"I don't have to take this." Santiago said as he turned and began walking away, he had just made up his mind. He was leaving this group and would continue wandering on his own.
"If you have so much authority and can take care of everything yourselves without other's ideas, then you can obviously continue on without me." Santiago called over his shoulder as he walked away. Nothing anybody could say would make him change his mind now. Santiago's notable two qualities are his attitude and his stubbornness...and the group of lions and lionesses were getting a healthy dose of both right now.

Tefnut laughed at Santiago's words. "You truly are an idiot", she told him, her voice slightly mocking. "We have authority, we can take care of ourselves, and we have come this far already on our own.. without you and your ridiculous ideas of splitting up." For a moment, though, there was a slightly sad shine in her eyes. "I truly wish that you wouldn't be so blind, Santiago..."
She sighed, looking over her shoulder at Misteeca, Dunston and Liam. She smiled at Misteeca, turning then at Santiago again, but without the smile on her face. "True, we could always use an extra pair of eyes and ears", she admitted. "But we have no use for someone who refuses to accept that he has no authority over this group and its actions. Remember this, Santiago, it was us who found you lying at the jungle, half dead it seemed... Had we not come, you would not be here, turning your back to the little safety you have in this haunted jungle... And trying to put the blame on us, trying to make us feel guilty of your own actions caused by simple stupidity."
The liopardess turned her back on Santiago and walked over to a flat stone that was somewhat in the middle of the clearing. She pounced on it, settling herself down and laying her head on her paws. Her green eyes were focused on Santiago, and her other senses were alert for possible danger. "Think twice, Santiago, before you turn your back on us. If you step away from this clearing now, you are not welcome back."

Liam was getting pretty angry at Santiago, which was surprising for a cub like him. This anger seemed to be almost like a hatred."____.. _____ ____" he muttered, which he intended to say 'fool...you're dead...'. He had felt that same feeling he had before he lost his voice. A darker entity near, or within himself.
His attention was, however, re-directed to what looked like a paw sticking out of a bush. Another survivor hiding? Whoever was hiding was not very good at it. Liam cautiously approached the paw, picking up a stick to prod it to check for danger. He prodded it a couple of times without a response. He then moved part of the bush away and saw, what looked like, a slain lion.
The sight made him feel like he was about to vomit. The dead lion was eaten, slightly decaying, and only the face could give any hints as to who it was. Liam did not have time as he returned to Misty and was as if he was trying to tell her what he saw, but to no known avail.

He was lost and alone, all koji had done was stop for a moment to catch his breath and then he had to pull a thistle from his paw, and then when he looked up again they had left him. He didn't know which way to go, all he knew was that he didn't like being by himself, too many strange things happened.
Behind him came a grunting noise that made him jump no, no, no , taking to his paws he started running straight ahead and kept going, slipping on the ground ,head first he crashed into and through some bushes, coming to a stop he opened one eye slowly. All he could see were some brown paws close to his face, Koji lay there trembling waiting for the first blow to come down on his body.

Misteeca stood there, not knowing what to do first, Liam and Dunston needed the poultice applied, Koji was a quivering mess lying onthe ground at her paws, Tefnut and Santiago nearly came to blows, and were now eyeing each other up wearily.
Letting a sigh slip through her muzzle, she turned to check on Dunston and the cub. Liam was already up and walking near some bushes, prodding with a stick by the looks. Turning her gaze away she saw Santiago was about to walk away "WAIT.... we need to have a talk before you leave, please stop ."
Bending down quickly, she placed a paw on the side of the Lions face and softly spoke. "Koji, its me Misty, you are safe, nothing bad is going to happen to you, you are with us now, so please get up." Starting to loose her patience she unintentionally snapped at him. " KOJI, for goodness sake stop behaving like a baby and GET UP OFF THE GROUND...NOW"
Stepping back Misty looked over at Tef, raising her eyebrows and giving a shrug, she moved away, letting Tefnut know what she was about to do next she nodded her head in the direction of where the red maned lion stood, with a temperamental look on his face.
Keeping eye contact Misty slowly walked towards him, she wasn't sure quite how to handle him yet, she could go two ways.
As she was along side him, Misty didn't say anything just walked around him, making sure he could see that she was looking him over.At the back, she looked up at Tefnut and gave her a small grin, and kept moving till she was facing him yet again.
Letting a look of appreciation cover her face taking away the smirk that was there only seconds before, Misty looked him in the eye. "so you would like to leave our little group, before you have had time to get to know Tefnut and myself, thats a shame and here I was hoping we could become friends." Letting a small smile appear, Misty leaned in closer. "You know I thought a lion like yourself, would enjoy travelling with two females, who showed leadership and great fighting skills, give you a chance to prove how good you are as well, if not better, and not be scared off by them....I guess I misjudged you" Lowering her head a little appearing coy, Misty let her head briefly touch the side of his and stepped back. "If you must go.... well travel safe Santiago, we would hate for anything to happen to you, I doubt Tef and myself will be around a second time to care for you".
Turning away she passed her friend still on the flat stone, giving her a small wink she moved back to Liam and Dunston.

