As this is based on the aftermath of something that happened earlier, it's important to have a common backstory, so please read this before you start posting in the RolePlay to avoid confusion!
Also check back for edits every now and then - as the RP progresses more history might be revealed by the characters that is important for other characters to be aware of too!

Alright:
It's a matter of three prides (or mainly two) in a power struggle. (Or rather, rulers of large territories/Kings. I'd like this to be built a little differently than, say, The Lion King. Here the prides are very large and the members are spread out over their territory in smaller groups and not all living at an equivalent of Pride Rock.)
The Mashujaa pride had always been the most powerful of the three; a brute force with a large territory to look after.
Isiziba was the second strongest pride and had long been longing to surpass their rival Mashujaa and seize command. Over quite some time there was tension, and just general dislike, between them and Mashujaa. This until a young cub of Isiziba was accidentally killed on Mashujaa territory. This gave Isiziba a reason to attack to conquer Mashujaa and did so with full force.
The Lumatha pride hadn't really been picking sides in the conflict so far. They wanted to stay neutral, but was at the beginning of the war partial to Isiziba, even if they never officially stated so, hoping to get a share of Mashujaa territory once said pride was defeated... Because while Mashujaa weren't taken completely by surprise, but they hadn't expected Isiziba to strike with such force and for quite some time, it indeed looked like Isiziba were going to win.
However, Mashujaa recovered and the odds evened out. For a long time it was difficult to tell which side was going to win - Mashujaa had their strength, but Isiziba were tenacious and kept attacking furiously, refusing to give up. It went back and forth a lot. Sometimes for a few days it looked like Isiziba were going to win and sometimes it was the other way around. (Think something like WW1 trench warfare.) Things just weren't progressing very much.
The turning point came when the Lumatha pride eventually decided that they rooted more for Mashujaa after all and allied with them to join the battles. This was too much for the already weakened Isiziba pride and after some time they were forced to surrender.
As a result, to punish Isiziba for starting the war, Isiziba's territory is split in half to be shared between Mashujaa and Lumatha and the Isiziba pride told to pretty much dissolve...
-------
Other story notes:
- Map:
- We start the RolePlay approximately one month after the final battle ended. So the war is still very much remembered and is still on the animals' minds...
- The Eastern front was known to be the "bloodiest". Here neither forces made much progress in either direction and both sides fought furiously. Most Lumatha soldiers were stationed here, as Mashujaa's main army were focusing on conquering the south, but Mashujaa had several companies in the east also and even Lumatha and Mashujaa's combined forces could not drive Isiziba back. (Also, there's a geographical issue, I know :P, as the front in "the east" for Mashujaa is the front in "the west" for Isiziba. But since the winners write history this front line will be referred to as the Eastern front!)
- The Northern front was the quietest since it was established the latest. By this time there very few Isiziba soldiers stationed up north, as forces were needed for reclaiming the south and defending the Eastern front. When Lumatha attacked, Isiziba pretty much let them advance.
-------
There's likely more to come as we go along
Within this basic outline you can pretty much make up your character(s)'s own stories and experiences. Everyone didn't necessarily battle on the same fronts and different things happen at different places. We'll be making the detailed story up as we go along, which is the whole idea with an RP :P
