KorongoThe day was casual and sunny, somewhat of a relief after all the rain. Korongo was perched on a large stone in the middle of a vast grassland, his head lifted and green eyes bright. A gentle breeze tousled his half-grown mane, and he open his jaws to draw in the scents. Prey, grass, stone, dirt. The usual. He splayed his paws over the rock and sat down with a thump. It was a nice view, and the boulder was warm from the blazing sunlight. It would be too hot soon, but the peak of the day hadn't come yet, so the young male was content to bask. He yawned widely, more out of boredom than sleepiness, and flicked his tail. A slight huffing noise came from his jaws afterwards. Sometimes he missed his old 'pride' of sorts...a nomadic group of about five lions--more or less now, if they were all still together. He couldn't be sure if there was still an existing pride after that flood had come through. Though he'd tried to find them, there'd been no traces. He only hoped his mother had made it. Korongo shook his head; enough of those dreary thoughts. He lowered his head and slid down onto his stomach with another huff. He cast his gaze around the savannah once more, and pawed at his muzzle before laying his head down and trying to stay still and enjoy the weather before it got too hot.

Nashana wandered through the tall grasses searching for something to do. Normally she would be hunting with the rest of the lionesses from her pride but the last time she did she had passed out from running. The prides shaman had told her to take it easy for a few days.
Nashana stretched and flexed her adolescent muscles. Her light fur rippled in the breeze and she yawned sleepily. Her brown eyes danced across the savannah looking for any sign of excitement. Nothing. She sighed.

Twitching his ears, Korongo lifted his head back up again as the day's heat began to really sink in. Perhaps it was time to hop off this boulder and get going somewhere. At least so he wouldn't overheat. The young male stretched and slid forwards, then plopped off the stone with a thud and shook out his tan coat with a snort. He pricked his ears and opened his jaws again to inhale the breeze. This time, though, he caught a scent of something less usual--another lion. Or a lioness, to be precise.
His interest taken, he turned and took a few steps in the direction of the odor. Perhaps it wouldn't be so boring after all. He was certainly looking forwards to some sort of interaction. Preferably a conversation or something, rather than a standoffish attack, but anything would do for the most part. He picked up his pace.

Nashana had fallen asleep in the warm afternoon heat. Now she opened her eyes quickly and looked around. Her ears twitched as she caught the scent of a lion close by. Nashana stayed hidden in the grasses and waited. She hoped the newcomer would simply pass by.

Korongo sniffed cautiously, ambling forwards. Surveying the savannah, he couldn't yet see anyone, but there were some scrubby bushes to hide behind, if that was the case. He flicked his tail, slowing down as the scent grew ever stronger. He turned his head about. He must be very close now, but there was no lioness present! Frowning, he tilted his head and came to a halt. "Hello?" he queried, pricking up his ears. "I mean no harm to whoever's here."

Nashana eyes the approaching lion suspiciously. He seemed to be speaking the truth, and even if he wasn't, she could take him. She smirked and slowly moved from her hiding spot in the grasses, "Hello." She said calmly.

The young lion flicked his gaze towards the speaker as she emerged from the grasses. His ears twitched, and his tail gave a quick flutter. "What were ya doing down there for?" he chortled, returning the smirk and cocking his head to the side. Sensing there was no cause for alarm, Korongo dropped his haunches down and sat politely, watching the lioness with a flickering green gaze.

He grinned. "Reasonable answer." The male rumbled, swishing his tail. "You live around here?" He asked, casting a quick glance around the grasslands. He couldn't be sure if she was part of a pride or not..though she did have the faint scent of other lions clinging to her fur. Korongo reclined casually and watched her again.

His ears pricked with curiosity. "Ah, I see. I'm not intruding then, am I?" He added with a slight smirk, tilting his head in a charming way. Eyeing her lightly for a moment, he straightened and flexed his forepaws against the soil. "I've been wandering for a while. So it's nice to see a friendly face." Korongo commented with a soft sigh. He hoped she didn't decide to leave just yet; he was curious and honestly wanted to chat as he hadn't gotten a chance to in far too long.

"No not at all." Nashana smiled, "Ziaji is a kind ruler. As long as you dont pose a threat to thepride, he will welcome you." Nashana's light fur rippled in the light breeze. Her brown eyes soft and curious. She didn't have many friends in the pride as she tended to be a loner.

Korongo inclined his head, glad that their meeting wouldn't have to be cut short. He blinked back at her. "Good. I assure you once again I have no intentions of harm." he chuffed, grinning. After a short pause, he averted his gaze in thought and then quickly brought the leaf-green eyes back to the lioness. "If you don't mind me asking, what is your name?" he asked with genuine curiosity. He'd wanted to make friends, so this was only the way to start.

The young male let out a light chuckle in return, swinging his head a little to allow the mane tuft to bob. "Lovely name." he purred with a smile. "I'm Korongo." he answered, jutting out his chin and smirking a bit. He relaxed back down and surveyed her. "It's a pleasure, really."

Korongo blinked at her. Not wanting the conversation to dwindle, he tilted his head and came up with another topic. "Do you come out here on your own much?" He queried, hoping that was a reasonable question. He pricked his ears and gave her a light smile.

"Actually yes." Nashana nodded, "my pride is very kind but I honestly don't have many closefriends there so I come out here quite a bit for something to do. What brings you here?" She asked, honestly curious about the newcomer. She tilted her head to the side

He nodded, a little surprised. Why would she not have close friends. The male twitched his tail and shrugged slightly as she asked him in return. "Was separated from my pride a few months ago, so I've just been wandering since." He replied nonchalantly. In truth it was still a little painful to think about his old pride, mainly his mother. But he acted as if it wasn't much if a deal. Korongo lifted his head, fixing a casual smile on his face. This was nice. Maybe he'd made a friend.

He grinned slightly. "Pretty cool." He replied, ears twitching. "I'm used to the wandering part, since my pride was nomadic, but being on my own has a sense of thrill to it." He went on with a slow nod. Not bothering to mention that he got lonely sometimes, oh no. "And I can handle anyone who tries messing with me. My mother taught me to fight well." He boasted with a small chuffing laugh. The young lion tilted his head to the side and splayed his paws against the ground, feeling quite relaxed.

((No problem. Hope everything's fine. cx ))
He dipped his head and smirked slightly, his eyes bright. "Guess no one'll mess with us, right?" He chuckled, flicking out his tail and blinking down at her. Korongo settled comfortably against the ground and surveyed her mildly. "So you're looking for something to do? Wanna explore with me?" He asked, wagging his tail playfully in a canine-like way. He hoped it didn't sound to odd. But he was bored all the same, and sharing an afternoon with a new friend seemed like a perfect idea.

The young male shrugged, glancing around over the grassland. "Anywhere! Wherever our paws take us!" He chuckled, standing up and stretching, flexing out each leg before giving his coat a quick shake. Gazing at Nashana, he lifted his head and grinned.

Korongo sprang forwards, flicking out his tail with excitement, and glance back to her. "Just...anywhere!" He rumbled brightly. "I've never been here before, so I dunno what's around here, so let's just start walking!" He finished, straightening up and grinning at her. The male strode forwards slowly, keeping his eyes fixed back on the lioness.

As she came after, he turned his head to face the front so he could watch where he walked. Matching her pace, he lifted his head and inhaled the cool breeze. "If you live nearby, do you ever come around here, or is this new for you too?" He queried lightly, quickly brings his green gaze to her for a moment.

"Well I do come out here quite a bit actually. Its the only place I'm not followed. The boys don't want to venture so far out as not to miss the next meal when its brought in, so its usually just me out here." She smiled, "Though it is nice to have company."