It had been a while Keplar had been on his own looking for the group. He was near to losing hope. The jungle didnt seem to end, there was no other living creature here and the night appeared longer than usual. Tears formed in his eyes as he was confused, not knowing where to go and with no one to turn to. At this point he just wanted to close his eyes, lay down and just await whatever fate was in store for him. Yet there was something inside him that encouraged him to move on. He didnt know what it was, but he was just glad it was there. Eventually as he moved on Kep discovered a trail of blood. Regardless of his fear he followed the trail until it reached its source. It was the corpse of a giant scorpion! Kep was about to flee when he realized the thing was dead. He came closer to examine it. Small reptilian looking creatures were feasting on the corpse scavenging whatever meat they could however when Keplar approached they fled the scene. The scorpion had claw and teeth marks everywhere, especially on its head and eyes. Its black blood was splattered all over the ground mixed with patches of someone else's blood. Ordinary blood. Looking around Kep saw broken branches and torn bushes. There was definitely a fight here. Nearby he discovered another scorpion corpse with the same claw and teeth marks except this one also had a rock lodged in its eye. He only hoped Misty and the others were alright. Kep made his way through the messy scene, trying his best to avoid stepping on the gooey puddles of black blood.

Santiago gave Misty a dirty look as she snapped at Koji. He felt bad for the poor cub, he wasn't even an adolescent yet and he had every right to be scared.
"I wasn't trying to undermine your authority or give myself any, the sooner you get the fact that I'm only trying to recommend ideas to help through your thick skull, the better!" Santiago shouted, he was out of patience and full of attitude.

Tefnut watched with amusement as Misteeca circled around Santiago before she returned to Liam and Dunston. The lion seemed to just ignore the lioness, though, or so it seemed to Tef.
"I wasn't trying to undermine your authority or give myself any, the sooner you get the fact that I'm only trying to recommend ideas to help through your thick skull, the better!"
The liopardess growled, her green eyes flashing to steel grey. With a movement so fast that a cheetah could be jealous of it, she was standing in front of Santiago once again. And then she slapped him across his face with the back of her paw. It wasn't hard enough to draw blood, but it was hard enough to hurt. "Ideas that aren't welcome, you idiot!" she snarled at him. "So far you have presented us with only one idea... An idea that everyone else except you finds ridiculous. You are the one with thick skull here, Santiago." Her eyes narrowed dangerously. "I tried to be nice with you, but obviously you are too stupid to realize this." She extented her pure white claws once again. "What will you do, Santiago? Walk away as you so much threatened to do just a moment ago? Or will you keep this ridiculous behaviour up? Or will you finally accept your place at the bottom of this group, in which position you have no right to accuse us being 'thick skulled'?"
The liopardess growled, glaring up at the male lion in front of her as she waited for his reply. And depending on what he would let out of his mouth next, she would either retreat to the stone where she had laid a moment ago... Or retreat there after beating up some sense into this lion she didn't like so much anymore.

