Text based mini game
a "choose your own adventure!" game
So far I'm still working out the different paths that the player will be able to take, I've struggled a bit on making the paths truly be different from each other but feel that I'm now starting to work that out. I'm constructing it in a flowchart system with the free web program draw. io to make it easier to keep track of everything before I get it into the game engine Unity.
This is how it looks right now, red boxes are Game Over states, green means the player won (there will be more than this one) and the yellow is a neutral end (the player didn't die but it didn't succeed in its' quest).
There'll be quite a lot of scenes with all these different paths that the player can take, and I would really love for them all to be illustrated but that would simply take too long. But I am planning on picking out the environments where most scenes are present and at least illustrate a few of them, along with having pictures for the different end scenes, I'm planning on having them done a bit hastily though so don't expect too grand art xD
To show what a "choose your own adventure!" game might look like, here are a few images (not mine!). A note here though, that text based games don't always have illustrations but as the name suggests: are in its' core text based instead, but it's always been quite common that they also do portray some of the narration with images.

(WIP)
This story is actually featuring This Lands character Sheek as its' protagonist! You'll be leading him through the world in a quest to find his place in the world, his forever home. But beware for these lands are filled with dangerous obstacles and not everyone you meet is friendly! Update 19/June -2021
An update on the flowchart that showcase the different plot chains, it's very close to be completely tied down now but there's a couple chains that still need tweaking (those that don't have a yellow, red or green end is undone). Also I don't like how the chain on the furthest right doesn't actually have any options that will change the outcome, so that will have to be redone, it's length too should be shortened I think.

I've felt a bit stuck with this plot a few times and I feel that I've been a bit lazy with getting this done so it's exciting now to soon be able to lock the script and go ahead with programming this instead!
Update 10/July -2021
The flowchart containing the different plot chains for the miniGame is now practically done! No ending is exactly the same which I'm very happy about and I'm excited to start working on this in the game engine Unity, and start making some art for it! There are a total of 4 characters that Sheek can find and form a group with, and one of the plot chains take a comedic Monty Python twist which I hope you'll find as funny as I do haha.
