Naiief sat down in the tall grass, washing her paw mindlessly in the summer afternoon sun. It was hot and she had just eaten. Placing her paw to the floor and peered over the tops of the grass with interest, She flicked her ear hearing the sound of wings beating.
A Long-legged bird landed beside here, panting, weary from flight. Naiief smiled at her friend and relaxed herself leaning her head in her paws to rest Today had been a good day, and tonight was one of the first night of the Migration of the flyers. Bats from all across the badlands would fly across the starry sky for the next two weeks in search of new homes. It was a wonder to watch, and also rather chilling.
Sembe, her companion and Herself would be the ones to keep watch on them, and if one single bat went out of hand, it would be their end. As was customary for her this time each year. The only disappointment was that Naiief had no pride to share this experience with any more, not after the joining of the prides. Her mother's family had travelled to less harsh lands in their Age, and Naiief had decided to stay. She knew the wonders that this land promised and felt no need to leave.
"Neve." Sembe started affectionately, "The only movement throughout today was that of the Gazelle." She informed, " They are moving eastward in search for pastures. The snakes have overrun heir current lands."
"And let them." Naiief nodded, " Eastward is only future into this land, we have nothing to fear."
Sembe's tongue flicked out of her beak momentarily, " And many the meal for myself." She sung.
Mistiria wondered into the land from the outskirts from which she resided. She was hungry and in search of something to eat. She didn't notice anyone around so she started to sniff out where the gazelle were at so she could hunt. She had lost her way home back when she was a small cub and learned everything she knew now on her own. She had no idea that this land was already taken and hoped to be gone before the occupants of this land found her.