As Misty walked away, she couldn't but help shake her head. I wonder if he realises he is going to be in for a nasty shock, sooner than later I expect
Reaching Liam, she could see he had a look of panic of his face "whats wrong "..Misty quickly looked around the area and couldn't see anything out of place, "tell me ". Realising what she had just said, she bought a paw up and stroked the top of his head."sorry Liam that was silly of me, how about I just go and look at what you saw in the bushes!"
As she turned, she glanced back at him and gave him a small smile then walked towards where she had seen Liam standing. About to pass Koji, who was still lying where she had left him, guilt again spread through her at the harsh treatment she had given him. why did I speak to him like that, none of us know what he has been though or what he has seen.
Dropping down so she was nearly on the ground, Misty put her paws around him as best as she could, and gave him a warm hug. "Koji, come, up you get, let me take you over to Liam and Dunston, they can be your new friends as well."
Feeling him stop shaking and start to respond to her words, she moved back to allow him room. Misty was up on her paws and turned to Dunston smiling, "Could you look after Koji for a little, I know I can trust you ". Giving Koji a little push with her paw towards where he stood, Misty moved cautiously over to the bushes, looking back once to see Liam nodding his head at her. Pushing part of the shrub aside, she leaned in only to be met with an overpowering stench of a rotting carcass. Holding her breath she had to lean in further to see if she recognised who it belonged to. Letting out a loud gasp, Misty backed out as quick as she could and kept moving till the small branches snapped back into place hiding everything from view.
Looking over at Tefnut with a resigned look on her muzzle "It's another lion left over from the hunting party, I remember him as being one of the best hunters from the tribe....now he's dead like the others"

Santiago let out a low growl as Tefnut's paw met his face, but he just shrugged off the pain as he looked at her. While the blow wasn't hard enough to cut the lion, it was hard enough to reopen an old wound on his muzzle that hadn't quite finished healing.
"Okay, I get the fact that you don't like the idea, but do us all a favour and try not to act like a complete jerk about it! We probably wouldn't be fighting like this if ONE of you took the initiative to just say 'Hey Santiago, I'm not so sure that's a good idea', but no, instead you snapped at me like I had recommended that you chop off an arm! And the reason I called you 'thick skulled' is because if you truly were working to be a good leader, then you would have been a bit more pleasant about saying you don't like my idea." Santiago growled as blood began to run down his muzzle from the reopened cut. As much as he was starting to despise Tefnut there was a certain thing about her that he liked, though he couldn't quite put his paw on it. Maybe it was her tough personality, but he wasn't sure.

Tefnut barely heard Misteeca's words when Santiago replied to her. The liopardess growled, and it was a very dangerous growl. the only warning of what was to happen was the flash of her now steel grey eyes as she suddenly pounced at Santiago. She was strong for such a small creature, and yet again she was glad of the strong leopard blood flowing in her veins.
And so, she glared down at the now pinned male, her sharp fangs visible as she snarled. "Let me refresh your memory..." Her words flowed out of her mouth as a mix of speech and snarling, her tone venomous. "It was not I who first rejected your idea... I could perhaps been more... pleasant, if you so wish to call it, when turning down your suggestion... But that does not matter, for as long as even one member of my group does not like something, this group will not do it." Her eyes narrowed, and she pressed her claws a bit harder against Santiago's skin, but still not hard enough to make open cuts. "You are in a very vulnerable position, Santiago. You just crossed a line that you should not have even tried to push... I did not wish this to come this far, but since you are clearly questioning my ability as a leader..."
She suddenly got off of him, backed away a little and stood between Santiago and the others, facing the male she had pinned down a moment ago. Her pose was far from relaxed, though, for she was prepared for a battle. "Do you really wish to fight me so much, Santiago? I might be only a female, and a cross breed of lion and clouded leopard too, for that matter... But I am strong, I have fought full grown lions before. I was trained to fight full grown lions, partly to ensure my own survival." She lifted one eyebrow, her battle pose still remaining. "So how is it? Will you continue to keep up this thing about us not listening to your ideas? Or will you for once eat your stubborness willingly and properly become part of this group?"

Feeling the light brown coloured lioness give him a warm hug and tell him everything was ok, made him stop shaking, and Koji opened his eyes wider to look at everyone that was around him, to his surprise there were only four others.
The one called Misty, placed her paw on his back and bought him over to a cub and another lion, they both looked to have wounds from fighting that horrible scorpion.
Not knowing what to do he stared at the lion, hoping he would talk to him, as the cub was too busy watching what Misty was doing with some bushes. "Hello I'm Koji "

