The Quest Begins

Xanthos was upon him in a second. The lion that had viciously attacked Kondo was now on the ground, pinned under the fierce gray leopard.

Xanthos let intense heat from his paws scorch the stranger's fur until the scent of burning hair permeated his nostrils.

"How dare you..." the leopard breathed, his red eyes like burning blood. "Coward! How dare you attack those obviously weaker than you!"

Koza growled at the other lions "Im starving!I havent eaten in days!I dont know how to hunt so im going to eat this cub. I know ill feel bad later but its to tempting to miss!" Then suddenly the heat and starvation got to him. He tumbled to the ground next to Kondo and exaughstion made his eyes begin to droop. His little adolescent man began to droop over his face.

Then all he saw was pitch black. He layed on the floor on the ground with his eyes closed and mouth open. He invisioned his family. His parents were dead and his older brother was probally ruling the land he had came from. Then he mummbled "Man....M...m...metal machine....umph.."

Tura froze as she heard shouts of anger, “Akua, did you hear that?” She cried. Her mate nodded. “Stay here, I’ll go see what’s going on.” Tura jumped to her paws then ran towards the sound of the commotion, as she drew nearer she heard the familiar voice of the leopard, "How dare you..." He began, "Coward! How dare you attack those obviously weaker than you!" Tura raised a paw, torn between going to help out or staying put. She shrugged and crept forward slowly. She peered through the long grass and gasped, the leopard had a paw on a new comer in a dominant sort of way. Tura bit her lip then stood up and walked out of the grass, "Im starving!I havent eaten in days!I dont know how to hunt so im going to eat this cub. I know ill feel bad later but its to tempting to miss!" Tura wrinkled her nose in disgust, “Why eat another lion, why not get one of us to hunt, I’ll even teach you.” She said softly. She didn’t speak again but just sat and watched as the newcomer slowly slumped down and fall asleep, "Man....M...m...metal machine....umph.."” He mumbled. Tura cocked her head on one side then turned to face the others, “Does anyone know what that means?” She asked.

Ma-akua went to follow his mate but decided against it. He waited for a few minutes pacing up and down. After what felt like an eternity Ma-akua gave in and raced after his mate. He crouched in the same placed Tura had crouched and watched curiously as she started addressing the leopard. He looked at the leopard and growled, he wasn’t just going to sit around and watch his mate mingle with the commoners. Swiftly he walked over to his mate and stood beside her protectively. He glared at the unknown group of animals and then finally the leopard. “Tura we should get going.” He said his voice low and a hint of hostility in it. Tura glared at Ma-akua. “No, I want to see if everyone is okay.” She snapped.

Moodily she walked nearer the leopard. “Please explain what’s going on.” She said, respect in her every word. Ma-akua glared at his mate then sat down, teeth bared. Tura glared at him, then the sleeping lion and finally back to the leopard.

Makena looked in awe as the hungry lion fell to the ground, 'Amazing!' she thought as she looked at the sleeping lion. Her anger had swiftly vanished as soon as she heard what the strange lion had said in his sleep, "Man....M...m...metal machine....umph."

"Metal Machine?" She repeated in confusion while tilting her head to the side.

She looked up when a lioness had asked about the mumbling of the sleeping lion, 'Were they here before?' Makena thought, she didn't remember if they were already in the group or they just came by.

She sighed and shook her head in reply to the lioness' question.

She noticed that the lioness' mate was a bit more hostile, so she smiled and backed away a little as to give him and his mate some more space.

'I guess I could go eat now, Kondo should be safe with Lorn close by him. She thought and made her way to the dead antelope, she took a small portion; it was all she needs to fill her up. She started feeding and it was pretty tasty.

Koza looked around for a while... "Im sorry i tried to eat the cub, I never learned to hunt. I just want to find my family. But i need food to continue on." Koza layed near a water hole and huffed. He stared into the water. In the reflection he pictured his father, his mother, and his brother surrounding him. Along with his best friend. Then Koza shuddered as he thought about his best friend; she had died not too long ago from an elephant stampede.

Koza got up and began to pad away, slowly. As he walked he shaked furiously cause of his lack of food.

The leopard let the starving lion go, then turned to the lioness. He flicked an ear when he heard Koza mention something about metal and machines, but thought nothing of it, thinking that the adolescent was just crazed.

