A Day In The Sun

[Nailyila]

Nailyila padded out of the den and stretched her legs, blinking the sleep out of her eyes. She padded slowly down Pride Rock and into the soft grass, heading toward the small pond that was located a further ways out. She heard the sound of many animals around her, but she wasn't hungry right now... She was only thirsty. She padded onto a roack that overlooked the small pond and layed down in the sun. "It's so warm..." She said to herself, smiling. She sat up and leaned over to get a drink, lapping at the cold water. She spotted an antelope further into the grasslands. "Finally... Breakfast..." She said narrowing her eyes in a smile. She lunged off the rock, noiselessly and took off after the small herd of antelope, lunging for one in particular, grasping it's throat, giving the final death blow. She dragged it by the hind leg back to the pond and sat down, and began eating her catch.

I'm new too... mind if I join in? I haven't posted this character yet... but I will soon.

Across the other side of the pond, a completely average looking lion stood looking at his reflection in the glistening water. He scowled, wondering why he had been cursed with blandness. Generic thought of his name for the day. Today he would be known as "Prince Elspeth Tjapaljarri the second." He nodded. That was a name worthy of a special lion. Unlike him. Generic groaned loudly, frowning at his reflection. He unsheathed his claws and scooped up some mud, wiping a vertical stripe onto his face. Generic grinned. That was better. He took some more mud and splattered a few spots across his thigh.

[Nailyila]

Nailyila looked up from her meal, noticing a lion a distance away from her splattering mud on himself. "Hello?" She called out as friendly as she could. "Can i help you with something?" She called louder so the lion could hear her.

[Goanna]

Generic raised his head as grandly as he could. "Why, hello there," he called out. He squinted across the lake, and caught the eye of a lioness. Generic decided to introduce himself. He could try out his new name. As majestically as he could, he stepped away from the waters edge and.... slipped on the mud, landing facedown on the bank.

[cheezeegriff]

Grimork the crocodile was watching the strange lion on the riverbank, wondering why he was covering himself in mud. Very odd. Odd enough to tickle Grimork's curiosity. So instead of claiming his kill straight away he merely watched, from just below the muddy water's surface.
When the lion backed away from the water's edge though, he realised he had waited too long. The lion was too far away from the water's edge now and he wouldn't be able to catch him in one shot... but wait. He slipped. Grimork grinned, and with a thrust of his mighty tail, launched his body and head, jaws gaping, out of the water at the lion.

[Nailyila]

Nailyila gasped. "Hang on!" She shrieked. She lunged across the pond and grabbed the strange lion by the scruff and away from the waters edge. "What were you doing? You almost got killed!" She shrieked at the strange lion, and then back to the waters edge seeing if the crocodile was gone. She sighed. "Nevermind that, are you alright is the important thing."

[Goanna]

Generic squealed in fright as the crocodile lunged at him. In a split second, the lioness had grabbed him and dragged him away from the waters edge. Any longer and he wouldn't have made it. He stood shaking, his mane wet, and his teeth chattering, paralysed to the spot. The lioness was hurling questions at him, but he was too frightened to answer. Worst of all, the brief encounter with water had disintigrated the beautiful markings he had bestowed upon himself.

[Nailyila]

Nailyila let out a sigh as the lion didn't answer. He was obviously to frightened to answer. "Alright, come on. Dry yourself off. It's alright. Your safe now." Nailyila said, comforting the frightened lion. "Do you want your markings back?" Nailyila said, going to the water's edge and scooping up some mud in her paw and padding back to the lion. "Here you are." She said, extending her paw.