Misty stood there after telling Tefnut, another of the hunting party had been found dead. They had to make some decisions, and soon at that, was there any point in looking for what was left, if any of the hunting party. Giving a sigh Misty knew in her heart that it was now an impossible mission, and all there was left, was too try and find their way back out of the jungle, and keeping those that were now with them safe.
Turning away with sorrow on her face, she glanced over at Tefnut standing in battle pose, mmm looks like I missed out on another skirmish those two had, I'm surprised he's still standing.
Moving over to where the others were positioned behind Tefnut, she reached for a little poultice and slowly made her way past her friend till she was in front of the red maned lion. Reaching up with the poultice her sad eyes met his, " here let me Santiago, we can't have it getting infected " Misty gently dabbed some of the paste on his muzzle where she could see a gash ,that was letting the little flow of blood trickle down. About to move away she met his eyes again.
" You ignored what I had to say to you, quite pleasantly I thought I had spoken, and then your arrogance and impatience still surfaced and you had to try and assert your so called authority. I hope you realise now that Tefnut is not one to be bullied or taken lightly, and come to that myself either, I just choose to react differently to Tefnut, but our outcomes are always the same. We look after ourselves and those who travel with us, and it has been knowen that some poor feline hasn't woken inthe morning due to his throat and guts being spilled all over the ground late at night."
Pausing with her words, she let her gaze flitter over to the bushes on her right where she had made the unexpected discovery. Sighing, her eyes met Santiagos again. "If you would like to travel with us, you know the rules, and if you would like to go off on your own, I wish you a safe journey." Stepping back, Misty lowered her head as she could feel a tear wanting to flow free, and she wasn't about to give this lion the satisfaction of seeing it. "Good luck".
Moving away, with her head still bowed she spoke quietly so only Tefnut could hear. "I'll be back in a minute Tef, just need to do something." and Misty pushed through some bushes letting the tear finally roll down her cheek passing over the three blue dots under her left eye. Sitting down on her rump, she blinked, as all she could see was Isoko lying there half eaten with his eyes staring into space.

"Fine. You're the leader after all. I'll stick with you guys and keep my mouth shut, but in return I'd like a little respect and less attitude." Santiago said as he stood up and looked at Tefnut. His fur was now covered in dirt and his muzzle had blood on it from the recently reopened wound on his cheek.
Despite the bitter argument between him and Tefnut, Santiago didn't hold that much against the liopardess. She was trying to protect her group after all. And the fact that she was being so tough about it really caught his attention.

Tefnut glared at Santiago, but her battle pose had now relaxed and she had withdrawn her claws. So he was wise enough not fight. Good, but...! "Respect is not something to be given", she replied coldly. "One must earn it." She sighed and turned to find Misteeca. The lioness had said she'd be away for a while... But was it really safe for that?
Tef shook her head. Really, things were getting stressful. She trailed after her lioness friend, thinking hard what Misty had said earlier... Another dead lion, was it?
She found Misteeca as she stepped out from the clearing through some bushes. She could tell her friend was crying, and a sad expression came to her face. "Misty...?" The liopardess sat down next to her friend. "It was someone you knew, wasn't it...? The dead lion...?" She nuzzled Misteeca's shoulder. "We'll get through this... I promise you, we'll get through this all." She shivered, hoping she'd be able to keep that promise.

Misty looked up quickly to see who had followed her, relaxing her stance when she saw it wasTefnut.
"yes it was someone I once knew, his name was Isoko, he was such a fearless hunter, nothing could ever get past him, he always bought back the biggest kill and everyone looked upto him...he was also a friend of my father's I was told. "
Staring up at Tefnut with watery eyes, Misty blinked quickly "where did that get him, hes lying half eaten, his carcass rotting under some bushes." "We need to to get away from here Tef or we'll all end up like that...."
Trailing her words off Misty stood, giving herself a shake. Giving her friend a small smile " Now that I've stopped feeling sorry for myself, we'd better get back, for all we know Santiago has persuaded the others to go walk about with him."
Pushing herself back through the bushes, Misty looked around to see what the others were actually doing.

"Okay, fine, I'll work for the respect, but I would still appreciate it if you guys wouldn't give me an attitude." Santiago said in an attempt to compromise. Right now he still seemed to be in a stalemate with Tefnut, but at least it was a less volatile stalemate. He stood there as blood trickled from his muzzle and the wind blew his mane around. After a few minutes the lion took off to the water nearby and jumped in to clean himself off.
Once he had been swimming for a few minutes, Santiago got out of the water and shook himself off before smirking for no reason.

