Sukai slowly scaled one of the slightly larger rock sculptors in his kingdom, scanning his still slightly thirsty land. He was searching for his mate, Shujaa. In the recent months she had bore him an heir, Livius. Sukai was incredibly pleased with both Shujaa, for bearing him a resilient son and Livius for being committed to his father's every word. He continued searching until his trained eyes spotted Shujaa through the dust and he quickly descended from his platoon and with grace and an air of superior power walked towards his mate. She had also had a daughter, but Sukai never paid her much attention, he allowed Shujaa to care for her alone. Sukai was not young, his body was well past the stage where he could run to meet his mate or hunt, not that he ever did that when he could.
Nyama was laid beneath a thick tree, her young son not far away. She observed him as he played and she smiled. She had slowly developed her relationship with Nassir and they had now formed a small family pride, including them and their son Makuu.
Nyama awaited the return of her mate patiently and walked towards her son whom she adored greatly. She bent down towards him and picked him up in her paws before licking his head softly. Over the time that Nyama and Nassir had been together she had warmed up greatly and realised that it was much easier to let people in than it was to push them away. |

"Moom your messing up my mane" Makuu said as he tries to escape from her mothers paws.
Nassir trotted towards Nyama and Makuu he'd never thought he would have a pride of his own or a son and mate he had been doing his best to protect this pride from any danger especially Sukai's pride he also keeps a close eye on Makuu knowing their daughter Mitsune is around but for now it's time to relax a bit. He lays down next to Nyama chuckling a bit at Makuu's stuborness.

Shujaa smiled as Sukai approached her "so do you think Livius can really rule this pride?" she asked.

Nyama smiled softly and placed her son on the ground before saying "No I didn't this is messing up your mane." she placed her paw on Makuu's head and ruffled his small mane tuft.
She turned around when she heard the approach of Nassir and smiled, running towards him and rubbing her head against his neck. She too lays down and leans her head against Nassir. "How is the other pride." she asked slightly sourly, but she didn't want makuu to see her looking as she used to and so kept her voice down. She was hesitant about their neighbours, Sukai's pride, they had several cubs one of which was Sukai's, but she hadn't heard word of them for quite some time.
Sukai looked at his mate and let out a short laugh "Livius is more than capable of ruling this pride, he is strong, loyal and does everything I teach him. By the time I am gone he will be a fit ruler and will hopefully wipe out that measly pride Nassir has." His voice was low and scratchy as he spoke but he added "However he needs a mate to rule with him and will bare him beautiful cubs."
Livius was not far from her mother, his ears picking up on the conversation. He walked casually towards his father, his face straight and fixed. "Hello father." he said as he did a small bow. He knew he needed to make sure he addressed his father properly, otherwise he would slowly loose interest in him, or he would hit him again.

Shujaa grinned "perfect we just need to find him a good lioness to be his queen as long as they aren't from that dumb pride that Nassir has " she then shifted her attention to Livius. "ah Livius say Livius why don't you and your sister go exploring? maybe you can even find your future queen while your at it".

Makuu laughed a bit before fixing mane tuff.
Nassir sighed "Their the same as usual but honestly i'm really worried about our pride they had 7 more cubs and the only cub this pride has is Makuu if they ever decided to attack right now we probably wouldn't stand a chance." Nassir whispered back.
Makuu not really paying attention to his parent's conversation decided to go wonder off for a bit. He was looking a butterfly on a rock he grinned as he prepared to pounce.
(heh you can choose whats behind the rock ;p ).

Suakai nodded in agreement and looked down at his son, approval in his eyes "Don't go to close to the neighbouring prides though son, they don't know about our most promising asset yet." Sukai never had much physical contact with his family, he much rather just shout instructions at them and have them complete them quickly and quietly and just have many cubs as a side effect.
Livius remained passive and nodded but then he asked slowly "Why must I have a queen? Why can I not rule alone?" he knew not to question or even think about going against his wishes, but he wanted to know the confusing laws behind ruling a pride and he would have to learn them some how or another.
Nyama looked slightly saddened and she nodded slowly, they needed some allies, but there weren't many to have unless they joined Simba's pride. She watched her beautiful cub with loving eyes, and was terrified of loosing him, or Nassir for that matter.
Rayine saw a particularly beautiful butterfly perched upon a rock and she swung her tail elegantly from side to side as she slowly crawled closer to glistening butterfly. Her blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight and she smiled as she leapt towards it.

Makuu then leaped at the butterfly and then bumped heads with the other lion cub Makuu rubbed his head with his paws "ow what was that?"

"You need a queen if you want a heir that is your own" Mitsune walking towards Livius "now come on lets go kill a zebra or something Livius"

Rayine felt her head collide with something and she looked up. She saw a light brown lion cub about her age and she smiled, it had been quite a while since she had met someone new, let alone someone her age. She sat down and said "Me! Sorry.."
Livius looked around at his sister that had appeared from no where and nodded happy with this new piece of information, but inside he was disgusted, he didn't want to have a cub, they appeared to be annoying, they asked to many questions. He nodded and followed his sister in silence.
Nyama smiled at Nassir "As long as we are together." she repeated, nuzzling her mate.

