As she was turning from Judas, she felt something warm and soft hugging her leg, looking down she saw Kesho and obviously he had heard her angry words to the lion. Sighing slightly she hadn't wanted that, she didn't want any of her feelings clouding the princes judgement, she wanted kesho to trust and accept Judas.
“It wasn’t a test Ayesha.” Lifting her head she looked him in the eyes, staring to see if he was sincere with his words, as he carried on quietly. "“I was looking for another way to cross, a shallow or calmer waters. I found none, I am, sorry if I worried you.”
Ayesha wasn't sure what to do, so instead of replying straight away she leant down and picked up kesho and placed him on her back, and then finally looked back up at Judas. Her eyes widened in surprise when he moved closer and she felt his muzzle touch her skin, her mouth dropping slightly open.
"There's a few things you need to know about me Judas.. I don't care whether you have three legs or four, you are the one I want to be with. which means if you are of the same mind, you need to include me in your plans, not just do your own thing and vanish when something comes into your mind.. we are a team..or thats how I would like to think of us, we are there for each other, no matter what."
Hearing a noise behind her, Ayesha's ears flickered and she moved so she could see who was eavesdropping and found Usiku standing there with some sort of smirk on her face, Raising an eyebrow at her and frowning, she then turned back to more important matters.
" Oh and another thing, I wasn't planning on sending you over the river by yourself, I would have been there by your side all the way.. and yes.. I trusted you to take one of the cubs with you and I know they would have been safe...because we would have been a team, therefore it would have worked, so you can cut out this ...this..alone thing.. you aren't anymore."
Ayesha took a breath having said all that she needed to at that stage, when the giggling from behind caught up with her. "I think we need to get moving, it seems we are holding things up by the sound...but.." Moving a few more steps, she bought up a paw and touched his cheek, holding it there for a moment before bringing it back down." "But..if you ever do that again, you will find you will be missing a few of those wiry hairs off your muzzle by the time I'm finished with you."
Giving him a wink, she turned and called Ayele over to her, and then faced Umoja, waiting to see what was to happen next.

Ayele was playing 'lets jump on the small flowers' growing near by, amusing himself while there was talking going on, this was far more interesting than boring old talk, you got old and all you did was talk... Ayele never wanted to grow any older than he was. Then there was a called from his sister, he looked up and saw her looking at him and he went bouncing over to her, feeling happy with himself.

"They were wondering what lion tastes like. Aparrently, a lot like wet antellope."
Katakasha's gaze snapped at Usiku. She didn't quite believe what the panther had said, not that she could check if it was true or not since Usiku seemed to be so far the only one who knew not only the odd language the panthers spoke but also the language their little group of lions used.
The black lioness lifted an eyebrow when Usiku's attention was drawn to something else, and as she followed where the panther was gazing, she soon enough found out the reason. The love birds of the group... Kata rolled her eyes in annoyance, was there no way of getting away from them...?
When Ayesha finally seemed to have done talking, Katakasha glared at Usiku once again. "If you're done eavesdropping", she begun with her usual cold tone, turning then to the female liard as well as to Judas, "and if you two are done being a pair of lovesick puppies, can we please move on?!"

"If you two are done being a pair of lovesick puppies, can we please move on?!"
Ayesha looked from Katakasha's glare to Usiku's smiling eyes as they stood together, it seemed they were both as dark as each other and she wasn't meaning just their skin colourings.
" well we are all ready.. have been for a while, we were waiting for Umoja, and seeing everyone is intact, we'd better get a move on." As Ayesha got level with the black lioness, she glanced at her again, it seemed she was never destined to smile or attempt anything that could be misconstrued as such, she was still standing there looking like she had swallowed something that had left a bad taste inher mouth. " tsk..tsk..Katakasha..jealousy really doesn't become you, and before you beg me..No I wont share Judas with you as much as we are loving friends."
Letting a laugh escape through her muzzle, she finally moved past her, with Kesho on her back and her brother happily skipping along beside her, moving up to where Umoja was waiting.