He raised his eyebrows--her tone was respectful, or at least she tried to put respect into her voice, but Xanthos could sense that she somehow thought that she was better than those around her.

"This lion tried to attack and eat the cub," the gray leopard explained. "Seeing as he's starving, I'll let him be, but he'd better NOT TRY THAT AGAIN!" the leopard ended in an angry shout, looking over at Koza. "Anyways, I'll let him have some leftover gazelle that I just killed. He'll be fine."

Tura listened to the leopard calmly. "Now that's something you donn't see everyday, a lion trying to eat another lion." She replied giggling slightly. She looked between all the cats anxiously as she thought, "Also, would you mind if I stayed with you guys? It's been so long since I've socialised with another lion besides Akua." She asked politely, feeling nervous about what to do if they said no. Silently she padded to Ma-akua and hissed in his ear, "If you attack any of these I will kill you, it's been ages since we've seen others like this."


Ma-akua snarled under his breath at Tura's warning, he didn't trust any of the teens. She's my mate and I'll do what I want with her He thought to himself. He then growled as he remembered Kiume, the on who had captured her heart. He growled to himself, he didn't care. He had the most beautiful lioness ever and he could do whatever he wanted. He realised suddenly that his fur had gone black and demonic and also that Tura was glaring at him. He shook himself and slowly he become his usual snow white colour. He composed his face into what he hoped was a warm smile. "No need to worry my love." He said in a whisper. At least not yet he thought glaring at the adolescents again.

Koza was almost out like a light. He looked at Tura and smiled at her, It had been a long time since he had heard someone giggle or laugh. Then he got up and announced with his full projection. "Look im sorry I tried to eat this little cub, but I dont know what came over me. Ive traveled for days and Im far away from where i once lived, So if its not too much trouble I would like to humbly ask for your forgivness and allow me to stay with you all." Koza lowered himself and waited for a response.

Koza's powers were weak and his glow was very dim. Koza padded up to Tura and asked her "Why didnt you yell at me like all the others did? Aren't you mad at me?" Koza eyes solemly looked at Tura.

Tura smiled back at the new lion, "I can't be mad at people that easily, you were hungry and didn't realise it was wrong, that's no reason for me to be mad at you." She replied. She smiled at the young male closely and was suprised by his good looks. She shook it to the back of her mind, I have a mate. She told herself sharply. Tura sighed then looked away from the lion's soft blue eyes. Again she turned back to Ma-akua, "Shall we go hunting?" She murmured.

Ma-akua growled slightly before turning back to Tura and nodding. "Any of you coming?" He snapped. He stopped when he got a threatening glare from Tura. He shrugged then prowled away with Tura beside him. "What is with you?" Tura snarled at her mate when they were alone. "The problem is that you can get around males so easily." He snarled
"No, thats not true!" Tura cried, hurt.
"Kiume." Ma-akua shot back.
"He went off with another female, it wasn't the same after that." She cried. Ma-akua unsheathed his claws.
"If that is true then you shall be mine and you won't be interested in any other male. Got it?" Ma-akua threatened. Tura lowered her head tears burning in her eyes. She was about to leave when Ma-akua raised a paw and struck Tura on the cheek. Tura whimpered in pain then turned and darted away from Ma-akua. "Tura?" He cried, realising what had happened. "Tura!" He called again.

Xanthos listened to what went on around him, now completely bored what with all the talking and emotional drama or whatever--some new lions were introduced, something about the starved lion, blah blah--

His ears perked up immediately, however, when someone said "hunting".

"Hunt? Are we hunting?" Before he was answered, the moody white-to-black male stalked off with his female, Tura or whatever. He followed them a bit, but not so closely that he could tell what they were talking about or doing. The female suddenly darted past him, tears in her eyes. Xanthos came upon Ma-akua a moment later, calling his mate's name.

Great, more drama, the gray leopard thought grumpily.

"Hey," Xanthos called, completely unaware of the emotional distress around him. "Are we hunting or not? I want to go as well," he said. "Didn't you want others to come with you?"

Back with the rest of the lions, Makena was already full from eating and had almost forgotten about the Angel like lion that was white from paws up.

"OH! Yea! Almost forgot! I know this sounds really really crazy, but have any of you seen or know of a lion that white from paws up and has wings?" Makena asked feeling just a little bit weird out herself by what she's asking.

