Essentially, this is a tweaked version of the fantasy setting Atiya, made for "normal" TLK roleplaying. Much of it is copy-and-pasted from her fantasy profile. Her biography, in addition, is "Atiya, The Scarlet Lioness: Abridged", and the first paragraph of it is also copy-and-pasted.
Name: Atiya
Name Origin/Meaning: African, Arabic and Swahili/"Present; gift"
Nickname: The Scarlet Lioness, Scarlet
Species: Lion
Gender: Female
Age: Young adult (Akin to a nineteen-year-old human in maturity, both physical and mental)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Sexuality: Bisexual, female preference
Occupation: Healer and adventurer
Length: 4'9"
Weight: Around 300 lbs.
Personality: Easygoing, carefree and tomboyish more often than not. Can have a bit of a short fuse, especially regarding her family (even more so about her father). Seeks wisdom and understanding over mental prowess, and is especially irate with the ignorant and arrogant. Despite being cynical and self-centered at times, in the end she is loyal to friend, family and pride alike. Enjoys music and food, among other simple pleasures of life.
Appearance: Atiya looks lankier than a typical lioness of her age, despite being somewhat short. She has the typical tawny pelt of a lion, with blue eyes and fur that is slightly darker and almost a light brown color on her head, resembling short hair. Finally, she wears a scarlet-colored scarf around her neck, serving as her nickname's namesake.
Abilities and Weaknesses:
+ Understands how to create and use herbal medicines, remedies, poultices, 'potions' and the like
+ Thanks to understanding anatomy as a healer, knows how to claw various Pride Lands species in vital or debilitating places
+/- When she makes an oath to do something, she does all in her power to keep it... even if self-endangering or petty
- More likely to be inhibited by the pain of injuries than most lions
- Has a hard time turning down a free meal or drink
Biography:
Atiya was born in a pride calling itself 'The Ghosts'; most members of the pride believed in, and respected, the forces of the hereafter. From her youth, Atiya was particularly fond of the belief that the great kings of old watched over the land, appearing in the night sky as stars. Her father Mosi, a white lion, was a mighty and respected warrior of the pride, much to the concealed chagrin of her father's close companion, Ishara. Leading the pride was a wizened lion named Faraji, a mysterious lion due to his secretive nature. What was known was his respect for creatures great and small, a desire to settle disputes ethically, and his astounding medicinal talent taught to him by monkey healers. Many of the lionesses -- Atiya's mother Aziza includes -- studied under Faraji, learning ways to mend wounds and cure illness through his herbalism.
Many, however, did not realize Ishara's jealousy toward Mosi and his family. Ever since Ishara and Mosi had become warriors for the pride, they were evenly matched in martial prowess and bravery. However, Mosi was admired for his earnest and heroic mindset, which Faraji felt made Mosi a lion after his own heart. Ishara, however, was merciless and relied on cruelty in combat, and as such, Mosi's righteous ways made him a mightier lion in the eyes of the pride leader. Over time, Ishara sought his vengeance on Mosi, and in time, things began to fall into place for him. Learning of a group of assassins in the Shadowlands calling itself the Tusk, Ishara joined the sinister brotherhood, slowly rising through the ranks as a murderer amongst rogue lions and hyenas alike.
Meanwhile, Atiya had always been a curious, adventurous lioness, from her cub days to her adolescence. Always up to various escapades with her best friend Jasiri -- the son of Ishara and a lioness named Chausiku -- the two lived their days in constant excitement, going through thick and thin and, even if barely, coming out on top. While Chausiku was proud to have Jasiri take after his (not-often-there) father, Aziza was constantly concerned for Atiya's well-being. Then, at last, danger struck fierce. Coming across a pair of hyena thugs on the outskirts of the Pridelands during their adolescence, Atiya and Jasiri were forced to fight for their lives. While the two lions survived and killed one of the hyenas, Jasiri was seriously injured, remaining barely able only by Atiya's medical abilities. For Atiya, her first slain hyena was different from hunting prey. It wasn't about food for her, a one-sided hunt, but was instead an evenly-matched battle to the death where anyone could have perished. Though she'd tended to others' injuries before, to see her best friend close to death was downright frightening.
Returning home, Atiya was of course scolded by Aziza and Mosi, though Chausiku was gracious to have Jasiri returned alive. However, Faraji spoke in private to Atiya that same night. The elder leader commended Atiya's spirit and fighting skills, as she had suffered little harm during the scuffle. Further, he admired her talents as a healer. Beneath the night sky, Faraji admitted his time to leave the living was drawing near. In his words though, he told Atiya that he "saw a soul pure as the moon within, and a fire of ambition in her heart burning like the sun's light". He bade Atiya to never give up on either her inner light nor her deep passion, but to follow her dreams. In time, Jasiri began to become more and more jealous of Atiya the survivor, his own abilities being called to question by other males in the pride.
As time went by, and Atiya reached young adulthood, Ishara's scheming came to fruition. Coming to the pride one night with a small band of Tusk assassins among him, he gave but one ultimatum to the pride: to be made the leader, or to be slaughtered. Faraji refused to be intimidated by Ishara, but knew he could not afford the sacrifice of his fellow lions. Surrendering to Ishara, the noble old lion was slain for his 'cowardice', in Ishara's words, with his throat clawed open in a single stroke. As Mosi rose to avenge his leader, as did the other warriors, Ishara sicked his fellow murderers upon the warriors and their kin. At Mosi's orders, Atiya and Aziza fled, while Jasiri and Chausiku tried to reason with Ishara. Driven mad by his yearning for vengeance, Ishara ordered Chausiku, his own mate, to be killed like the rest of the rebelling warriors. Jasiri, heartbroken by the death of his mother and the corruption of his father, fled for his life, swearing to end Atiya's as "compensation" for his life going horridly awry.
Hiding for their safety, Atiya and Aziza returned to the pride's territory. Jasiri, who ran after Atiya and Aziza did, was nowhere in sight. The warriors and their families, along with some of the assassins, were dead. Faraji's corpse was still there, his throat torn out. And finally, Mosi was dead, his effects brutalized as if by a torturous death. Atiya knew nothing about Ishara's band of killers, nor his plot, but she promised herself one thing: to find and slay Ishara for what had happened to the innocents of her pride, as well as her father. Thus Atiya travels the Pridelands, gathering information and influence while adventuring to aid those who need her help. In the end, she plans to locate the Tusk and slaughter it and Ishara like he and his goons did to much of the Ghost pride. Until then, Atiya does her best to act out with her soul's purity, even if it had been marred by the nightmarish night of her father's death, and especially with the fiery ambition of her heart.