Usiku smirked, and sidled up against Katakasha. "Don't do anything rash now," she said, then turned to face all the travellers. "If you'll please follow me, then, we'll be on our way. I think we've passed the worst of it, but there's no telling with the river this high. I hope you all like being wet though." With a sneeky smile, Usiku turned around and walked into the water.
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
Umoja watched as Usiku walked off, and his eyes widened. "Usiku... you're heading straight for the waterfall," he said, as if she weren't aware, but Usiku turned around and grinned at him.
"It's this way that my master lives. We'll be much closer than what we are now, soon. You're not afraid of heights, are you?" With that she winked, and turned around.
Umoja gritted his teeth. "Not the heights, but the falling that worries me most," he growled. And now we have a torrent of water pulling us in the wrong direction, too. "Judas," he said, "If you need any help, ask. I don't want you drowning without telling anyone first. With that he got in line behind Usiku, following her out of the cluster of black cats, towards the thundering clouds of spray writhing and twisting not a five minute's walk away. It was much, much easier to look over his shoulder as he walked, and his eyes met Ayesha's. "Ayesha, do you want some help with the cubs?"

ayele followed along after his sister but she started saying things to the other cat he was watching with puzzlement and if there was visible indications, there would of been question marks above his head as he had no idea what was going on.

Everyone turned as they watched which direction the black panther was going to take them., Ayesha's eyes widened as she saw her pace back into the water and move towards where the mighty waterfall was flowing free, the thundering noise as water hit water.
She found she couldn't take her eyes off what was ahead of them, it truly looked magnificent, and she found her paws weren't moving, she just stood there with the cubs and Judas beside her spellbound. Her ears twitched when she realised someone was talking to her,and she finally dragged her eyes away and turned to Umoja.
"Ayesha, do you want some help with the cubs?"
Looking down at Ayele still beside her, it seemed she had to make a decision. The prince was settled firmly on her back and she wasn't really feeling like letting him go, after having him away from her and out of sight, relying on katakasha for his safety, she still didn't trust that one enough to let her have another go with him.
Turning to Judas, she raised her eyebrows. "will you take my brother ?"

The crippled warrior stood there, beside Ayesha and the cubs, not yet moving as Ayesha hadn’t. He was silent but simply nodded to Umoja and his words a slight smirk pricking at the corner of his lips. He didn’t reply until Ayesha spoke up, asking him to take her brother, “Sure.” He uttered lifting Ayele up by the scruff placing the little one on his head as he waded out into the water. Following the other’s with determined yet careful strides.

(EVERYONE WATCH THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO: . The "pool" Usiku mentions at the end of my post is the pool you see people swimming in in the video, at about 53 seconds onwards. Now imagine the same river during a flood. Hopefully, it will give you a better appreciation for what peril our weary travellers are in;) ) Umoja continued following the black cat over islands of lush, dripping trees, then shallow, swiftly-flowing water, and all the time the spray from the falls became thicker and thicker until it was almost a deluge unto itself. He paused once to look about, tossing his head to flick the drops off his whiskers, and noticed the rest of the group plodding along behind him, silent with the serenity of it all. The closer they got, the larger the cloud of spray became, until it rose and blotted out all traces of the horizon beyond the craggy gash in the earth. Umoja looked out into the grey mist and saw nothing. The end of the world, he thought. He wouldn't be surprised if it was. Then sooner than he had expected, they were there. There was a shallow dip in the riverbed, over which the water raced is if it were madly keen on its own demise. Just beyond, not twenty paces ahead, came a rumbling that shook Umoja's very bones. Swirls of white mist rose out of the rocky crevasse like fire, and at the very sight of it, water tugging against his legs, tugging him forward, Umoja's steady pace finally faltered. He stood still, staring into oblivion. Somehow Usiku noticed his lack of progress, and turned, curiosity in her yellow eyes. Over the boom of the waterfall she asked, "What's wrong?" Umoja swallowed, trying to remain composed, despite knowing that, if he slipped here, the current would take him and sweep him into a terrifying death. He licked his lips despite them dripping with water like the rest of him, and asked, "Where to now?" "There's a cave in this pool," Usiku said, walking a little forwards until she was paddling, making Umoja's heart jump. The water swirling about her legs disappeared in less than a second over the precipice. Her black pelt stood stark against the white mist beyond the falls. How could there be a pool there, so close to the cliff edge?? "If we swim down to the cave entrance at the bottom, it will lead upwards, then to a path that leads to my master's cave behind the waterfall. Don't worry though - I'll go first," she said playfully, and winked at him before diving below the surface. Umoja waited, willing his legs to move, but finding they wouldn't. So much water rushed by him with each second, so much it was almost deafening, even to his old ears. He dared not turn around, to look at the faces of his comrades, but he dare not step forward either. He tried, but his legs simply wouldn't move. Then he tried to move back, and they wouldn't go that way either. "Uh-oh," he managed quietly, realising he was stuck, immobilised by panic.

