As a professional drifter, entering new territory wasn’t anything new—Rakka had been through so many different places in his day that the landscapes and faces began to blur together. He would wander through and then leave. A rolling stone gathers no moss and all that. However this time was a bit different.
The last kingdom he had been through wasn’t open to visitors, apparently, and he had gotten into a scuffle which had left him with a limp. As far as he knew, he was still being followed. Hopefully crossing over into the next territory would get rid of them, but he couldn’t be sure. Every now and then he would raise his head up, perk his ears and sniff the air. He could still sense his pursuers.
He limped up a small, rocky hill, and sat for a moment, taking in his surroundings. There wasn’t a shortage of other prey, water, or vegetation that was for sure. It looked like it was a prosperous place. He had yet to run into any other lions, but was mentally preparing himself for when he did. Surely he would, this place looked like it was prime property.
Grumbling a bit to himself at the thought, he began his limp to the water off in the distance. He might not have been able to hunt, but he could at least get a drink, perhaps rest.

Alari couldn't believe the lion hadn't spotted her yet. Then again, she wasn't moving and she was downwind from his direction. The lioness blinked as she watched him approach. She was sprawled out across a wide log that had fallen over the water, making a bridge of sorts several feet above the surface. Her fur color sort of resembled the wood as the bark had been stripped off, leaving the sunbleached timber exposed. As the lion came nearer, his intent became obvious. Alari smirked and propped her head against a paw, her elbow braced against the log. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." She called out casually, still grinning.

Rakka nearly jumped as he heard the lioness speak, having been caught completely off guard. He had been so focused on the idea of having a drink that all else had been filtered out. Rakka righted himself quickly, not wanting to appear jumpy or surprised. It was honestly much too late for that, and his attempt to save face wasn’t too smooth. He flicked his ears back, looking towards Alari. She seemed to be easy going enough not to be a threat, and he frowned a bit at himself for having been so reactive. “Might I ask why not?” Rakka asked, seeming a bit skeptical. It looked fine to him in his bleary-eyed state. Was she a friendly face trying to save him some trouble or was she looking to start some?

With her free paw, Alari pressed a thin branch, bending it towards the water. As it made contact with the surface, it made the tiniest ripple. A fraction of a moment later, the branch was in the jaws of a crocodile. With a jerk of its body, the reptile tore the branch off and disappeared back under the water. Alari, unphased, stood up and walked along the log toward the banks of the water.
"There's probably a safer place to drink around here." She said as she stood up on the log.

Rakka stared dumbly as the great crocodile ripped the branch away, the thought that that would’ve been him flitting through his mind. He felt very stupid in that moment. “Point taken.” He said as the water began to settle. He then turned his attention to Alari. “Lead the way.” He said, the slightest hint of gratefulness in his rough voice, looking at her expectantly.

With a hop, skip, and a jump, Alari dismounted the log at the edge of the water.
“Lead the way.”
"Oh, I'm just as lost as you." She said, with a chuckle. "I'm not from around here. There's a local pride nearby but they're... grouchy. But they stay away from the crocs. Ironically, it's safer on that log than in their hunting grounds."

Wonderful. Rakka thought as Alari spoke. A croc infested watering hole and a grouchy pride was the last thing he needed. At least an aggressive pride might help prevent his pursuers from coming any closer. "I suppose we can find a place, then. Surely there's another watering hole around here somewhere." Rakka grumbled. He began to stagger off into the grass once again. "Hopefully there won't be any altercations." He added, looking over his shoulder at Alari before continuing on.

(OOC: Finally able to post. I've only had time to check on things lately. ) "Hey!Pssst. Don't go north." Alari clearly heard the warning. Not that warnings had ever stopped her. She paused and looked around, smirking, then nodded at Rakka. "Hey, let's go see what's up north." She said as if it were a random idea that had crossed her mind.

Rakka twitched his ears, thinking he had heard someone speak. He paused for a moment where he was, then shrugged his shoulders. Must be the wind. He reasoned. "I suppose it's as good as any other direction," he said to Alari with a small flick of his tail. "Perhaps there'll be food." He added with a small grumble. Still, there was a little voice that seemed to nag at him. He could've sworn... oh well. OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply! Lots of stuff happened that I'm having to deal with. :/

'hmmmm. maybe this will turn good.' The lioness hidden in the taller grass eyes the two lions, safely from their view. 'Such a frail thing that one...I wonder what happens if he gets too frail?' she ponders wickedly to herself as a big toothy smile breaks across her face. 'The other lion seems peculiar for some reason-I'll figure it out soon enough. First, I better make sure they get a nice warm welcome.I do believe getting stuck in a pit with no food is "in" this season.'
Ooc:if this sounds too evil let me know, I kinda based her using the book of vile darkness for d&d.

(OOC: Nope! Not too evil at all. This should be fun! ) Alari slowly spun around as she continued to step in a northern direction. She grinned, her eyes looking left and right for the source of the sound. Call her 'paranoid' but something didn't feel right about going towards a voice she couldn't see the source of. Instead, she tried to coax whoever it was out. "Yeah, food sounds good." Alari enunciated, loud enough for whoever was out there to hear. One step after another, she continued to walk backwards slowly. "Alright! North it is then. Let's g-" As she spun back around, she was interrupted by the sensation of falling and tumbling. One final thud knocked the wind out of her. Alari laid there for a moment. I am not a smart lioness. She thought to herself. "Thanks for the warning!" She called out sheepishly.

Hi all:). May I please join with Figgy? Let me know if I'm not RPing right or anything as I'm happy to change posts: "Finally!" Figgy said, heaving himself to his feet and wandering over to the newly captured lioness. "Are you ok? You look ok. Didn't you hear me calling? 'Hey, watch out, there's a pit here. Don't fall in. Be careful, listen to the crazy woman!'" Figgy looked up, his grass-tied goatee dangling from his chin, longing in his green eyes. "I suppose it's hard to hear above the wind through the grass, huh?" He sat down with a huff, rear legs spilling away to each side of an enormous furry stomach. "I'm Figgy, by the way. Inventor and explorer at your service." He bowed. Or rather, bobbed his head. "I hope you don't have any plans because this pit is impossible to escape from. Absolutely impossible." He sighed, looking up again with a sad longing.

You must escape the pit, she is watching all of you.The sound was a little louder than before.Probably getting nearer? There are birds circling the pit but none of the ghastly variety. Ooc:do we have powers cause I'm throwing my voice from a pretty fair distance?Unless the wind was generous that day.
