Name: Lune
Nickname: "Tiger", by his older brother due to the scars on his back.
Species: Lion
Age: Cub
Gender: Male
Description:
Dark orange pelt with creamy underfur, light blue eyes, with cub spots on all his limbs. He has four scars marked by the slash of a lion’s claw on his back, from under his right shoulder to the left side of his waist.
Behaviour:
He used to be a happy and playful cub, but after the land started dying off and the tragedy that struck his pride, things weren’t laughs and rainbows for him anymore. Now he is an unconfident cub, with a heart full of confusion and anger, which is often shown when he sees injustice and he’s incapable to do anything about it. But the company of his older brother is the scale that balances those feelings, because he still has someone to look up to and joke with, making him feel much better when he’s down. However, he can detect some darkness in his brother’s heart as well, which sometimes worries him.
History:
Lune came from a relatively small pride, where he had only known cub games and the love from his parents on the first days of his life. He had an older brother, Targre, who had left the pride prematurely long ago when Lune was just a newborn, and he could barely remember him when he started growing up. Lune’s grimmer days started when the times of the land’s decay came, when all the vegetation started to wither, and entire prides of lions perished one after another. This particular pride, quite short of lions, and yet in a balanced state of its members had become a nomad pride, in search for a new land where they hoped they could find new sources of prey and water… but a source was sadly too much to ask in the verge of their extinction, and they only had survived from lost creatures or, with more luck, a small herd; however, it also looked as if herd after herd they kept getting much smaller in numbers and more poor in health than the previous one, to the point that they stopped being enough for the stomachs meant to be fed. No cub in the entire pride felt the joy and happiness of their earlier days again, and Lune was no exception.
One evening, a flock of vultures started to fly in circles around the pride. The eldest lion, Lune’s father, as if realizing what it meant, alerted the pride and ordered the stronger members to stand in defense and the weaker ones to run ahead with the cubs. The vultures had marked the newest target for a group of assassin rogue lions, whose only belief in survival was that of the fittest, but to that they included the elimination of those competing with them for resources, not caring a single bit if that meant reducing the lion population in such desperate times. They had, however, made a pact with the vultures for them to help in spotting any creature as well as whole lion prides much easier within a big range. They offered in exchange a feast on the remains in the case of lions.
The attack had started as quickly as the elder realized it was coming, and even though they fought bravely, they were outnumbered; the lions that stayed were all slaughtered, and the ones who escaped were hunted down, except for Lune, who managed to hide in a cave small enough for him.
Under the first light of the next morning, guided by an empty hope, Lune came out of the cave and returned to where the lions had fought for the pride; and there he gazed upon the horrific view of his family’s corpses being eaten by vultures… a scene that would mark the beginning of his hatred, and would stay with him in the years that later came. He was still very young to have seen it coming, but one of the assassin lions was still there, and had found him lurking around, which made Lune feel more afraid than he had ever been, as well as stupid for returning to where the attack took place. The evil lion cornered him and pressed him against the ground with his paw, digging his claws on his back while having fun inflicting pain to the cub. But all in a sudden, another lion attacked from behind and skillfully killed him. During this move, Lune’s back was slashed by the evil lion, but it didn’t matter afterwards, for the new lion that rescued him identified himself as his long gone older brother, Targre, who told him they would both be hunted down if they didn’t move fast. So without an explanation of what his brother was doing there, they both ran off together and avoiding being tracked down as best as they could. Both in search for hope in a new land, and Lune hoped for his brother’s past to be eventually revealed.
EDIT: I just made a few changes to Lune's background history. I felt the one I wrote before didn't quite make sense with the current roleplays going on. With Lune being just a cub I guess it's harder to give him a big background before the time the roleplay takes place in =P
