Appearance
Zevulun has large, marbled spots that bubble and blot across his pelt. The spots are a rich, dark brown while his base coat color is a creamy yellow. He is tall and lean, though his scruffy, unkempt fur hides a bit of his boniness. His eyes are a stark, icy blue, and his underside is even lighter in color than his upper.
Personality
Zev is withdrawn and sweet, a deep feeler. He carries himself hesitantly around others, his head held low. Shy as he is, he's eager to develop close bonds and can become insecurely attached to those who return his affections. He's particularly fond of cubs and finds that his insecurities melt away in their company.
Although Zevu is most comfortable being alone, he longs for appreciation and acceptance from others. He is intelligent despite insisting upon his own dimwittedness; when confident and in control of his emotions, he is an excellent problem solver.
Backstory
Zevulun was raised in a small clan of male cheetahs, led by his father and uncles. Zevu was particularly close with his brother and littermate Tali, who moved into the clan with Zevu when their mother disappeared.
Zevu struggled for his father's approval, ultimately to no avail. Tali was the favorite son, and though Tali disliked how the clan treated Zevu, he held himself responsible for falling into line and obeying their wishes for his future. This often left Zevu behind, feeling out of place. To keep himself engaged and entertained, Zev often ran off and got into trouble, further deepening his father's ire.
Tali was a mentor for Zevu and would help him cope with his struggles. Aside from this solo adventures, Zevu's relationship with his brother was the only safety he knew as a cub, rejuvinating him and helping him feel whole. When Zevu ran off, Tali was the first to find his brother and join in the mischief, concealing their exploits from the rest of the clan.
On one of Zevu's secret outings, he accidentally angered a rhinoceros. While trying to detain the rhino, Tali was killed, and Zevu's father banished him from the clan. To this day Zevu lives alone, wandering the plains and calling a small stretch of land home. Years later now, he spends more time than he would like to admit mourning his brother's death and blaming himself. In times of grief, he visits a tall bluff that stretches above the clouds, with a sky so dark that every star twinkles a different color. He feels Tali's presence there, believing his brother is with the great kings of the past, listening to him as he did years ago.[/font]
