The Pride Premier

           This is my idea for a new rp. Anyone up for joining?

                The Pride Premier:

             In the great jungles and grasslands of Africa, there lives a great pride of magical cats; the premier pride. The premier pride rules over a massive expanse of territory which spans the jungles, deserts, and grasslands of Africa. But the premier pride is built upon the backs of slaves, lions from smaller prides that the premier pride has taken control of by murdering their kings, queens, sons, and daughters. Even the birds of the air are enslaved to these god-like cats. Cats that can fly, turn invisible, glow in the dark, burn the very ground at a whim, summon the waters, their abilities are unfathomable. These cats are ruthless, proud, honorable, spoiled, and want for nothing. They believe they are meant to rule over ordinary cats and animals. They rule with a cruel and iron claw, sending their bloodthirsty generals out to govern enslaved prides. Those of the premier pride who can fly command the birds of the air, making them their spies. Enslaved lions serve the commanders, praetors, consuls, princes and princesses, of the pride premier and the great Emperor Exalted; a mysterious lion whom none can make eye contact with. Many rumors circulate about this lion, some say that those who look him in the eye die instantly, others say he is made of fire and darkness, while still others say he doesn't exist at all. The Emperor Exalted lives in a cave at the top of the jungle mountain Rukor, encircled by his chief advisors, commanders, generals, and consuls, in a land surrounded by lush plants and cool waterfalls.

            The slaves of the empire starve constantly as they are forced to hunt for those of the premier pride instead of themselves or serve as their troops in battle. Sometimes they are made to kill each other as the premier pride watches the sport. If any slave lion shows the slightest hint of developing powers they are immediately killed. Commands have been given in which entire litters of cubs have been slaughtered in slave prides. 

            But now the land is suffering from drought and slaves are disappearing. Rebellions have occurred and the pride premier is growing wary as some of their own catch the gleam of revolt in their slaves' eyes. The birds of the air fly a little slower, circle the slave prides a little longer, and some do not return from their missions. Lions of the pride premier's noble families have been murdered, put on display for the slaves to see, as the enslaved hunt desperately for the little food available to them. Prince Roque, son of the Emperor, and one of the heirs to the pride premier, has heard the cries of the slaves as they beg for freedom. Beg for the lives of their cubs. Beg for vengeance. He fears for the lives of his pride members, but seems to be the only one who can hear the cries of the starving slaves, and his father, the Emperor Exalted has not been seen in months. He knows that rebellion and insurgency are coming. But civil war could be on the horizon. Is he the only one who feels some compassion for the slaves? Has a resistance group developed? Will the pride premier survive?

               Rules (so far):
                    1.) Any big cat with powers can join the premier pride.
                         (Keep in mind that pride premier cats believe themselves superior beings/creatures and can be quite vicious even with each other. They are
                          meant to be leaders and warriors. They're not all bad! They can be kind masters. They're just supposed to be accustomed to power.
                         They have  been taught that not all lions are equal.)
                    2.) Animals developing powers can be in either the premier pride or a slave pride.
                    3.) You are welcome to have more than one character in the rp.

I'd love to add Na'hina to this.

Despite her having powers, I think adding her as a slave would be the best starting point.

She doesn't have the demeanor to be a part of the premiere pride, plus she's blind and not particularly powerful, at least not directly ^^' So maybe she was someone born into one of the premiere pride noble families but because of circumstances, was disowned and rendered a slave.

Oooh yay Leto! I think Na'hina would make a great addition! Especially as a slave. She could make a very complex character.

I'd like to join this using Kaimu and Kulaani.

They're wanderers, so they would arrive together and most likely help out the slaves when they learn what's going on.

*raises hand* I'd be more than interested in this! The setup is too good to pass. I'm not sure who I'd be using though, but I'd assume two characters, since that's how I usually roll. xP

Oh I'd love to do this! This would be a great chance to give my unused characters a little love. Hmm... I need a little time to develop powers for him, but I'd like to use Nafsi as one of the more cruel Pride Premier members, and as for one of the slaves on the verge of helping start the rebellion, I'd like to enter Haraka. Haraka may be distantly related to one of the pride members, but he never developed any powers... yet. If he does develop powers, he'll have them as listed here.