She was now a little bit concerned. Is this white lion after someone? Doesn't seem like an accident! She thought to herself and sighed.

I was having a pleasant walk on this normal day! Why did I asked for something fresh and different? Look where it has taken me.......but I can't say I regret it! She thought a second time and was slightly more okay with the idea of some danger, even if it means danger that can nearly get you killed.

She chuckled at her ridiculous ideas.

"Hey," A voice behind him called, Ma-akua froze then turned to see the leopard come up behind him, "Hi." He replied. "Are we hunting or not? I want to go as well." He called. Ma-akua tried to hide a grimace before turning to the leopard again. "Sure you can come, just...." He sighed and looked after Tura. "You better be good though." He growled. Silently he padded off. Ma-akua took a few steps forward, "You coming?" He called trying his best to sound enthusiastic. He took a few steps forward and a alluring scent caught his attention. He peered through some trees and saw a large herd of antelope. Near to him was a large male and his female. The female, Ma-akua noticed was pregnant and very far gone as well. He curled his lips and bared his teeth, stealthily and silently he crept to the female, he would deal with her then the male. That would be more than enough. Agilely he raced forward and pounced on the female bringing her to the ground. He tore at her and looked behind him for any sign of the leopard to help him.

Tura hid in the bushes and watched as the leopard came up to Ma-akua. Swiftly she padded out of the trees. "Don't go Xanthos." She murmured. "If you fail with him he lashes out a bit, I should know." She flexed her shoulder to show three claw marks run down her flank. Silently she glanced after her hostile mate. She glanced at Xanthos again before turning limping to the small group of animals. "Hi." SHe murmured as she joined them, she winced slightly at the pain as she sat down. "Do you mind...." She didn't get chance because something attracted her attention, "Oh! Yea! Almost forgot! I know this sounds really really crazy, but have any of you seen or know of a lion that's white from paws up ad has wings?" One female asked. Tura frowned at the odd explanation.
"I'm afraid not." Tura said softly.

Xanthos raised his eyebrows when Tura came up to him and showed her the claw marks on her flank from her mate.

"Well, looks like he's got a bit of a temper. He's not going to get away with anything like that from me. I've got anger issues myself..." he looked the female up and down. "You shouldn't let him either. You're a lioness--act like one."

Xanthos then trotted away, not really caring about the drama or other lions' issues. He wanted to hunt, and that was all.

Ma-akua looked as if he had the pregnant gazelle down. Good idea, more meat for the group. Xanthos nodded at Ma-akua approvingly before bringing down another female in mid-leap with a well aimed fireball. Now the gazelle was dead and the meat was cooked as Xanthos preferred.

"Think we've got enough?" He called to the other male.

Kondo had been filled with fear and hatred when he had been pinned. Currently he sat, huddled against a rock in fear. He could stil feel where the lions claws had pierced him. Everything was happening fast. There was drama left right and center. Kondo almost sighed, they didn't need this. They had to get going and find those objects already! His mum's once chance to live again depended on this.

He began pacing, looking like a caged animal. Kondo was getting worried, so far he'd been in danger twice. They had to get away from here and soon! There was too much going on, it was crowded and every animal made him more and more jumpy

"Act like a lioness" The leopard said. Tura pulled back, what was that supposed to mean? She thought to herself. Shrugging she turned and padded through the bushes until she reached the group again. Tura sighed and sat down, "I hope he's right." She murmured hanging her head. Silently she waited for the return of her mate and the leopard. "I hate Ma-akua." Tura grumbled. She hung her head warm tears burning in her eyes.

"Do you think this will be enough?" The leopard asked. Ma-akua turned and glanced at the dead female Xanthos had brought down. Ma-akua sniffed as it let off an unusual smell. Ma-akua flexed his shoulders in a shrug. "Should be." He replied, swiftly he picked the pregnant female up in his jaws and began dragging it back to the group. As he ran he become a slight blur. The wind whipped around him and whistled in his eyes. Ma-akua began to slow as he heard the low murmur of the group. He froze when he was behind Tura, he was gonna playfully pounce on her when he heard Tura grumble the words, "I hate Ma-akua." Ma-akua let out a low growl before trotting to the others. "I'll deal with you later." He snapped at Tura. He padded to the main group and dropped the meat in the middle. "Xanthos is coming back with another bit of meat." Ma-akua said loudly. He turned to glare at Tura before stepping back to allow the others to feed.

