues etc can be discussed outside of member view. Such as security matters or discussion about the forum etc etc.
