=sad attempt at being cool.

The muddy brown water seemed to mock the tawny lioness with its utter inedible texture as it grated over her tongue. Her scrawny frame reminded her always of her banishment.
The murderer...
She swung her pointed profile so her nose faced towards the proud rock that jutted prominently into the sunrise in the distance, then looked back to glare at the land she now resided in. Termite mounds were abundant, but every other natural resource seemed to be dried up.
Zira flicked her swollen tongue across her dry nose in an attempt to moisten it, a habit she hadn't quite gotten rid of.
Her blood-orange irises glowed with the bitter insanity of her mind, and the images of her bloodied, broken mate swept through it once again, forcing her to relive the past over and over...
She thought back on a time when she lived in the Pridelands and was proud, fat and healthy, and her nose wrinkled in disgust. To think she had once been kind...
The thought nearly made her laugh.