"I'll deal with you later." Tura trembled but stood strong, Xanthos, according to Ma-akua was right it was time she started acting like a lioness. She glared at Ma-akua as he glared back. Tura then turned her snout up and him and padded back to the sleeping lion that she had been talking to earlier. Silently she sat on her haunches beside him watching Ma-akua's fur become a demonic red then back to white.

Koza ran up to Tura. his face was puzzled and worried for her. "Are you ok Tura? is there any way i can help you?" Koza swished his tail back and forth. some how Tura was different then all the other lioness's at his fathers pride. Maybe thats what his father felt when he met his mother? He felt like he was gliding on clouds and nothing could put an end to it.

Koza looked at Tura, he knew he was blushing a little as he smiled at her. He loved the sparkle he saw in her eyes, but he wished that his fur was alot neater...It was muddy,scrappy; he hadn't been bathed in days. "Im sorry for the way i look right now...i dont always look this way." he smiled at her.

Tura looked up when she heard Koza approach. “Are you ok Tura? Is there anyway I can help you?” He asked.
“I don’t think there is, I’m okay just a bit annoyed with Akua.” She replied, growling on Akua. Before she said anymore she shook slightly and a low rumble of thunder echoed around. She froze and relaxed her paws shaking herself slightly. As she did the thunder slowly faded. She looked back at Koza sheepishly and saw he was blushing under his blonde fur. She smiled at nudged where he was blushing softly. “What’s with the blushing?” She asked softly. She pulled back to look at him, his fur was feral obviously he had not been groomed recently. “I’m sorry for the way i look right now...i don’t always look this way.” He explained. She giggled slightly. “It’s okay, I’ll like it.” She said a small smile on her lips. “But maybe you should clean yourself. I know of some water nearby if you would like me to take you.” She said politely. She got to her feet and padded towards the bushes. “It’s through this grass.” She said pointing her nose toward the little river she had been at earlier. She sat down waiting patiently to see if Koza was going to listen to her or not.

Ma-akua snarled under his breath as the scruffy adolescent Koza went to his mate. He crouched down ready to pounce if he laid a paw on her but pulled back when some thunder rumbled nearby. Ma-akua glanced at the sky. “Don’t worry guys. It was just Tura.” He sneered slightly, Ma-akua was then startled to see Tura appear to nuzzle the adolescent on his cheek. With his teeth bared he made to move but was stopped by his hunger. He went to the back so he was able to see Tura and Koza whilst he ate. He tore a large amount of meat off the pregnant female as Tura giggled at the cub. Ma-akua continuously chewed as he watched Tura get up and walk away from Koza. “Good. She must know I was watching.” He growled through his chewing. When he finished he sat down watching Tura through his sharp forest green eyes. His fur seemed to burn and he glanced at his at his paws to see they were a fiery red colour. Obviously magnifying his anger. As Tura settled herself in the grass he called, “What do you think you’re doing Princess Tura?” He called.

Tura’s head snapped up as Ma-akua called her princess. “I am not a princess anymore I left that pride to become a lone lioness so don’t you EVER call me princess again!” She snarled at Ma-akua. Still snarling she turned back to Koza, “Are you coming?” She asked her voice strained with stress.

Koza blushed even more when she noticed and nudged his cheek. He smiled back, until he heard Ma-auka then he began to pad backwards until he heard Tura say "Are you coming?" Her voice sounded mad but he figured he might as well go with her. He began padding to Tura and then he took a quick glance at Ma-auka then back at Tura. "Ya im coming"

While Koza and Tura were padding through the grass, he felt a gust of wind pushing back his fur. "Umm Tura? Why was Ma-Auka acting like that?" Koza kept walking; he didnt notice that the water was right infront of him until he tripped and fell into the water. Koza blushed a bit again and said "I found the water" Koza laughed.

Xanthos dragged the cooked gazelle back to the rest of the lions. Having eaten recently, he only ate a few mouthfuls before leaving it for the others to pick at. He noticed that Tura seemed to stand a bit straighter when Ma-akua barked at her again. Good, maybe she'd listened to what he said to her about being strong like a real lioness. No lioness can be all fluff and flowers and survive.