Kir- Sounds good! Just let me know who you'd like to use and I'll add them to the list. I'm still in the process of making my own characters for this hehe.

Zor- Wow both of those would be great! I put a link up for Haraka that included his potential powers just in case you decide to use them.

After some consideration, I think I'd like to play Mwezi and either Lumiar or Sekh.

Mwezi would fit well with the premier pride. She can be rather arrogant at times towards those she sees as her lesser. (Plus I really want to give her a go again. xP)

I'm not sure whether to play Lumiar or Sekh as the second character. I'd really want to try Sekh since I've never played her properly before and I really like her design, but she'd be more difficult to fit into anything. My guess is she'd possibly be part of the slave pride, until she came to have her abilities and her wings, and is now trying to hide from everyone. Lumiar, on the other hand, would need some alternate history that's very different from the one I generally use for her, but she'd be easier to start with and would fit with the slave pride as long as she keeps her skills hidden.

... After writing that I'm leaning towards Lumiar as the second character... Mostly because she's easier to start with in the slave pride.

All righty, so for Nafsi, he will have the power of Shadow.

Basically, he uses shadows cast by anything (himself, even) to make himself stronger. It can give him an edge in any one trait he desires at a time--speed, strength, agility, even an intensely louder roar or heightened vision. However... this only works to heighten the traits he already has (hearing, vision, touch, speed, etc.), and he may only direct the power to one trait at a time. The power can be switched to different traits swiftly, however, but if one can figure out his reaction time, they could take advantage of a trait he has not put his Shadow power into. Also, if he is in complete darkness, this power does not work--only if there is a shadow cast by something on the ground where there is also light placing it (in other words, there must be light for there to be a true 'shadow'. A completely darkened room would leave him vulnerable).

Kir- Mwezi sounds perfect. UPDATE ON LUMIAR: I'm an idiot. Of course she can join. I didn't see her wing hiding ability.   I'll add her right now.

Yeah, that's why Lumiar will be easier to play as a slave than Sekh. xP Plus it'll be interesting to see how long she can keep her skills hidden. I mean, she's mute, that's gonna be interesting when it comes to interacting with other characters.

I think Lumiar might have been a member of a neighbouring pride at one point before their pride was taken over. That would be logical and would fit with her previous history without me having to re-invent all too much of her past. :3

For everyone else involved: I'm planning on making some references for this rp like a map and some general customs/rules for the slave and premier prides so it might be a few days or so before the rp gets started. I hope you guys don't mind the wait. If you have any ideas regarding anything I just mentioned don't hesitate to mention it here or pm me. Also I plan on adding a lot of NPCs to both prides since the premier prides's empire is supposed to be huge. If you guys want to add any NPCs you can pm me or post them here too.

And if anyone else wants to join they are more than welcome!

Got room for another player? I'd like to join with Akinai in the premier pride if possible. Her history for this RP would be slightly tweaked in the form that her home was never attacked, so would be quite a bit more spoiled/naive.

If you need someone for the slave pride, just let me know. Have an idea in the works...

Sure thing Akinai! I don't mind having more people join since both prides are supposed to be rather big. Akinai looks like she will fit right in. Also another character for the slave pride would be awesome.

More people are welcome to join if they want but I'll probably close sign ups in a day or two. 

Side Note: If anyone wants to add NPCs just shoot me a pm. I'll probably add about 20 to each side.

I like coming up with random characters, so no worries there. I'll PM them to you as soon as I have made some. I'll probably do it similarly to how I made NPCs for Surra, if that's ok with you? That'd be name, species, age and a short description of possible powers and how they look like.

That's fine. If you're going to make some for the premier pride though could you give some of them a rank? Some could be generals, commanders, guards, or even jurists and magistrates. Of course there will just be some regular members (noble families etc) too. And cubs etc. You're seriously awesome lol.