Ayele had stood by as his sister had decided what was to be done with him, and then there it was... he was to be transported by Judas while she transported the prince. He did't object to this as he was picked up by Judas and placed on his back. He knew Ayesha would't deliberately put him in danger so it meant she trusted Judas a lot so he was safe.

Ayesha with the prince on her back followed slowly behind Umoja, placing her paws very carefully with each move she made. Every now and then she would turn to look to her right , to make sure Judas was keeping pace with her, as she had slowed herself down enough for the lion to match her own strides.
Looking past him and Ayele, she was glad the other black panthers were still surrounding them, she didn't care any more that they might have been there so they all couldn't turn tail with Kesho and run back to where they had come from, all she knew they were still with them, and if any mishaps happened while in this swirling water, they would be saved.
Moving her glance away, her eyes stopped on her brother, he was being so brave, she could see how hard his body was clenched and his paws sunk into Judas body, he was as safe as he could be for now. Feeling someone watching her, Ayesha raised her eyes and caught the look of one of the panthers. Nodding her head slightly she looked at Judas and then raising her eyebrows and giving a nod of her head, she let it be known that she wanted them watched carefully. At this stage she didn't care if it looked like she was giving orders, they were there to watch over them and take them to this leader that supposidly had a cure for Kesho, and bringing water ravaged dead feline bodies to him, wasn't part of their task.
Satisfied if Judas slipped, himself and Ayele would be looked after, she turned her attention back to Umoja. For some reason he had stopped and wasn't moving in any direction even though Usiku had now plunged under the water and out of sight, he was like a stone, a stone that could still be plucked up by the current and tossed over that edge into no where. Even though the noise that surrounded them was deafening, she called out to him hoping that hearing her voice would somehow trigger something inside of him. "Umoja.. I'm here.. just wait and dig in your claws..I'm coming"
Pushing her self away from Judas, she signalled to a few black panthers to get in closer to him taking her place, and she paddled harder to reach this lion who might hold a key to her past. Panting slightly from her sprint, Ayesha tilted her head slightly and let her words carry to the cub on her back. "Kesho keep digging in as hard as you can, don't worry about me, just don't let go whatever happens."
Again she looked to her other side and beakoned to a lone panther to move up and get the other side of Umoja. Nudging his flank with her muzzle Ayesha finally came along side the royal advisor, and bought her face close to his so he could hear above the roar. "Umoja I'm here with you, you're not alone.. come.. we will do this together, there's someone else on your other side if you slip.. but I'm not going anywhere without you, we've come this far, and we all need you, so.. the question is shall we on the count of three ?"

