[Accalia] Endless Diamond Skies

The young cub couldn't be more then a preteenager in age, and already he was starting to grow. His legs were longer his body more muscular, and a tuft of mane had just started to grow over one eye that went down his neck as well, with another tuft growing on his chest. His mane was black, with silver streaks, his coat black and silver stripes on his body. Blue eyes stared out at the world as he thought once more of Kumbu. My how she was growing up.. Into such a fine young lady, too.. No! He silently scolded himself. That had to be the fifth time this week that he had caught himself thinking of her like that. But he couldn't help it, for every time he looked at his sister he felt silly and giddy, and couldn't help but stare at her beauty. 


It was a dark night in the jungle and he had taken time to go out to the waterfall. He sat by the waters edges, looking at his reflection. Somehow, he had always felt like he didn't belong; as if his dark pelt didn't set him apart enough, his personality was different from all his siblings. Where they all were out going and fun loving, he was shy.. He preferred to keep things to himself. Wasn't it better that way? Just to not cause trouble, just to be here.. Just to survive.. Stay silent and he would survive... Not only that but he had always questioned things.. Like why no one else in the pride looked like him, where he got his muscular figure from, even his eyes didn't look quite the same as his mothers, his were a deeper blue. But it was nonsense.. Surely this was all in his head.. right?

Kumbu was developing, her legs beginning to lengthen and her chest staring to fill. Her pelt was a golden colour, with black stripes greatly resembling her mothers own appearance. Her neon green eyes resemble that of an emerald and her light orange tuft draped down the side of her face, covering one of her beautiful eyes. The way she walked was long and elegant, despite her lanky appearance. She was searching for her slightly older brother, her mind confused as she failed to find him. If mother found me .. No.. That's the thing she won't she thought firmly, it was well past her curfew and she was support to be at home with her family, but she was worried about Kane and decided to try find him. She had a stronger bond with him then her other brother, there was something about him that confused her, he had always been different, the odd one out, but that is what drew the two together, their differences.

Her eyes lit up as she saw Kane perched on the waters edge, she cried out his name and charged towards him, bumping into his dark body playfully. "Why haven't you returned to mum and dad? And me.. I missed you." She said plunking down beside him, scattering the water as she sees her reflection. "Hey.. You don't look so good.. Here" she said caring but then splashes water in his face, giggling, desperately trying to cheer him up.

Kane was sitting there by the waters edge, and his mind went to Kumbu.. Her beautiful appearance, the elegant way she moved around, those deep green eyes.. He became lost in thought when he heard someone cry out his name. Looking up, he saw... Her. "Kumbu.." He whispered, and as she came up and asked why he hadn't returned to mom and dad.. and her.. he looked down.. She said she missed him, and he felt his heart beat a little faster. This was wrong, he shouldn't be feeling this way. But he couldn't help it. As she spoke again and splashed him with water he smiled a little, splashing her back.

He moved and gently nuzzled her as a form of greeting.. Yet even just as a form of greeting, he found his heart thundering as he did so. Gazing down at her beauty, he realized it was wrong... wrong to be thinking like this.. and quickly averted his eyes. His heart thundered as he glanced back at her. He cleared his throat. "Kumbu.. I.. I missed you too.. But you shouldn't be out here, you could get in trouble.." But he wanted to scream, even as he lectured her that he desperately wanted her to be here, yet he sat silently a moment. Finally he looked back up at her. "Did you really.. umm.. did you really.. miss.. me?" He finally asked quietly, averting his gaze. Silently he awaited her answer.

She felt the cold on her face and let out a giggle, sitting back and smiling faintly. Kumbu giggled and nuzzled her brother back, giving him her small, cheeky smile. She noticed how flighty he was and asked slowly "Kane.. Why are you so nervous tonight?! It's just me and you.. Isn't it?" she asked slightly confused, Kane had always been shy, but never quite this much, she was worried something had happened while he was alone and circled his once, making sure he wasn't hurt. And with the mention of her getting into trouble she gave him a daring smile "I know! But I'm not going back without you." she said sitting back down beside him, looking into his deep blue eyes.

