The Kijito Pride have based themselves by the Kijito river for decades, they've seen leaders come and go, they've seen good times and bad times, and now we find them teetering on the edge of stability with an ageing leader and ageing lionesses. What happens next for this pride?

It may look like I have a staggering amount to play, but Fujo will be gone soon enough, and another lioness too...
The sound of distant roaring was undeniable. Fujo may have been on the very edge of his territory, but he knew their was something approaching. Something that could seal his fate. Where about they were, or how long they'd be, well, that was unknown. All he could do is hope; all he could do was to be prepared. With a long sigh and a swish of his tail, the old timer made his way back down the steep hill. He was glad to be going down; the journey up was beginning to tire him. He shot the sky a look; the sun was beginning to set. He'd be safe in the night, hyenas had always kept their distance. His pride would be fine for the night. They were very capable, and he was glad to have them...

"You'll be ok now, won't you Moira? We can't let a chance like this go I-"
"I'll be fine Auntie Suri, the food is what matters". The small lioness, Moira, was surrounded by around seven cubs that ranged in age. The smallest three of the bunch, her nieces and nephew, were curled up and getting some shut eye after a day of relentless playing.
The others were still messing around in the evening sunlight, kicking up dust where ever they went. Her Auntie still was raising a concerned brow, but gave in when she heard the sound of hooves. Her pride sisters were waiting patiently, well, most of them were.
Nadia, the middle in age of all the adults, was huffing impatiently. She did give a cautious glance at her two cubs still playing around. Melana and Irani were her priority at the moment. She was certain Moira could deal with them though; she had before. The oldest, most experienced lioness, suddenly made an appearance. Her name was Nima, her fur was considerably darker than the others in her pride, and her age was showing.
"I've checked past the tree's, the zebra are still there. The wind must be covering us. We'll be eating tonight my sisters". She gave a slight nod to Moira, which made the adolescent feel of some importance. Suri finally stopped worrying and walked away and stood at Nima's side. Moira glanced around for her sister, Leina. She wanted to say goodbye to her before they went off.