Standing there puzzled ,Misty looked over to where Liam,Dunston and Koji were but there was no sign of Santiago.
well looks like he's made his decision, a poor one, but..it was his to make
Turning her head behind to where Tefnut had come through the bushes after her, Misty gave a sigh "Looks like he couldn't take not being boss , thought he was made of sterner stuff, obviously he's a whimp after all."
Moving over to see how the other's wounds were coming along, Mistry wanted them all settled for the night They needed some food in their empty stomachs, and a good nights rest to energise them, for what tomorrow may bring,

Dunston watched the confrontation between Santiago and Tefnut and completely forgot about his wound and the poultuce he had made. It would be nice to have another older male in the group, but this newcomer seemed to want to take control and Dunston wasn't sure that would be best. Tefnut and Misty had done a good job so far.
He finally remembered about his poultuce and he tried to get some of it on his wound, but he was to sore in the back to reach his leg. I can't believe I'm this hurts so much, he thought. It must be from before I met these guys. He tried once more to reach for his wound but he couldn't bloke out the pain. He knew he would need someone elses help again, a fact that was beggining to aggravate him, but in before any of that he could try and help some one else.
"Liam?" He pulled himself a little closer to Liam before the pain kicked in again. "Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked, ready to use the poultuce.

Liam looked at Dunston and knew he should not lie. He nodded and gestured to the wound that he sustained from saving Koji's life. It felt deeper than it looked, yet it was a small price to pay. He then gestured to him as if asking 'do you need any?'

As Misty was walking over to them, she noticed Dunston limping and trying to apply the paste, but failing. Seeing the pain spread across his face, Misty felt sad, because she knew part of it was from when he had come back and helped her, risking his own life. And his fresh wounds were from also helping friends.
Coming up behind them, Misty gently put a paw on Dunston shoulder " sit down with Liam, and it's my turn to help you both now...come on sit."
Taking the paste, she moved first to the cub. Spreading some over her paw, she lowered herself down and was about to pat it on the open wound but paused looking at Liam "I'm truly sorry if this hurts you in any way, I'll be as gentle as I can, but you know your wound needs this so healing can start..ok".
Sucking in her breath, Misty dabbed the paste on and around the wound as quick as she could, not wanting to add pressure or linger on it, satisfied it was as good as she could get it, she pushed herself up and moved to Dunston.
"Your turn now, you have been so quiet about how much you are hurting, but I have been watching you and know you are in a great deal of pain, so I'm here to help you out." Taking the last of the poultice, Misty lay down alongside the lion, brushing against him by mistake, feeling him flinch. Chewing slightly on her lower lip concentrating, she moved slowly in circular motion over his leg. Knowing she had applied enough as the fur all around had changed to the colour of the paste as well.
"OK now, you two need to stay still and I'll get you some water, and maybe Tef and I can look for some food, its been a while since we ate, I know my tummy's been rumbling as I'm sure yours must have been as well."

"I can take not being boss and I'm not a wimp," Santiago began as he walked over to Misty and Tefnut. "What I can't take is being dirty and bloody." Santiago smirked as he looked at the two, his mane now flat and dripping water from his brief bath. Despite how others treat him, even if they're jerks to him, as long as he reaches an agreement with them, he doesn't hold a grudge.
Santiago looked around and paid particular attention to his surroundings, his green eyes scanning for any potential hiding places that hostile creatures might be utilizing.