Kumbu smiled, "Yes! Eknu is getting on my nerves..." she said gently pushing his muzzle "Don't look at me like that! Your scaring me!" she said is her soft voice. She felt like dragging Kane home by his tail, he was growing a tendency to be alone frequently and Kumbu was worried for her brother, he didn't want him to get hurt, but there was something more, something stronger that made her uncertain of her feelings towards him being alone, there were plea toy of other lionesses their age, most of them much prettier then herself, but she hadn't noticed her feelings about them, yet.

As she asked why he was so nervous, saying it was just him and her.. He smiled.. "Yeah..." He gazed at her fondly as she said she wasn't going back without him, giving him that daring smile. As she told him Eknu was getting on her nerves and pushed into his muzzle, he found his jaw agape a little, as he turned to stare at her a moment. As she told him not to look at her like that, he looked down. "Sorry.. It's just that.. You look really.. really beautiful tonight." He looked down, knowing it was wrong of him to be complimenting her like that.. but he couldn't help it..

For she really did look quite.. lovely.. especially in the moonlight. He tried to push the thoughts out of his mind but they just kept flooding his mind, and for some reason he wished they weren't brother and sister.. He knew it was wrong but he secretly hoped that somehow, someway they could be together. But seriously.. That.. that was fools talk.. that would never, ever happen.. right?

At Kane's compliment she went bright red and bumped his again, smiling "You are in a funny mood tonight! But thank you brother" she said smiling gratefully. She looked to the water and sighed, it looked so inviting, she couldn't resist "Seeing as you obviously aren't going back to the family, I may as well make myself comfortable she slipped into the water, laying back and letting out a sigh as the cool water surrounds her body. Kumbu was much more immature then Kane, she would have never thought they were the same age, and yet they were twins. It was almost as if he was from a different family, but that wasn't possible, mum and dad would have told me if he was.. She thought desperately, suddenly the idea became a very big possibility and the shock leaked onto her face as she thought about it further.

Kane felt her bump against him and felt his cheeks grow hot as they inevitably turned red beneath his dark fur. She told him he was in a funny mood, and thanked him, and he stared at her a moment, before shutting his jaw. She hadn't noticed.... She hadn't noticed that it was a compliment, not just him saying it for nothing. But perhaps it was better that way. Yet just then she told him she would enjoy herself and slipped into the waters. He felt himself feel emotions he never thought were possible, and stared at her a moment. It was only when her expression changed that he grew a little more concerned... Everything in him told him he should leave her be, but that was the last thing he wanted to do.. No, instead he stepped forward, letting the water come up to his chest. Being taller then her, he waded out to the deeper end, the water around his chest as he looked down at her, his eyes soft...

His jaw was slightly agape at her beauty, everything in him told him this was wrong, to feel all these emotions.. Yet something deeper, somewhere deep within his heart, told him it was right... For once, he pushed out the thoughts that tormented his mind, as he moved towards her, his eyes soft.. before he slowly leaned forward, wordlessly nuzzling her. His heart thundered as he did so, he moved his eyes to look at her, his cheek pressed against hers. "Kumbu... " he said softly, breathless at her beauty, "You are.. very.. beautiful.. tonight..."

Kumbu felt the water ripple as Kane walked out deeper into the water and she gave him a small smile, I'm not the only one who found it inviting then, she says warmly to herself. She gave her brother a wide smile before the question slipped from her mouth "Do you think we are siblings?.... You are so different from me..." she said suddenly, but held her paws over her mouth, but was eager to hear his reply. She saw his open mouth and gave a slight giggle "WHAT?!" she half shouted half laughed at his peculiar expression, forgetting her question for now letting it pass from her mind. She saw how gentle he was and her smile slowly passed from her face. "Kane?.." she squeaked as he pressed his face against hers in a nuzzle, she was now frozen and confused. "Kane... Wh-What are you trying to say?.." she asked hoping for it to not be what she thought; that he had more then a brotherly love for her and that he was seriously thinking that she was beautiful, her mouth opened and closed and she tried to form a sentence, but nothing came.