The scruffy, muddy lion Koza hung around Tura and they went off to get Koza cleaned up. Xanthos circled around once and flopped down, watching as Ma-akua's fur changed colors as he was angered.

Perhaps he should say something to the ill tempered male...the gray leopard had his own anger issues, but this lion was inflamed way too often.

Xanthos got up and padded over to the lion, unsure of what to say. The leopard was really the typical guy; not much to talk about usually.

"Uh. Hey." The leopard suddenly felt stupid. What was he supposed to say? "So. Uhh... what kind of powers to you have? I can use fire. Really hot fire. Plus I'm in shape, I guess. The others seem to have powers too..."

The gray male suddenly knew why females laughed at the males when they tried to talk to each other. Xanthos felt like a goofball, trying to make small talk with another male.

Ma-akua looked up as Xanthos approached him. Uh. Hey." The leopard said to Ma-akua. Ma-akua continued to watch the lion silently. "So. Uhh...whats kind of powers do you have? I can use fire. Really hot fire. Plus I'm in shape, I guess. The others seem to have powers too..." Ma-akua rolled his eyes when Xanthos wasn't looking. "My fire can change colour depending on my mood. I am also faster then you can ever imagine. And I can never age." Ma-akua finished with a smug look. "My mate has powers to, she can control all elements." He crowed. The adolescent looked at all the others and suddenly realised Tura hadn't returned. Still with the scuffy teen. He thought. "Excuse me." Ma-akua said getting to his paws. Silently he prowled through the gathering animals and straight through the foliage. He poked his head through the trees and watched as his mate showed off her moves. "Tura." He growled, prowling out of the bushes. He prowled over to the two adolescents, bearing his teeth at Koza as he passed him. "I want a word with you." He threatened.

Tura looked at Koza, she was impressed by his looks as the wind blew his fur back, "Um Tura why was Ma-akua acting like that?" He asked her. Tura sighed
"Ignore him, he needs anger management." She said with a shake of her sleek head. "He's also jeleous that I'm with you." She continued. She looked down at the ground then was startled by a large splash, Tura's head snapped up and she began giggling at the stunned look on Koza's face. "I found the water." He said laughing, Tura continued to giggle, "I...can...see....that." Tura said breathlessly. She stepped back slightly and with great agility she ran and dived in the water landing a little way away from Koza. Tura continued to giggle as she swam back to Koza swiftly. There was a slight rustle in the trees and Tura looked up to see Ma-akua approaching."Tura." She heard him say. Tura cowered behind Koza slightly then remembered what Xanthos had said. Acting braver then she felt she stood her full size, "Yes Akua?" She asked with forced politeness. "I want a word with you." He snapped. Tura growled under her breath. One sharp snarl as Ma-akua glared at Koza. "Tough." She spat. She turned and walked straight up to Ma-akua. "You can't control who I am friends with." She snarled. Swiftly she turned away from Ma-akua and padded back to Koza's side.

Koza laughed as they swam in the water...he hadnt had this much fun in a long time ever since he was back at his pride.He remembered the day so clearly and they his thoughts were disturbed when Ma-auka cam out of the foilage growling. Koza looked at Tura and then looked straight back to Ma-auka, he was baring his teeth at Koza so Koza growled lowly for few seconds. then he heard Tura say "Tough...You can't control who I am friends with" then he noticed Tura padding back to him. Koza was speachless and just began to pad away from Ma-auka with Tura at his side. He had never met someone with such a horrible temper.

"Hmph." The lion had trotted away from Xanthos as he was talking to him. How rude.

"Whatever, he's more of a jerk than I am..." Xanthos muttered. "And that's saying something."

The gray leopard saw the interactions between Ma-akua and Tura and their bickering, with Koza trying to avoid the demonic lion. Xanthos felt a bit proud of the female when she stuck up for herself. Good for her.

"Well, anyways, guys, shouldn't we head back to the cub and his babysitter? Isn't that what we told them we'd do?" The gray leopard said as he approached them. He met eyes with Tura for a moment and he quickly looked down as if she hurt his eyes.

What was that all about? Whatever. He really didn't care.

