The Sound of Boredom

Jali was a little suprised when the cute lioness cub nuzzled against his chest. She then pointed out a noise, which he hadn't heard as he was paying too much attention to the cub. And when Jali has his attention on one thing, he blocks out the rest of the world.

The cheetah adolescent was about to pick the cub up and put her on his back when she asked if one of them could roar for her. "Of course." The male replied simply.

He took in a big breath of air before letting out an almighty roar, as loud as he could make it. "How about that?"

Jail's roar sounded loud enough for anyone to hear to Zulu. "Nice one, Jal. Wish I could roar like that," he said. He sat and waited for another roar in the distance. He was sure that Jali's would get someone's attention. As Zulu strained his neck and lifted an ear waiting for the sound, imagine his surprise when a roar came. Only, it was right behind his head.

Abeni was just looking for trouble. When she spotted two cheetahs about fifty feet from her, she grinned a naughty little grin, and began stalking. She loved picking on cheetahs. They were all so skinny and feeble. Suddenly one of them roared, rather loudly for a cheetah. She was startled, so she laid her concentration on the marbled one. Finally she was right behind him. She stuck her head forward, right behiind his head, and let out a roar as loud as she could.

Zulu's heart stopped as the roar he awaited came from right behind him. He widened his eyes and screamed. His fright forced him to fall forward onto his stomache. His feet and legs shuffled as he struggled to get up and see what was behind him.

[Sarafina]

"Jali that was awesome! That should get her attention" she giggled and nuzzled him again.

Sereana heard a roar from the distance. That had to be someone with Nadayshana she thought. So she roared again to make sure it was to her. Then she heard a roar that kind of sounded wierd. It wasnt a nice roar. She started trotting in that direction.

Nadayshana heard a roar. But it wasnt coming from the right direction. It was another lion. Nadayshana screamed. "Um... Jali...who is that??!!!" she said hiding under him. Then she heard another roar coming in the direction it came from before. " Mother?!" she said out loud but sort of softly. "Please be you!" She stayed under Jali and waited.

Jali smiled at Zulu. "Heh, thanks." He then heard another roar, which was almost right behind him. Before he could turn around Zulu fell tp the floor. Jali spun around, making sure Shana was behing him and started growling at the form infront of him. He heard her voice and replied. "I don't know.. stay where you are."

It was a lioness. "What do you want?" He said as he glared at the lioness.

Sereana ran faster. She got to where she could see them. She got low. Then she saw Shana. "Nadayshana!!"

"Mother?! Jali my mom can help you guys if you want?" She looked at him. "Mother. Help them! This person is scary."

Sereana ran a little closer. She got close enough to hear Nadayshana. Sh walked next to Jali. Se growld at the lioness also. "Why are you looking for trouble?" she said in a furious voice.

The rotten red lioness fell to the ground laughing at the king cheetah's response. She rolled on her back, kicking her legs in the air. Finally she rolled to her belly, still smiling and sighing with laughter. "That was great!" she exclaimed. She then saw the other cheetah growl at her, and a female lion, much older than her, ran up and stood ground. "Ah, don't sweat it, you guys. Just havin a little fun, that's all," she said still with an ornery grin on her face. "Hey there, big guy," he retorted at the cheetah on the ground. "Didn't scare ya, did I freckles?" She shoved the cheetah in a rather rude playful manner.

Zulu glared at the adolescent lioness in front of him. Suddenly she shoved him as she joked about his startle. He pushed her paw off, and his eyes grew red and veiny. "Get out of here," he barked at her. When the lioness kept her rump planted on the ground, he stood up and pressed his face against her's. "I said leave," he said calmly yet angrily.

[Sarafina]

"Mommy......." Nadayshana said while the other lioness got a little closer.

Serean looked at Nadayshana then back at the other lioness. "Leave now.." Sereana did not wan to get violent. ut if she had to she would. She stayed where she was to show that he wasnt moving.

Nadayshana sat underneath Jali. She didnt want to be wide open for a good shot to get hi or stolen. She sat there and watched as Zulu got pushed around. "Dont touch hm" she said softly where only Jali could hear her. "Mommy.." she said running under her instead. She grabbed onto her leg and hid her face. She was about to cry but she held it in. Well she tried.

Sereana felt Nadayshana run under her. Then she felt her on her leg. "Its ok. Im here." she said nuzzling her then looking at the lioness. "What do you want anyways??" Sereana said in a stern voice. She growled and teeth were showing and she was getting angry.

Abeni blew in the cheetahs face as he confronted her. As he flinched and stepped back, the older lioness asked her what she wanted with the pitiful group. "I told you I was just messin around. Jeez." She flipped her tail and turned to her left. "I guess I'll just leave now," she said smiling with her head high, eyes almost shut.

The bratty lioness blew in Zulu's face, and he winced and pulled away. As she started to leave, Zulu growled back, "Good. Who needs you?"

Abeni stopped, still facing the same direction. "Unless..." she hesitated before finishing, and turned her head back to them. "Unless you guys are up for a treat."

Zulu wanted nothing to do with the lioness. "No thanks for me," he answered. "I don't consider having several panic attacks from your jokes a treat."

[Sarafina]

"Nope i am all set for tonight." Sereana said with an attitude. She looked down at Nadayshana who was still shaking. "You can leave. We dont need your treat. Go find someone else to treat. Some who actualy wants you around" Sereana said with a little smirk on her face.