Kane heard her ask if she thought they were siblings, and he said nothing.. The idea had never crossed his mind; wouldn't be a dream if they weren't.. and they could somehow end up together? As she half shouted at him at his expression, he took a deep breathe as he nuzzled her. Her reaction made his heart stop.. Her soft voice in a squeak, saying his name.. After he had told her she was beautiful, she asked him what he was trying to say... He felt his heart beat fast, he backed up a step..

"I just thought.. I.." He looked down, his mane falling over his eyes. "I like you, okay... I'm sorry! Look, I.. I better go.." He felt his heart thunder, but for fear of what her reaction would be rather then for his feelings for her... He jumped out of the water, briefly shaking himself before bolting across the jungle floor, he had to get away, he just had to.. this was like a living nightmare.

As he confessed his feelings to her, making her thoughts correct he was momentarily stunned, but this was her brother, wasn't it?! She was a mess inside and she wanted to sort this out now, she quickly bloted after Kane, not bothering to shake the water from her fur, just running, running towards what she hopped was answers. As she ran she thought of the possibility of them being from different families, making it possible for them to ba a thing, she didn't know what she felt about this, about him, he was her brother it didn't feel right and yet somehow it did.

The water dipped from her running body as she saw Kane's figure before her, she didn't change her gaze from him, making sure she didn't loose him or the answers her held. Kumbu was a relitivly fast runner her long legs helping her immensely as her light orange fringe lifts and drops to the momentum of her running. Why.. How... Ohhh Kane.., she thought desperately trying to figure out why he liked her of all the lionesses and ligers it was her who he fell in love with. Then she thought how it had hit him, how was it possible to love your sibling in this way... And she sighed for him, how hard this must be, knowing he will be rejected knowing that it wasn't right. Kumbu was a wreck as she relentlessly followed Kane through the forest

Kane ran, he ran with all his strength, as tears blinded him.. It was only when he came to a cave that he stopped, breathing in heavy breathes.. He looked back, seeing Kumbu running towards him. He bowed his head, trying to catch his breathe. "Why.. Why did you follow me?" He asked. "Why didn't you just let me leave? Everyone would be better off without me." He said, his words filled with pain. He looked to her, "No one really gets me like you do.. I see the way they look at me, like I am some stranger among them.. Everyone wonders, why is his fur dark, why is he so different... Honestly, I don't know why..."

He finally looked to her. "You are the only one, the only one out of everyone who looks at me and doesn't think I am some freak of nature. Maybe thats why I like you, but honestly I don't know why I have these feelings.. I just know I do, and I know everyone will hate me if I am with you, but.. but.. I don't care about them, I care about you..." His words flooded from his maw before he could stop them, he finally stood, defeated, as he looked at her. Now she knew the truth. "I'm sorry, Kumbu.. I can't help the way I feel about you.. I know its wrong, but.." He couldn't finish his words, he looked down, as silent tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Kane, I followed you because I care about you, I don't care if you love me in a different way, I will alwaysbe here for you no matter what." she said firmly and as he begins to pour out his true feelings something swirls up from her stomach as her previous feelings intensify, she looked at him, their gazes interlocking as tears begin to roll down her cheek, her emotions just one large swirling vortex. She gave him a small, innocent smile as she identified the feeling in her stomach "Kane... I love you as a brother... But... I..think I love you more then that." she said hesitantly as her mind comes up with fantasies that reveal them not to be siblings and they can unite together, but that was just it, a fantasy, she had to put him down softly "Kane.. This cannot be.. We cannot be, it was just not meant to happen, we are siblings and I cannot exile myself from our family to be with you when my feelings are only small... I am sorry Kane.." she said nuzzling his maw softly, rubbing their bodies against each other as she wished it could be different, but it was hard to think of her brother as more then that; as a lover. She let out a small sigh and sat down beside him, resting her head on his shoulder, "It just cannot be.." she said quietly

