Plus sized disney princesses

Hello everyone!!!

As a subject which is near and dear to me, I thought I might direct you to this article: shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/teen-petitions-disney--give-us-a-plus-size-princess-000545407.html . It's about a school girl who's petitioning disney to create a plus sized disney princess, to be a good role model to all of us who aren't build like a catwalk modeller's ideal of beauty. Feel free to discuss it below, too! I'd love to hear what people think of this. Should all Disney princesses be made skinny or should we have some variation, and why?

This is absoultely beautiful. Its beautiful the fact that someone has said to Disney they don`t want stick thin princesses all the time.

We need variaton, you can`t go one disney princess movie without their being a very skinny main character with blonde hair. {With the exception of Brave, Anna.}

I really like this idea. Variation in body types in female characters is something pretty much every media everywhere is in dire need of! I'm really hoping that people's raised voices on the matter will bring around some change. That'd be absolutely awesome C:

And, actually, Mane, I count only four blonde Disney princesses out of the... thirteen? that they have now (if you include Elsa, who is technically a queen, of course). It's the most common archetype I suppose, but there are more exceptions than Merida and Anna, thankfully :3

Oh dear. XD The Disney Princesses I've all seen have blonde hair. And now it comes to mind, snow white is also an exception.

And Pocahontas and Jasmine and Tiana and Mulan (though why she's classed as a "Princess", I do not know) also have black hair, so actually, black-haired girls are the most common Disney Princesses! XD There also are three redheads - Ariel, Merida and Anna - in the official lineup. Poor Belle is the only brunette

So the "blonde and blue-eyed" Disney Princess isn't actually as common as you might think. They all have more or less the exact same body type though, so back to the topic of the thread, there is definitely some variation needed there *nods* I'm reminded of a post I've seen floating around Tumblr that demonstrates the problem rather well... krudman.tumblr.com/post/88613570009/why-yes-yes-i-am-a-character-designer-that It's just sad, really.

I like that post, Kanu. I played WOW for a time some years back and thought the troll females were awful! I mean, the males have 3 ft tusks and are all hunched over, wheras the females looked almost normal. Just like ugly humans, lol. They should look like ugly trolls!
