||OOC| This can be a short roleplay, I just need to get my skills back up to snuff, or warmed up at least. After all, I think it's been almost a year since I last RPed! Le gasp...! I'll use an art character (my fursona :3) for this one...so it's going to be semi-fantasy.| ||Character Pic| fanart.lionking.org/Artists/Baasi/Fursona2chart.png | Maybe it was the light that glittered like fireflies filtering through the leaves, the subtle glow of the moon on the long blades of savannah grass, or the cool breeze that extended its calming touch across the land. Something about tonight was so serene; too peaceful and quiet to be a night in the wilds of Africa. So were the thoughts of the lone lioness that lay basking in the beauty of sundown. With a coat of grayish-blue, she was almost invisible in the shadow of her favorite Acacia tree. This was her favorite time of day, to be sure. It shone in her blue eyes, in her soft smile. She stretched, reaching out with her front paws and standing only to resettle closer to the tree. Baasi was far from any pride; she had been on her own for some time now, but it was hard to tell whether she minded this solitude or not. Not expecting anyone to be within earshot, she let the dull roar of her yawn frighten a few of the avians sleeping in her tree and watched them fly away until they were no longer visible in the dark. Baasi relaxed, flicking the red tuft of her tail as she awaited the sleep that so irksomely evaded her beneath the stars...

(my first ever proper rp post =P go easy on me, hehe)
The jackal's ears pricked up as the sound of a roar carried like thunder through the air, and he was immediately on his feet and alert, his gaze following the arc of birds scattered by the noise. He gazed out into the dark night, ears pricked forward to the direction of the roar as he sniffed at the air, searching for any scents carried on the cool night breeze. It was not long before he scented the unfamiliar predator, he could tell simply from the array of aromas carried on the breeze that it was a large predator, female, and alone. His curiosity getting the better of him, the jackal started to briskly pad towards the predator, intrigued to know what sort of creature was passing through his territory.
Sensing he was closing in on the predator, the jackal slowed his pace, picking his way around obstacles that would give him away. He crept forward in the undergrowth, keeping his tail tucked beneath him to conceal the white tip that would surely give him away. He sensed he was close now, but still he could not make out the other animal in the shadows.
'Drat!' He cursed under his breath, surveying his apparantly empty surroundings. When he could not find the source of the sound and scent, he lay down, head resting on his paws and nose snuffling at the richly scented earth as he planned to wait out the other predator. Though his plan was quickly abolished as he accidentally inhaled some dust and his silence erupted in a loud sneeze.
'Aa-aa-achoo!'