"You got to be kidding me..." Katakasha muttered quietly as she watched how Usiku dived into the pool of water. She didn't really have anything against diving there and such but... Come on, she had just swam in that cursed river and tried to save the prince, only to realize Keshomaliki was saved by those panthers. What she got from the whole thing was being soaked all over as well as Ayesha's growing untrust and the panthers' laughter.
For a moment she wondered why she even bothered following this group any more. They clearly didn't need her. But as Ayesha's words meant for Umoja carried to her ears over the raging waters, she remembered her reasoning.
"Umoja I'm here with you, you're not alone.. come.. we will do this together, there's someone else on your other side if you slip.. but I'm not going anywhere without you, we've come this far, and we all need you, so.. the question is shall we on the count of three ?"
The black lioness smirked at the liard. She remembered she was here only because of her curiosity... and to annoy Ayesha. "Why not right away?!" Then she tensed her muscles and pounced high up on air, diving into the pool of water and immediately disappearing out of sight.

"and we all need you, so.. the question is shall we on the count of three ?"
Great. Now he was holding everyone up. To his surprise he found himself flanked by Ayesha AND one of the panthers... with Kesho on Ayesha's back watching his every move. This wasn't how leaders behaved. It certainly wasn't a good example to set for the prince, whose wide eyes missed nothing. Umoja straightened up and took a deep breath, preparing himself to jup in, when Katakasha said, "Why not right away?!" and leapt into the pool, her body sailing out against in front of him, far too close to the edge of the cliff.
"By the gods and fathers!" Umoja said. He crouched in fear, hoping to find better footing, but the current swept against his lower body and nudged him forward. His body twisted around in the current of the water, spinning him so he was clinging to the riverbank looking backwards, into Ayesha's eyes. What he saw there was genuine compassion, not the manipulative seductress he had percieved earlier. Perhaps she had changed... or perhaps he had been wrong about her. Either way, he was glad to have her here now, and that gave him strength, strength enough to proceed. Not that he needed it, for the black panther beside Ayesha, an impatient look on his face, reached down and wrenched Umoja's paws from the bank, and he slid backwards into the swirling pool on the edge of the waterfall...
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
The world was a much noisier - but also more peaceful place - underwater. Usiku heard two splashes behind her, faint against the waterfall's rumbling, and smiled to herself - they were following. Then she found it, a narrow passage at the bottom of the pool, a gap between the bedrock and a large boulder that had fallen on top of it. She squeezed into the gap, blocking out the light with her own body as she did so, and dragged herself up and into the cave. It was really more of a meercat's tunnel, except it was bigger, made through stone and full of water. Allowing the air in her lungs to escape ever so slowly, Usiku pulled herself up the narrow tunnel, towards the dim light ahead...
When she emerged, the sound was deafening. The tunnel ended over a narrow ledge which sloped downwards and to the left, curving around the black cliff right behind the huge, roaring curtain of water. She was under the lip of the waterfall now, barely a foot of ledge leading gradually downwards to her master's lair. Swirling spray drenched everything to a glossy black, and prevented her from seeing very far ahead, where she knew the pathway wound in and out of the features of the cliffside. "I'm coming, Master," she whispered ecstatically, and crept forwards, using her sharp claws to cling to the slippery, slimy stone.

"By the gods and fathers!" she heard Umoja utter harshly. Ayesha swung her head and looked in the same direction that he was staring, just as she saw the tail end of katakasha dive through the water and disapear, leaving them all opened mouthed not sure what to say.
" what's that stupid, show off, lack of brains lioness trying to prove, I've a good mind to slap some sense into her next time she appears and ..." Stopping quickly as she felt Kesho move her on back, she clamped her lips together so no more words his ears could hear. Looking back at Umoja, she saw him clinging to the bank, with a look of fright pasted on his face. Keeping her eyes on his, Ayesha just gave him a small nod of her head and tried to smile for him, encouraging him on. "Dear god, please keep him safe, don't let it be his time'
Watching as a panther tricked Umoja and pushed him under the water she felt her self start to move forward to go to him but pulled herself up short. "Judas, you ready, we need to go..now ?"

