Wasen't sure what to title this xD I know there are a few of our members here that earn some money of their art (which is amazing!) and I've always been curious of how it works. When someone contacts you to do a commission, do you ask for payment before hand? Or do you recieve money once the job is done? And if it's the secound way you do it, how can you know for certain that the customer will pay? And how does the money get transferred, through paypall? Curious mrcrazypants is curious xD

How commissions are done depends on the artist :3 Some take payment in advance, some after the work is done. How I used to do it was to ask for payment once their commission sketch was done, but I've changed it to usually ask for the fee in advance now. I've had a couple of instances where the customer vanished after receiving their sketch and since I spend a considerable amount of time on concept and sketch I decided I wanted to be sure the work was worth it. PayPal is by far the best way to handle money as well. Some artists send invoices, some use "normal" transfers. If you want to know all about how I work with commissions you can read my commission info here: kanutgl.deviantart.com/journal/Commission-Info-237318786 :3