Tefnut followed Misteeca back to others, knowing well that her friend was right. They had to get away, but they simply couldn't move tonight. They had been traveling for a long time without a good rest, Misteeca even longer than Tef herself. "We will move, Misty", she liopardess said quietly. "But not tonight... Not tonight..."
She sighed, watching as Misty moved to the others to check out their wounds, watching as Dunston treated his injuries before turning to help Liam, watched as Misteeca took over and begun treating the cub instead of letting Dunston do it. She heard Misteeca tell she and Tef would get something to eat...
And she sighed again, shakig her head desperately. How could they hunt in this jungle? She didn't dare to leave the group. It was as if this terrible place had planned this all along: scare them so much they won't dare to leave eachother, then make them starve to death when they can't go hunting.
Santiago appeared then, and Tef turned her gaze to him, only to find him smirking. She snorted, but managed to fight her urge to roll her eyes. Swiftly, she moved back to the larger stone in the middle of the clearing and climbed on it, lying down to have her rest. She took a deep breath as she laid her head on her paws, seeming to relax as she closed her eyes.
But her other senses kept alert, instincts forcing her to keep guarding even when she was resting. "While I agree we need to find something to eat", she said, sifting to a more comfortable position on the stone. "I don't wish to leave the injured. We can't hunt anything large here, perhaps babboons, other monkeys, smaller birds... There's no way to catch an antelope, zebra or gazelle in the jungle. Trust me, I know." Opening her eyes, she stared at the trees, her voice fading into a whisper as she seemed to fall into her thoughts. "I know..."

Misty pushed herself back up off the ground, feeling tiredness sweep through her body, she knew she couldn't lie down and have a rest just yet, or she wouldn't get back up again.
"I'll be back in a little minute, I'm just going to have a quick bathe and remove this hideous smell off my body, and when I'm done you both can have some fresh drinking water."
Turning in the direction from where she saw Santiago come from looking very wet, Misty moved past him not speaking or looking his way, and went towards where she could hear water lapping against a bank or maybe rocks.
Darkness was falling rapidly and the lioness wanted to wash herself and be back with the others while she could see her surroundings and anything awry.
PLacing one paw in the waterand about to bring the other down, Misty stopped and gazed at the image she could see looking back at her. Almost preening she stretched her neck up and to the side, then back again. Not sure she liked what she saw, she finally placed the other paw quickly into the water breaking the image. Lowering herself down slowly, she felt the water pass over her body, soothing her and shutting out all the noise for a brief time. Anyone watching would have seen her push back up quickly, water spraying all around falling slowly back down like broken glass from a mirror. Misty stood there perfectly still, her eyes the only things moving as she watched small stars start to meet up above.
Her attention broken, she reined in her thoughts, then retraced her pawprints back to drier ground. Looking around her for something to carry water back to the others. Startled by a noise behind her Misty looked back quickly towards the water, smiling at what she saw, I wonder if we could eat them , turning away she found some large husks she could use as a water vessel, selecting the largest, she used her teeth to grip it well, and filled with water. Moving away,Misty paused to look at the water once again, possibilities entering her head. then turning carefully so as not to spill any, she pushed ahead back to the others.
Stepping out, Misty padded over to Liam and Dunston and placed the water in front of them "I'll get some more if you need it, I'm going to talk to Koji."
Leaning her head down by his ear, she quietly asked of him "Koji could you come with me down to the stream, you aren't injured, and I know you would be a good help to me, I think I may have an answer to our hunger problems."

Liam had winced slightly at the pain of the poultuce being applied, but did not make any other reactions. He started to wonder why this jungle had been cursed. Everything had a cause. Liam looked at the water and drank some. He did not drink much, but he felt so relieved. The fresh water going down his throat had brought a chilly shock, but it did invigorate him.

Koji was surprised when the lioness came and asked him to help her out. Feeling his chest swell with pride, he puffed it out and gave a beaming smile. Standing up he followed close behind her, almost bumping into her rear, as she slowed down to call out to the others that she would be right back.
Not saying a word he just kept up with her, noticing the ground was getting damper, until right in front of him there was the stream. Leaning down he quenched his thirst straight away, feeling the coolnees flow down his throat, all of a sudden koji gave a little burp, grinning he looked up at Misty, seeing her grin back as well.
"So, what are we going to do ? you're not going to make me have a bath are you?" Koji stood there with a worried look on his face, about to break into a run.
Tilting his head, Koji was surprised by what Misty said to him next. "we are going fishing, what do you mean, thats silly "
Soon he found himself standing in the water, his paws still gripping the sandy bottom, with half of his body submerged he stood there as still as Misty was and waited. Watching as she gave the signal, when the surface broke he lunged forward his teeth biting into scales and hard flesh, trying not to spit it out of his mouth, he pushed himself back to land, dropping his 'catch' on the ground beside the others that were already lying there.
One at a time Misty and Koji carried them back to the others, making sure there was one in front of each of them. Getting his breath back, he stood there beside her feeling good that he had helped those who had helped him. Now...who was going to eat first he thought.