Tura glanced behind her at her mate. "Sorry about that Koza." She mumbled. Silently she swam into the deeper water her mind completely jumbled. Ma-akua would no doubt attack Koza if I stay with him. He is so possesive! Tura thought. She shrugged. If Ma-akua attacked Koza I would attack Ma-akua and Ma-akua knows I'm the more powerful. She sat and watched Ma-akua silently.

Koza swam out to Tura, he was struggling a bit with swimming though; every 4 seconds his head would be submerged into the water, but he got his head right out,then 4 seconds later it happened again... "Tura, why are you with Ma-Auka if he never lets you do anything? you should be able to do whatever you want." Koza blushed slightly and then shook it off and turned it into a little grin.

"Tura, why are you with Ma-akua if he never lets you do anything? You should be able to do whatever you want." He said with a small grin. Tura sighed. "He scares me to much. If I say one thing wrong he could lash out." She explained with another sigh. She swam around once before jumping agilely out of the water and landing with ease. She waited for a couple of minutes to see if Koza was going to join her before padding through the bushes and rejoining the others.

Ma-akua continued to growl as he prowled through the folliage and rejoined Xanthos. Easing his growling he sat down, "Sorry about that." He grumbled.
"I had to deal with my delightful mate." He hissed menacingly. As his fur became a mixture of black and red Ma-akua began to wish he could age so he could become an adult and teacher Tura a lesson. His lips curled upwards as the thought began to appeal to him. Maybe I will teach her a couple of things He thought his grin widening more

((OOC: Ok so mainly my fault for not being on but this has almost become the "Tura and Kyto" thread. ))

Kondo dug his little claws into the ground. He was quite some way away from the others and it was him, Lorn and some other people wandering around. "Hey GUYS!" He called out in the loudest voice he could manage, hoping to gather them all together. These lions had powers too and he wanted to know more about them not be split up. "Please can you all stop splitting up? Doesn't anybody understand 'sit and chat' anymore?" He yelled out, not being very loud as he was a cub.

He wanted to leopard back, he was cool and all of the others were good company. Lorn would never let him show off his ghost power but Kondo would show off some other way. The little cub was always telling about his powers, when it came to magical abilities, Kondo just couldn't keep a secret.

Koza padded towards Tura and said "Well if he scares you so much then you should find a way to scare him" As he and tura padded through the brush and the foilage. Then suddenly he heard a cub yelling he lookes through all the foilage, and saw the cub he had attacked (Kondo). "Umm you go on...Im just gonna look for a place to sleep tonight alright Tura?" Koza licked Tura on the back of her head, and brushed his head up against her's as he turned away.

Koza began to pad back through the foilage, thinking to himself "How can that cub ever forgive me...I nearly killed him" He found a cave. "This could work" He announced. He walked slowly into the cave as his fur began to glow green, in the darkness. He curled himself up in the very back of the cave and fell asleep, with the sound of bats at his silent listening ears.

Ma-akua trotted back to the foliage and watched Koza and HIS mate. He began to snarl as Koza licked Tura and even louder when she didn't complain. Snarling hostily he raced out of the foliage and after the retreating Koza. He sniffed the ground when he Koza dissapeared. It led to a small cave with a faint green glow in. He brought his paws thundering down and snarled at Koza. "If you ever touch my mate again I will tear you limb from limb." He warned. Silently he made to leave

Tura watched after Koza for a bit and was startled as a large lion raced past her. "Akua!" She called out. As Tura made to follow she heard someone shouting. Curiously she padded around to see what it was. She padded over to Koza and settled on her haunches, "What's the matter?" Tura asked in concern. "Um, Koza has wandered off for reasons unknown." Tura explained she then turned her glare to behind her where Ma-akua had ran, thinking it to be his fault why. "So Kondo." Tura said in an attempt to make conversation. "You have any powers like Akua and I?" She asked curiously.

Koza layed in the cold damp cave until he heard Tura's mate calling out to him. Koza grinned a bit as he yelled at him. He thought to himself "Back in my pride a lion that doest treasure his mate or treat her equally would be shunned" Koza's fur glowed bright and brighter as Auka left. Then the bats began to screach and squeal. "I better go find leave this cave, the bats are becoming restless...ill go find Tura" He padded out of the cave and he noticed it was night. "Well it looks like everyone will know about my power now"

Koza ran to Tura and smiled "Hey, how are you" Koza rubbed his fur against her's forgetting that his fur was glowing.
