Okay everyone. In recent days, it's come to my attention that I probably need one of these up just to clarify some things for those playing in this roleplay. So far, there hasn't been a huge problem or anything, but I should, as the RP creator, probably make some rules clear. This RP is for moderate to advanced players, meaning your replies should be well thought-out, non-bunnied, god-modded, or metagame'd, and longer than just a few simple sentences. Your characters, as well, should try to steer clear of "Mary Sue" ish-ness, though powerful characters ARE allowed. This just means have developed characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths--and they need to be fully fleshed out and not 'flat'.
Rules for The War for Surra RP
1. Follow the rules of TLKGO. This means no bunnying, god-modding, or metagaming. Respect others and ask for permission before harming other players. This goes ESPECIALLY for character deaths (unless they are NPCs, in which case only do this SPARINGLY).
2. Your posts should be more than a few sentences. Ideally, posts should be a three to four five-sentence paragraphs, but at least two is fine.
3. Your posts need to be grammatically correct, and please make use of the TLKGO auto-spellcheck feature within the post creators. If your word has red squigglies beneath it, it is misspelled. Also, use capitalization and punctuation correctly. If you have questions about how good your grammar or spelling are in a post, ASK SOMEONE TO HELP BEFORE POSTING. Everyone on TLKGO is happy to help. That's just who we are.
4. Your characters should have a limit of three powers that all have their flaws or limits. Your character should also have a few weaknesses or flaws in their personalities, as well. They should not be overpowered--meaning insta-kill moves/powers, or powers that affect too big of an area of effect without major drawbacks to using said power (e.g., Zorayda can cover a large bit of area in complete darkness, but fire and other light can help counter it, and she can't see in it herself. It also does not hurt anyone).
5. If you want to plan something out involving other characters, TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT! Plans for RPs are very fun to create, but it involves all in the RP to help make it happen. PMs or the OOC/Discussion thread for this RP are great places to start. And if a player doesn't want to go along with those plans, it is their right not to do so.
6. Don't over-post. Let others have a chance to reply before you leap in after every other person and make replies. On average, you could perhaps post again after four or five posts have been made after yours, or the player with characters involved with your characters have posted so you can make a move.
And I think that should cover it. I don't intend for this to sound strict or harsh, but this RP has a lot of hardworking players in it, and I'd like to keep the integrity of the storyline. As creator of this particular RP, please do come to me for advice if you need help with characters, plot, subplot ideas, or ideas to continue the storyline. Your characters must be ok'd by me before you begin posting in the Sign-Up thread.
Thank you!