Staring at her as she told him that she cared about him, he nodded as she said she would always be there for him. Their eyes met for a long moment, he saw the tears roll down her cheeks.. She said she loved him as a brother, but she thought.. she loved him more then that.. He felt emotions swirl inside him, like a storm was going off in his belly. She said finally that it couldn't be... That she wouldn't exile herself from their family when the feelings were so.. small. But his feelings weren't small, they were as big as the skies.. He tried to find some way that they could be together in his mind, some loop hole, but found none. As she nuzzled against him, rubbing her body against his, he rubbed his own maw against her neck. Sparks flew in his veins, he knew it was wrong.. as she repeated that it couldn't be he said softly.. "I know, but please.. just for a moment.."

He nuzzled against her, knowing this wouldn't happen again.. in his mind this was the last time he wold be able to share a nuzzle with her without it meaning anything more. He wrapped his paws around her, tackling her gently as his maw gently pressed against hers in the form of a kiss. Slowly, he pulled back, gazing at her.. He closed his eyes tightly, looking away. Her words rang in his mind.. that it couldn't be.. Yet he had never wanted anything more.. then just to be with her.

Kumbu listened and leant into his nuzzle, encased in their affection. As their maws touched her eyes went wide, but she did not pull away, their was no one here to tell her family or pride and so just relaxed and let Kane explode with his emotions, knowing how hard it must have been to bottle them up. As he pulled away and averted his eyes Kumbu sighed and said "At least if I let you love me look at me with your handsome eyes.." She said softly, and then, without thinking it happened, she opened her mouth slightly and licked him. She went bright red and pulled away quickly, punching herself hard inside her delicate mind, why did I do that?! She screamed at herself, but her feelings were much stronger then she currently knew and would slowly show themselves with time.

Many things echoed around her head as she pushed herself up from Kane, her cheeks still flushed. She didn't know what to tell mother as an excuse for their lateness, what to tell her brother when he questioned them tomorrow, what to tell Kane when the next conversation between them came. She sighed and fell backwards, a gust of air billowing up as she did so "Oh Kane... What will we do..." She said quietly her voice calm, but really she was terrified.

Kane felt his body against hers, and felt their maws meet.. Yet as he pulled away she spoke to him, her words like music and he turned his head to look at her, his eyes widening as she leaned up and licked his cheek. His eyes widened, and reality seemed to hit her as she pushed herself off, she went rather pale. He saw her let herself fall backwards, asking what they would do. In his mind panic started to creep into his own thoughts; what would the pride think when they saw them coming home late at night together? Would anyone notice? What would they say to each other now? Yet he knew he had to be the strong one, and so he walked over to her, laying next to her so his head rested on her shoulder, "We'll get through this.." He said softly. He leaned downwards, letting his tongue come out, to gently lick the top of her cheek. And despite him telling himself that this was the last time he would ever think of her like this, that it had to stop now.. The fact was that the emotions, the feelings he held for her, had only grown stronger.. as a need to be near her started to morph inside him. 

That night he returned to the den and laid down on the opposite side of the cavern, as pleasant dreams met him.. Dreams of that night. Obviously he must have talked in his sleep for when he woke his mother was smiling at him. Kimbi smiled at him, "Who is the lucky girl..." She finally asked after everyone else had gone off for a hunt, and Kane and her were the only ones. Kane shook his head. "N-No one." He said quickly, walking out without looking back to see the puzzled expression on Kimbi's face.

