On the Wings of the Storm

(anyone is welcome to join... i will rp two characters using two fonts: black for Abaddon and normal for Kei)

It was an overcast day on the savannah.  A hint of an incoming storm made all the herds group together for protection, the perfect chance for Abaddon and Kei to hunt.

As usual, Abaddon was lounging on the rock in front of a hidden cave, catching the day's last rays of sun, when he realized it was too quiet.  'Where's Kei? I told him to stay within my sight!' Bounding down from the high cavern he began to look for his brother.

After what seemed like a heart stopping eternity, he found his brother's tracks.  Like his paws, they were huge; however, the claws always remained out.  Finally, at a small deserted oasis, he found his brother.  "I told you specifically to stay within my sight, Kei! I would never forgive myself if I lost you!"

He nudged his younger, leaner brother towards the mountain cave.  "Let's go...home."

The two traveled back to the cavern and Kei fell asleep as Abaddon stood guard, ready for anybody or anything.

Abaddon sensed a storm approaching. Apparently, Kei did, too. "Come inside," the younger brother said as the first few drops fell. This made the bigger lion turn around quickly, startled. Abaddon thought Kei was still asleep. "Kei, you startled me! I will be in after a patrol."

Kei nodded, respecting his brother's wish with some hesitation.

Abaddon lumbered off on his patrol with Kei glaring daggers at him. 'One day, Abaddon, you won't be able to push me around any longer.' The white lion decided to make a foolish decision: he left the safety of the cave during the now heavy storm.

'I'll show him,' thought he as he ran joyfully through the rain, away from the cave and his brother, and to whatever adventures awaited him.

Nearby, a young albino lion cub walked. She had many things on her mind: things like how her sister always told her she was week and needed to toughen up. Or how her brother smacked her in the face and left a claw mark there the other day. She would look up, and with her limited vision she could barly see a black fuzzy spot in the sky. She shrugged it off. Not to long afterwards, she would hear to yipping of the zebras as they hudled together, and saw a black and white fuzzy spot, not to far from her, run by. She could easily identify this as a zebra, of course. She would follow it, and when she was close enough, she'd see a familiar face: the mother of her zebra friend. "Hello, mrs.Stripes! Whats this all about?" Now that she was close enough, she could now see the zebra mother clearly, and in great detail.

"Hi, Snow. A storm is coming. We have to stay together."

Snow mentally smacked her own forehead; 'i should've know that the black spot was a storm cloud..'
"Well, honestly, im a bit far from home. May i stay with you for a bit? "

"why of course, i'd suggest you get under me so you can stay dry. "

Snow did as told of her.

Not to long afterwards, she would see kai, a small fuzzy dot that she coukd somehow recognize as a lion, running through the now very heavy rain. She would yell through the rain for him to come over so, that he could get out the rain. "HEY! OVER HERE! "
The zebra would look towards kai and stomp her hoof to the ground with a yip "over here, little one. Get out of this rain."
They would both watch kai as he walked through the rain. Snow would tilt her head "huh. Are you sure hes not a zebra? He white. Like me."
Spripes, on the other paw, could see him clearly: a white lion cub. "yeah. Im sure hes a white lion."
Snow gasped "A lion like me! " she smiled widely.

Kei- who was having a change of heart- was walking through the grass when he heard a small voice. "Who's there?" He wandered through the brush until he came to a zebra with a small cub underneath it. 'Another white lion?' Lowering himself to the ground, Kei asked the small cub with a kind smile, "What is your name, little one? You shouldn't be out in this rain. Come with me; I was just returning to the cave my brother and I are living in." He waited for a response.

She looked up at kei, and smiled. She now saw him clearly as she said "My names Snow. " she pointed to the zebra she was under "and this is Mrs.Stripes. She my friends mom. " she smiled once more. " My mom always tells me not to go with lions i dont know, but if i know your name, then a guess i do know you, but i dont know your name, then i dont know you, so whats your name? " Typical Snow, she always goes into long explainations before she gets to the point.

"My name is Kei, Snow. Good afternoon, Mrs. Stripes." Chuckling at the cub's long explanation, he replied, "I guess we do know each other. My brother is called Abaddon."

Looking at the skies, Kei said to Mrs. Stripes, "My cave is up on that hill. I can offer Snow food and shelter. Please let one of her kind offer a helping paw. I will bring her back unless she wants to stay."

He waited, with his mane blowing in the wind, for a response.

" of course she can, but i swear, if you let her get hurt its gonna be yo' hind end. " Stripes replied as she gently nudged Snow out from under her.
Snow, now dripping wet, hoped to Kei's side. " bye, Mrs.Stripes! Say hi to rovo for me. "
The zebra nodded "Of course i will, sweetheart. Now stay safe, youngin."
Snow nodded "i will!" She grinned. Snow then looked up at Kei.

Kei felt honor when this little cub looked up at him. "Stay next to me and you won't get as wet. Don't worry, Mrs. Stripes; she is in safe paws with me and my brother. I will bring her back unharmed."

"Let's go, Snow. I have some food up in the cave stashed away for an occasion like this. " He started moving slowly so the cub could keep up. Kei looked back to see if the young lion was following him.

