Name: Sorondi
Species: Lion
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Family: Distant relative of Uru; they share the same great-uncle.
Appearance: He is a big lion at the prime of his life. In his youth Sorondi was quite a lanky character, but in adulthood he has grown into the length of his legs and stands tall above a lot of other lions.
Sorondi sports a long, black mane and a dark brown coat. His eyes are of an orange red colour and his gaze is sharp and alert. He has few markings; only his muzzle, belly and eyes are different colours from his main pelt.

Personality: He's quite the optimist; always trying to see the best in a situation and cheer up others, but he also knows when to be serious and recognise the severity of a situation. He loves being a helper and tries to be of assistance when he can. Strategic thinking is his strong point and he never rushes into a situation he hasn't thought through.
A real gentlelion, he would probably have been a Medieval-times knight if he was human.
History: In his home pride, the Mkomazi kingdom, he served as a royal advisor to his father, king Mtenga. As a son of the king, he was entitled to choose whether he wished to remain in his homeland or be sent away to establish his own pride, as many of the princes still did, and Sorondi chose to stay. Other males would be chased off once their mane was grown, as their traditions required.
As king Mtenga's family had close ties with the royals in the Pride Lands, when word arrived about Uru's gathering of forces to defeat a growing band of rogues, Sorondi and a couple of lionesses were sent as Mkomazi's response to this call. The king believed that Sorondi's wisdom and diplomatic abilities would be helpful to the new queen. And if it turned out that she was indeed not capable of ruling her kingdom, as some rumours would have it, a son of Mtenga would be a worthy, and likely, candidate to assume the throne... Sorondi knew nothing of this secret plan, of course, and set out to find the Pride Lands and meet a distant relative he knew nothing of. He looked forward to it.