Days passed as Kane stayed clear of Kumbu, for he kept her words that this could never be fresh in his mind. It was obvious that news of their night together had spread like wild fire by now.. Lions laughed at him as he walked by, turning and talking among themselves.. Calling out names to him whenever he was near Kumbu like "lover boy" and such.. It hurt him so, yet one day he found himself approaching his sister..  "K-Kumbu.. " He said softly. But before he could say anything more a commotion started rising.. As two figures at the edge of the land had appeared.. One a black panther, the other a male liger... His mane a dark color. Kane only caught a few of the words, as the two came towards him, despite others growling at them. "Our son.." The female said softly... Tears were in his eyes. He looked at Kimbi, who looked shocked and growled. "Who are you people?" She asked fiercely, as the male answered her calmly, though there was an obvious pain to his eyes as he looked back to Kane.. Kane just stared back, dumbfounded... "We are Kuno's parents. Or as you might call him.. Kane.."

As Kane lent his head against her shoulder she closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, "I know... I-I just don't know how I feel about you-us.." She said shakily as his tongue brushed her cheek. The something within her began to swirl, growing in size and ferocity, making her feel sick inside. She rolled over and lay on top of Kane's soft fur, burying her head in his fur and sighing softly. "I-I'm so sorry Kane...." She said licking him on the neck. She lay there, hugging Kane, trying to gain control of her growing and confusing feelings. *Surely... Surely if I truly love him I would be willing to leave my own life behind to go have one with him... But... I can't...* She lay there, upon her brother, wrapped in guilt and fear and love, even if she didn't know it.

Kumbu followed her brother back to the den, remaining close by his side, not really caring if any lions saw them together, *I will deal with this later..* she said patiently to herself. As they wondered into the cave her other brother opened one eye, but only to close it patiently again, seeing it was only his brother and sister. She gave a silent heave of relief and lay down next to her father as the world of eternal happiness and fun began to seep in. Distantly Kumbu heard her brother speaking, but couldn't bring herself to check upon him. As the sun rose and Kane was laying awake, Kumbu arose and gave a long, luxurious stretch before following his brothers calls to the hunting grounds. She ran to catch up to the two of them, her long legs carrying her fast across the earth. She gracefully came to a stop beside her father who gave her a condescending glare and Kumbu shrank backwards, remaining quiet for the rest of the hunt. She hopped the news hadn't spread already, but it seemed as if her father always knew everything.

Kumbu was not stupid, she knew the news of their meeting would spread throughout the close knit pride faster then she wanted, but there was nothing that she could do. However, despite her willing it not to happen, she found herself falling deep into the trap of love. Whenever felines would throw snide comments towards them she would just shrink, salty water beginning to glaze her eyes, she never cried until they were home, but she couldn't stand them hurting Kane, he was her brother and nothing could change that.

On one of these particular days Kane finally approached him and she turned to face him when she called her name, her eyes filled with relief at his company. As he said no more she wondered what was wrong and she turned to find a black panther and a male liger. She heard only a few of their words as they were drowned by the growling of the surrounding pride, her pride - their pride. The female softly said "Our son.." And Kumbu stumbled backwards as her mother growled at the strangers. Kumbus face was stricken and sunken. She looked to Kane as his 'father' approached him, telling him that he was his father and the panther his mother. *They had to be lies, they had to be his name is Kane not, not Kuno....* She looked at his deep blue eyes and fell under his spell, walking towards him and rubbing his face against his affectionately *If this is true... Then I can love him, I won't have to leave my family, but-but he will always be my brother... No matter what...* Kumbu was an emotional mess as tears spilled from her green eyes onto Kane cheek. She could feel her brothers hot eyes as he realised the rumours to be true and her father walking forwards, in front of Kimbi and the two of them, growling loudly, but she didn't care what he was saying she just leant into Kane's body and whispered "K-Kane... Do you think they are your true parents...? It-It means I can love you..." She says licking his dark cheek, her face ashen and dull, not knowing what to think.
