Name: Riku
Nickname: Reek
Species: Lion
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Description:
Riku's eyes are a hazel, almost yellow-ish colour. He has dark fur covering his well built body, save for his underbelly, and the tips of his paws, which are covered by a paler, lighter shade of brown. There are also three dots of this shade of brown which appear side-by-side under his left eye, curving in line with his eye's apex. His mane is a fiery red, stylishly spiked mass, the tips of which forming a choppy fringe which just falls short of covering his eyes. Spiky, red fur also clings to the back of his legs, as well as the tip of his tail.
Behaviour:
Riku is quite the loner, and finds it hard to let a lot of people in, unless they have known him since childhood, or are willing to spend time trying to crack him. This withdrawn nature does tend to increase around cubs, and towards them, he does have a short fuse. He would never hurt a cub, but sometimes, his bark is just as bad as his bite. Riku tends to be over-protective of his friends and family, simply because of the disappearance of his brother. If you were to even refer to putting one of them in danger, Riku would say, or even do something to ensure it didn't happen. This could end up being one of his biggest downfalls, however, as he tends to be very headstrong when it comes to situations of conflict.
History:
Riku was born, along with his twin brother Keanu, into a well respected, close family. Growing up, he would enjoy playing around with not only his brother, but also his cousins, and his older sister, Helani. This almost idealistic childhood continued until a day which still haunts Riku's dreams now. The sun had faded, and rain clouds had began their descent on the plains of Africa, moisturizing the lush, green landscapes with their downpour. Riku and Keanu had originally planned to leave their little play area long before hand, but as usual, they had become ignorant to time, and before they knew it, night had taken over. Finally deciding it was time to return to their parents, Keanu and Riku started their journey back to the pride.
And that's when the confusion took hold. A loud, muffling sound could be heard overhead, and turning to see his brother's worried expression, another deafening noise, similar to that of a stampede, became audible to Riku from behind. They began to run, convinced that something had scared the local buffalo, but as they gasped for oxygen, two beams of light shot out in front of them, from the same direction as the stampeding noise. Riku screamed for his brother to pick up the pace, as he did his own. His paws became a blur of dark brown, among the tall blades of grass, the beams of light grew stronger and stronger, and the muffling noise almost blew Riku's eardrum, his senses continued to heighten, as his surroundings became louder, harsher, more dangerous, and then, the bang. Jumping, Riku almost stumbled to fall, but instead managed to pick up his pace, shouting to his brother to attempt to do the same. There was no response. The stampeding noise had also stopped, and the muffling noise seemed to travel off into the distance. Stopping, Riku shifted, just hoping to see his brother's tired, terrified face just metres behind him. Instead, Riku was met with the sight of his brothers limp body, being carried in a dark green blanket, by a creature unknown to a young lion cub.
As Riku stood, totally unsure of what to do, he witnessed the creature take his brother into a large machine like structure, with four rubber wheels. Suddenly, the beams of light returned, as did the noise of the stampede, as the machine rapidly moved away from him. Feeling adrenaline take hold of him, Riku raced after the machine, vowing to save his only brother, but as the mysterious structure built up speed, Riku's fatigue became too much, and he collapsed to the floor, exhausted.
In the years following, Riku became cold and standoffish. He and his sister held a very strong bond, as did he and a few childhood friends. However, some of the cousins he once played with now blame Riku for the disappearance of his brother, causing him to become even more introvert. The last blow for him, however, was the passing of his parents, both of natural causes. Even his bond with his sister has now started to deteriorate, leaving him completely isolated from the rest of the pack.
Can anyone bring the old Riku back?