Ayele nervously eyed the water as they crossed the water, him on Judas's back, he was just like a little fluff of fur. This great swooshing, swirling mass of a water like a snake going off to the distance, he did't know if they'd make it over

Ayesha stood there, the nails of her paws gripping the ground, with water swirling and pulling at her legs while she stood waiting for Judas to answer her. She might have the prince on her back, but scraggly lion had the one she loved, her brother, on his, and she wasn't going to move forward without him. Looking away from where she saw Umoja go under the water, she turned and raised her voice so it could be heard over the powerful noise of the waterfall.
"JUDAS... WE HAVE TO GO...NOW !"
Still she waited for a reponse, and found her Ire starting to build, could she have been wrong about his strength and integrity.
"Damn it Judas, you're not chickening out on me, we've come this far, now SNAP OUT OF IT, or I'll take both Ele and Kesho on my back and if anything happens to either one of them I swear I will come and hunt you down and finish you off.... NOW MOVE IT"

Judas had completely phased out, although Ayesha’s yells brought him back to reality, “I am not chickening out...” he spoke walking towards the dark pelted female. “I am just not sure how long these cubs can hold their breath. I have no clue how long this tunnel is, much less were to swim.” He paused, gazing at the black abyss before him. Before his gaze quickly returned to Ayesha, “You may take Ayele of you believe to be the stronger swimmer of the both of us.” He said stepping up next to the female, a deep breath escaping his throat, “But I have tarried long enough.” And with those words Judas dived in, “Hold your breath!” he called the cub on his back as he crashed into the water’s disappearing into the deep abyss.

Umoja ducked into the tunnel behind Usiku, struggling to pull his huge frame through the hole. Curses... first dreadful heights and now claustrophobic, underwater tunnels. Still he struggled to pull himself forwards, but then his stocky body rammed against the narrowing tunnel on either side. "Fathers help me," he gurgled, the words escaping as nothing more than meaningless bubbles. He kicked his legs, his foot contacting with what felt like another lion's nose, wriggled his body, twisting, clawing at the rock, but he wasn't moving.
He was stuck.

Ayele held his breath as the water plunged around him, it was almost enough to knock the breathed from him, vicious and tugging, he held on for dear life. If this water took him he'd probably be in trouble, all he could do was hope his 'ride' would make it.

Ayesha watched as Judas plunged below the water with her brother clinging wildly to his back. Not wasting any time, she needed to keep them both within her sights, tilting her head slightly she yelled out to Kesho.
"Hold on tight, dig your claws in as hard as you can Kesho and don't let go no matter what happens, I promise I'll do as best as I can."
With her eyes wide open, Ayesha pushed forward and followed the swirling waters where she had last seen the lion and .Ayele disapear too. Dear God, please protect all those I care about, we've come this far. Switching off her thoughts, she concentrated as hard as she had ever done before. As her paws dragged her forward, the current pulled at her body pulling her back, still she moved on with the sole purpose of survival.
Into the tunnel, she was close behind Judas. He still had Ele on his back thank goodness and she could nearly touch him if she so wished as they were now side by side. Looking away from him she nearly swallowed water in surprise, Umoja appeared to be stuck blocking the way for any of them to get to safety.
It was too late to go back, they could only hold their breath for so long, what she was thinking now, was the only option left for them. Nudging Judas with her shoulder to get his attention, she gestured with her head that they should keep going and just barge into Umoja as hard as they could, hoping it might dislodge him somehow, as it was basically the only option left to them.