Santiago turned and looked over to Misty and Koji, he lied down and rested his head on his paws as he intently listened to the conversation. Fishing, huh? Sounds interesting. Santiago thought as he watched the two. He wanted to go over and see what Misty was planning on doing. He wanted to try and earn the respect of the group by helping Misty. He wanted to...but didn't. He didn't want a repeat of the argument earlier, so he just closed his eyes and fell asleep instead.

By the time the last fish had been bought up and placed on the ground for those who were hungry enough to eat, Misty felt the last of her strength slowly leaving her.
Exhaustion was moving though the lioness body, all she wanted to do now was curl up and sleep away the days images of fighting and the horror os seeing one of her fathers friends lying as a corpse under the bushes.
Looking down at the fish, Misty knew she should really eat something, but the thought of food in her state just made her stomach churn some more. Walking past Liam and Dunston she saw a grassy patch behind them that would suit her just nicely.
" Liam, how about you try and eat something, you and Dunston need to keep up your strength so your wounds will heal and not get infected as well. It's not bad really once you get into the flesh, and Koji here will keep you company as well."
Giving the adolescent lion and push with her paw, she left the three of them staring at each othe, alternating with sceptial glances at their dinner to be. Letting a smile graze her muzzle she carried on and slowly lowered herself to her mattress for the night. Tucking her paws under her and resting her damp head down, Misty felt her eyelids succumb to weariness and soon she fell into sleep not noticing anymore what was happening around her.

Tefnut listened as Misteeca lead Koji to fish. She smiled. Her lioness friend was smart. The liopardess would've gladly helped them with fishing, but she too needed her rest every now and then, and she was sure the two lions could easily catch the dinner.
She let her eyes close momentarily as a sigh escaped her muzzle. When she opened them again she saw Santiago lay down for some rest. Misteeca and Koji returned with fish for everyone to eat. She urged Liam, Koji and Dunston to eat, and went to lay down herself. Without eating.
Tefnut sighed and shook her head again. Misteeca was sure to be hungry when she would wake up. The liopardess made a mental note to save some food for her and Santiago as she slid down from her stone and streched her aching muscles before walking over to the food. "Nice catch, Koji", Tef commented with a smile as she picked up one of the fishes.
She ate the fish, careful of the fish bones it had. It was tasty, especially after not eating anything in a while. What she didn't eat though was the head. Oh no, there was no way she'd bite that part of the fish. When the other parts had been eaten, the liopardess tossed the head away, sitting up and licking her paws clean. She then turned to face Koji, Dunston and Liam, a faint smile on her lips. "Try to get some sleep", she said. "I'll keep watch. If I sense something that shouldn't be here I'll wake you all up." After saying this, she returned to her stone and laid down, listening at the sounds of the jungle while keeping a close eye on the trees.

~~~~ Posting for cubbyKovu ~~~
Koji moved towards Liam and Dunston. Feeling a slight chill, he suddenly stopped and shook himself trying to remove all the last drops of water clinging to his body, before he lay down with his new friends.
Staring down at the fish he had helped Misty catch, he didn't really know what to do with it. He had eaten berries and other things trying to keep alive, but a fish, this was new altogether.
Glancing at the other two beside him he saw they hadn't started eating, the red maned lion that everyone seemed to be angry at had fallen asleep.. then he saw Tefnut. Watching closely without appearing rude, Koji saw her rip pieces off with her teeth then chew slowly, and she looked like she was enjoying the taste.
Hearing his tummy give a small rumble Koji turned back to the fish now being held down with one paw well here goes nothing
Bringing his teeth closer, he tried not to grimace at the smell, and suddenly sank his teeth in through the hard scales until he felt soft flesh. Pulling back, he spat some skin out from the corner of his mouth and gently chewed on what was left in his mouth.
mmm.. its not that bad really carrying on Koji worked his way around the bones and left the head as well, as the eye staring at him was distasteful. With the fish now finished, he was feeling satisfied with himself. He had accomplished alot this day, usually he would have been too frightened to do anything accept hide, but amazing things had happened.
Yawning, he pushed himself away from his now forgotten meal and curled up behind Liam, giving one last look at those he now found himself with, his tongue licked his muzzle and his eyes fell shut, wondering what tomorrow would bring.