The small albino was indeed following him; in fact, she was right beside his front paw.
A few silent moments went by.. And the silence after but 45 seconds was irritating to snow. Silence was not really to much of an acception when she has first met someone.
"Well, technically, Mr.Kei, i can't not get as wet because im already soaked and its raining." She joked, followed by a childish chuckle. Snow was obviously a bit different from the average cub.

The small white lion waited patiently for a response to her little joke as she skipped by his side with a big bright smile on her face. She would jump up onto his back and lay down, head buried in his mane.

The lion chuckled at the joke. "That's the truth,Snow. Here,"he said lowering himself to the ground. "The cave is upon many rocks. Climb on."

For the first time, Kei had found a true friend.

As said before, snow had jumped onto his back and began playing with his mane. "So whats your brother like? " snow asked as she proceeded to nip at keis ear.
it was now that snow relized that she to had found an amazing friend, however, she was still a bit weary of it. In the past every time she thought this, the friend would bail on her.  So she wasnt going to hold her breath. Even her five siblings left her for the hyenas when they found out she wasnt related to them.

"Abaddon is bigger than me, but he cares for his family and friends tremendously." He paused and chuckled at a memory. "I remember when we were cubs that i wanted to go hunting by myself and got spooked by a hare thinking it was a monster. I went crying back to Abaddon and he comforted me." Kei paused to climb some rocks. "You will be in good company, Snow."

They reached the cave's entrance. Kei helped Snow climb off his back while he shouted into the cavern, "Abaddon, we have a guest!"

"Well, who is this young cub?" rumbled Abaddon kindly. He stepped into the light, revealing his massive form. He waited for a reaction from Snow.

Snow smiled at abbadon, "Im Snow!" Snow grinned widly at him, every single inch of each tooth was visable.

Abaddon chuckled at the little cub's enthusiasm. "Nice to meet you, Snow." The big lion flopped to the ground, causing dust to fly up in the air. Most creatures would run from him, a gargantuan of a lion, but not this cub. "Kei, do we still have antelope stored in the salty part of the cave? Our guest deserves the best.

Kei replied, "I believe we do. Let me go get some." As Kei left, Abaddon asked Snow, "Tell me a little bit about yourselt, Snow."

Snow would lay down gently on the ground not all to far from Abaddon's face. "Well... Theres not all to much to say about myself, really. I have slightly limited vision, if that makes a difference.. I have no friends, im an only cub to a black lioness, and im an albino, so i cant spend as many hours in the sun as other lions can.... So, have you eaten hippo before?" She asks in curiousity.

Abaddon replied, It doesn't matter what color your pelt is. My brother and I have different pelts but that doesn't matter. I have tried hippo before but couldn't get past the skin. Too tough." He sat up as he heard Kei returning with the antelope. Kei dropped the antelope.

"Go ahead, Snow, dig in! You must be hungry." With a satisfied grin, Kei waited for Snow to eat.

Snow took a big huncky bite "mm!"
Snow swallowed the bite "yeah, true. But really; the sun can actually make me really sick if im outside to long. Its a medical thing." She took another bite, then began sorta grazing on it.

Seeing that their guest was now eating, Kei then Abaddon began to eat. After eating, Abaddon went to the mouth of the cavern. "You two stay here. I must do a patrol before bed."

When he was gone, Kei settled on a rock and looked at the little cub, "Snow, would you like to hear a story?" Kei waited for Snow's response.

Snow looked up from her food, mouth and face absolutly doused in blood and meat chunks, as well as her paws. She licked lips and nodded, "mhm! Of course! I love stories! " she returned to her food, but still looking up at kei with her eyes, onw paw on her food to hold it still white she aboslutly tore into the meat. Pretty soon, her belly became bloated. She was a heavy eater, depleting a months worth of food in one week, usually, but somehow still managed to maintain a figure.

While his friend ate, Kei began his story. "Once, a long time ago," was how he began his story. He told the story of how lions and lionesses came to be, through the Great Lion Adwin. As he came to the conclusion, the part where the heavenly lions waged war, he asked Snow, "Are you getting tired yet, Snow, or do you want to finish the story?" He waited for albino cub to answer.

She was sleepy, and now only had dry bones left in front of her... And blooied and stained fur. "Go on.." She yawned, and rested her head down on a bone as she chewed on another.

Meanwhile, another young cub, Safari, sat in her small, cramped den. Safari was worried about her non-biological sister, snow. She missed her. She wished snow had never went back to jessica the panther. She stood up, walking over to the exit of her den. "i gotta go find her..." her voice was scratchy and rough, (think; gilda from mlp.) Safari furrowed her brows in determinepation as she stepped out into the rain. She seemed to walk sternly, and confidently, like an adult lion would. She was older than snow, thus making Safari a almost fully teenager. She was skinny and rough in her physic, much like vitani. She walked calmly through the rain, looking around for the off white lion. "SNOW! SNOW! " she would holler. But then, not to far off, she would see a rather large form walking around. A patroling adult male lion? She wanted to know. So she stretched her claws to ful extent as she carefully, at moderate speed, walked over to the lion. "hey, have you seen my sister?"