Keshomaliki had washed up on the bank of the pool of water, not knowing where his friends were, only knowing that he was alone, and without a friend. Earlier he had tried calling for them, until his voice went hoarse. He tried calling until the black, bloody bile spilled from his lips, until his stomach gave him too much pain to call anymore, and he rested his head on the stones. Why have they abandoned me? He thought to himself. Perhaps Ayesha had finally left because of all the trouble he had caused her, and had taken Ayele somewhere safe. But what about Judas? Did Judas blame him for his lost foot? Had he left too? And what about Katakasha? Perhaps she had never cared. Perhaps, he had stopped being an amusement to her. It hardly mattered anymore, really. Slowly, the roar of the waterfall became a distant rumble, and Kesho closed his eyes - his vision was going black about the edges anyway. Soon he would be in a place with no more pain, no more fear, no more loneliness. His little mind tried to resist, but his body marched towards it incessantly, with each drop of his blood, inching ever closer and closer. Until, at last, little Keshomaliki was at peace.

((I've been waiting for the other people to post something but they never showed up. Anyhow I'll put up a final post here just to bring an exit to my character.))
He was coughing his lungs out, trying to replace the water in them with the stale air of this dark, cold and if not pretty creepy cavern. His chest heaving for much needed oxygen as he sat slumped over a dull gaze on the black floor, ears pinned to his skull a frown of pain etched onto his face. He had used to last of his strength and willpower to push past Umoja who had blocked the entrance; not that Judas had any problem with big people but at the moment they weren’t among his favorites. His whole body shook he couldn't sense the others around him if they were present, this whole order-real had been harder than he had anticipated indeed if he knew the struggle would end like this he wouldn’t have signed up in the first place. He had lost the use of one of his back legs thanks to this botched rescue mission, and for what? Nothing! He was trapped in this stinking cave without the strength to swim back from where he had come, and there was no food here so if he stayed he’d likely be dead by the next turning of the moon. The warrior was broken, although he had not intentions of sitting around and wait for death to come and take him; no he had heard a familiar voice call through these halls.
He pushed himself to his feet a groan of discomfort rising from his throat, before he hobbled towards where he had last heard the sound. Though the sight the met him should very well had been expected; Kesho, the cub all lifeless, swallowing the male gently prodded the youngster with a paw to check for any response. Even if the child was as dead as he seemed Judas couldn’t get himself to grieve as it served no purpose, decides he was too tired to do much to and fro. Although as he settled himself down by the shelter of a rock Judas couldn’t help but wonder; what had been so important about Kesho in the first place? The cub had been an heir to a kingdom that was doomed from the beginning, not very much unlike Judas him-self. He laid his head onto his paws eyes closing... he deserved a good, long sleep after this; even if he had failed. Death could wait for just a little longer.

This probably isn't the place to post about it but perhaps we should take a vote: do we leave the RP here or continue? I really did just make that post to pull a few heart strings:) Maybe nobody cares about poor little Keshomaliki (maybe I should practice writing loveable cubs a bit better;)).
We are, literally, a short crawl and slither away from the end of this RP. I feel responsible for getting us stuck - I made a puzzle in Umoja getting stuck in the tunnel, hoping someone would realise what to do (or at least ask me if they couldn't think of anything), but nobody did:) Anyway, how do you make a lion skinnier if he's too wide to fit through a tunnel? Make him breathe out;) Give him a nip on the foot or something and make him gasp. Pop! Hey presto!
So: who wants to continue this RP? I know I do:) Comeoon, little Keshomaliki might make a great king! Or at least, a noble and caring lion. Anyone willing to walk behind the curtain, and meet Usiku's master, in order to save his little life?

(carry on is my view, the posts de-synced somewhat... so though umo stuck, judas pushed past.. kesho jumped from being carried by ayesha to somehow in front of everyone, mines no longer with judas.. shrugs, will carry on from last one) Ayele had be getting carried by Judas as the rough water splashed about, Judas managed to get past the stuck Umoja but it doing so Ayele was thrown from Judas and hit the rock side. Sliding into the water with a plop unnoticed and was quickly dragged down by a undercurrent swirling around and around before finally coming out of the tunnel into the cave inlet and floating to the surface. Just bobbing up and down, Ayele was still breathing slightly but seemed to of lost conciousness and would certainly die if his body sank back down.
