As the sun rose over the dry, silent, and lonely valley, and as the vultures sang their forlorn songs to nobody, there emerged from a cave a little lion.
He was no big lion. In fact, for a young adult he was quite small. But he didn't care about his size. Right now, he just wanted to go out and smell the flowers.
The little lion padded along happily, smelling tiny little flowers as he went until he found the biggest flower he could. Thinking the flower was beautiful, he picked it up and put it in his mane.
And the little lion was happy.
So happy in fact that he just had to sing something.
"When the night..." he sang, waiting for the echo to respond, and smiling as it did.
"... has come, and the land is dark... and the moon is the only light we'll see. No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid, just as long as you stand by me."
Kutangaza was happy.

Kitako had been out to watch the sunrise. Not long after, the voice of Kutangaza floated through the air. He didn't even look back from atop the precipice he perched. He just sang out the harmony.
"... stand by me.
So darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me"

Kuta smiled, jumped up, and ran over to his brother. "Good morning, kit! You're up? Did you get good sleep? You really nailed that harmony!" He said, bouncing around with the energy of a cub and circling around Kitako. "Are we gonna go find a new pride to sing to today?"

Over the years, Kitako had learned to have patience with his little brother and when he rapid-fired questions, Kitako knew he only really needed to answer the last one and Kuta would be satisfied.
"We'll look for one, yes. But even if we don't, I'm sure the birds will appreciate being sung back to."
He tussled the tufts on the top of his younger brothers head.

"Oh, yeah, you're right!" He said, bouncing up and down again. "The birds are always the best audience! They love to sing along!" Kuta stopped just a moment to pick up a blue flower from the ground and put it in his mane next to his ear, trying to spruce it up a bit. Next, he picked up a pink flower and held it up to his ear.
"Hmm... What do you think, Kita? Pink or blue? I just can't decide!"