Nadayshana was still holdin on to her moms leg for dear life. She couldnt help but worry about the others. " Oh please go away." she said softly into her moms fur. They wanted nothing to do with her. Why wont she leave?? Nadayshana said while looking upfor a split second then putting her head back i her moms leg.

"Lets just say that a treat for us would be you leaving." Sereana said to the lioness. Sereana has had it. She couldnt handle this anymore. She had to hold herself back. If she didnt, the lioness would be in BIG troule.

Jali stood there listening as Sereana and the lioness traded insults. He waited growing tired of her nonsense and so started to move one paw at a time across the dry dirt with a smirk on his face. He stood up on his front paws a little and then pushed down on the lioness chest making her get pushed back by the force and landing on her rump

Sereana watches Jali took it over.
Nadayshana ran behind a tree and stayed there. She was too scared to do anything.
Sereana backed Jali up and stood a little bit back from him but pretty much next to him. Sereana was kind of useless when there were two cheaths with her. But then again they are dealing with another lioness. "Fine tell us your treat. See if we want it.. If not you leave."

Zulu witnessed Jali pin the annoying red lioness to the ground. He smiled a bit and stepped forward, glaring at her like the others.

Abeni was taken aback by her fall. When she saw it was a cheetah, she was completely embarrassed. How could SHE get knocked down by a cheetah? At least it was the stronger one who had roared so loudly. She clenched her teeth and glared at him. Then she thought quickly. "Fine. You want a treat?" She barked at them. "Y'all don't look so good," she retorted. "You look thirsty, and a bit hungry. I do to. Can't you see?" she said genturing to her torso. "It's the dry season and there's nothing worth a crap here that's gonna be good for us. You can see the dirt." She was getting uncomfortable under the cheetah's pin. "I was GOING to take you to a place I know. A place my pride is going, where there's food and water. Stay here and you'll croak in no time."

Zulu heard this and his eyes grew wide, and his ears perked up. Water? It had been scarce, and it was so dry out that it might get worse. And most of the heards moved this time of year, leaving less food. Though he didn't like the lioness, he was willing to put up with her for food. He looked at the others, hoping they would agree to go.

Jali turned and looked at Zulu after hearing the lioness boast about being able to take them to food and water, the look on his face was begging Jali to accept her offer, they couldn't survive much longer and they had the cub to look after as well, Jali turned back and looked down at her, stepping back allowing her to rise. "If we agree to let you join us, we will all be making the decisions together, you will not be leader !" Jali steped back so he and Zulu were standing side by side

Abeni rose, breathing deeply to get some air back in her lungs. She looked at the cheetah that had pinned her. "That's fine," she said, "if you wanna get lost. I know where to go. My pride has already left and I went to find others who may need help. I don't mean to say I want to be all time leader. I'm saying I have been there, and you probably haven't," she said with a smirk, popping her head to the side and shutting her eyes.

Zulu was relieved to hear Jali say they could go. He wasn't sure of the mother and cub, though. Would they come, too? Zulu looked to the red lioness. "I'll go. But I agree with Jali. You can lead us, but we're going as a team. We're not going because we wanna follow you."

Sereana didnt say much. All she really needed to do is nod. "I also agree with Jali.If they go, i guess i go too. " She looked in the direcction of her cub. She gave a nod and Nadayshana came over.
Shana looked at everyone. She was scared but she made sure she didnt really show it. Nadayshana sat down underneath her mother. She watched as teh lioness and the cheetahs were talking. Her mother would jump in once in a while but she wasnt the talking kind.
Sereana watched as they kept talking. "So i guess we shallbe going now. Ok then." She said that while picking up Nadayshana and putting her onher back.

Abeni opened her eyes slightly, looked back to the group, and smiled. "Great then," she said. "We have to head north, so lets get going. Once we get back to my pride's place I can follow their scent from there." She turned left and started walking throught the short, dry grass. Sill ith a smile on her face she stated, "So I guess I should know all your names, and whrere you're from. I'm Abeni. And you names are...."

Zulu looked at Jali, then started following the lioness. Knowing her personality, he was reluctant, but it was water he wanted. "I'm Zulu," he said. "I'm a wanderer. Have been most of my life."

Jali watched as Sereana and her cub Shana moved forward after Zulu who was walking alongside Abeni, telling her about himself. He was very reluctant to travel with the lioness as he didn't trust her at all, and he wasn't sure if she actually knew herself where to find water and food, but he had no choice, stay and perish or follow and save them all. With a sigh he moved forward scuffing the dry dusty ground beneath him, leaves crackled with no moisture left in them, ants scurried out of the way scavenging for anything they could see. Jali knew it was going to be a long arduous journey they were about to undertake, and he had to have his wits about him as he had others to worry about and keep safe. He heard the lioness ask his name but didn't really feel inclined to answer, she can just wait till I am ready he said , with a smirk of his own on his face.

Rehema lay upside down on a rock trying to count clouds. She squinted and pointed to the only one in the sky. "One. That should do it for studying." she declared. She rolled off the rock lazyily and landed in the soft sand with a dusty thud. The sound of approaching footsteps alerted her and she attempted to scramble up the rock, failing and falling down twice before regaining her posture.