"Hey where are you from? iv'e never seen a lion like you before" Makuu asked slightly surprised.

Mistune sniffed the air a few times "hmm i can kinda of smell a familiar lion cub hmm".

Rayine remained quiet for a moment, she didn't like her home, nor did she have anyone to care for her. She sat there, her expresstion vacant until she said slowly "Sukai's pride..." she looked at him, her large blue eyes glistening with pain and she awaited a response from him as she saw the scene of her mothers death play behind her vacant expression.
Livius took a deep breath in through his nose "Rayine....." he ran in the direction of the smell, wanting to catch her red handed.

Rayine just smiled softly and pounced on him shouting "You're it!" before jumping off and running away, a large smile upon her maw.
Livius continued running, hearing her shouting and using his acute senses to track her down.

Rayine laughed and ran faster, towards no particular place, it had been so long since she had played. "No your not!" she shouted in reply.
Livius stopped running and Rayine crashed into his leg. His face was stern and hers ashen in shock. She back away, now feeling extremely scared and sick. She gave a quick glance to Makuu telling him to run before staring back at Livius "He-Helo Livius.." she stuttered.

Makuu looked up and Livius quickly backing away however he was stopped by Mitsune by blocking his path. "You two aren't gonna go anywhere" Mitsune said coldly Makuu frantically looked around hoping for another lion to come save them.

Rayine straightened slightly "please don't hurt him...." she pleaded
Livius just laughed emptily "Who are you and where do you come from." he asked turning to the second cub, his gaze hard and questioning.
Rayine turned to Makuu, her eyes full of appologies, she had no idea how well or bad this would go, but she didn't have a good feeling about it and she remained slouched, hoping she would still have a friend once the encounter had ended.

Livius growled "Answer the whole question" he pushed Rayine to the ground with a hollow thud. He was his fathers son and did not appreciate this cub. He remained composed, staring at Makuu, his furry was growing with his insolence and he was growing short tempered.

Mitsune the placed a paw on top of Makuu "ah your his little heir i wont mind seeing them mourn your dead body" she then laughs sadistically.

Livius' mouth curled into a cruel grin "So... you are it. You are out of luck and protective parents." he said his face bi=urning with pride and eagerness, he had found the hated rival and now he could kill him.
Rayine recovered and pushed herself from the ground, running and leaping upon Livius, her small, sharp teeth digging into his pelt. He let out a small out cry of pain before tossing her from his back and turning towards her with the same menacing expression.

Makuu flailed his legs around trying to escape Mitsune but to no avail. He then took a deep breathe "HEEEEEEEEEEELP!" Makuu screamed as loud as he could Mitsune laughed "that ain't gonna work lil guy".

She pushed herself up shakily and stared at Livius with terror in her eyes. Livius stared back, his eyes slits as he walked closer to her.
Nyama heard the shout of her cub and looked at Nassir her eyes large and full of pain.

Mitsune ear twitched "do you hear something Liv?"

Nyama ran fast towards the shout, her mother instincts carrying her towards her son.
Livius spun around and took a long breath in through his nose and smelt two new lions. He hunched over slightly and nodded.

Mitsune also hunched over she also hunched over.
"HEEee-" Makuu was then silenced by a paw to his face.
Without a warning Nassir leapted onto Livius from the bushes "I won't let you hurt my son!".

Nyama followed Nassir and lept out from behind him, teeth bared as she leapt upon Mistune "Don't ever come near my son again." she growled viciously

Nassir placed a paw on Livius's neck "who are you and where are you from!" he snarled.
Mitsune struggled under Nyama's weight Makuu quickly ran away from Mitsune and towards Rayine as fast as he could.

Livius stared at Nassir coldly and shuddered slightly "A neighbouring pride." he said, trying to avoid his question as best he could.
Rayine was still in her shocked position, but as she saw Makuu she shook her head and looked at him solumly, her eyes wide, she knew that she would be in trouble and knew that she could not stay with Makuu.

Nassir pressed harder on Livius's throat "Which pride? are you Sukai's little lion cub? i can kill you right now and here if i wanted too"
Mitsune mustered enough strength to throw Nyama off her back and she immediately went after Nassir knocking him off Livius she then sprinted over to Rayine "lets get out of here!" she said before grabbing Rayine in her jaw and running away leaving Livius behind.

Livius shivered again involuntarily and he looked to the floor, his mind buzzing. It wasn't until Mistune called to him that he leapt up and ran, his feet leaping wide steps towards home.
Nyama fell from Mistune and quickly erected her posture, running towards her son and picking him up, running in the opposing direction, towards safety and known land.

Nassir groaned a bit and quickly stood on his feet and growled at Livius and Mitsune running away before following Nyama back home.
