Maji ran as far and as fast as her little body would carry her. Her breathing was labored and she was beginning to feel faint. She gasped for air but she kept running. She couldn't look back, couldn't stop. She had to keep going no matter what.

Jangwa had been walking for days. The red dirt has stained his hole underside, and his mouth was dry. He looked around. All he could see was red dirt and some small Joshua trees((OOC: I'm not entirely sure the grow in Africa, but eh.)). As his eyes scanned the area, he spotted a cloud of dust, not too far away. He quickly ran behind a tree, but whatever the cloud was, it had already seen him.

Maji stopped in her tracks. An adult lion stood before her. She froze into place hoping he hadnot seen her. She waited a second and then ran under a rock out cropping.

Jangwa swore a silent oath and looked out from behind the tree. The dust-cloud had disappeared. He wrinkled his eyebrows. He walked out from his hide, and towards a small rock formation. As he walked, he whirled up a cloud of dust with his powers. He sent it towards the rocks, as a blinding mist.

Maji coughed and gagged as the sand storm came toward her. She tried desperately to see but couldn't and her attempt to hide more left her exposed and out in the open.

Jangwa called off the sand. He ran towards the lioness, teeth and claws bared. He pounced at the lioness, but he had misjudged the distance, and got too far. He tumbled unto the side and then stood up. He looked slightly confused.

Maji looked up. Her tiny body shaking. She was still pretty young. Her baby spots hadn't completely faded yet. She covered her head with her paws, "Please..." came her tiny voice, "Please don't hurt me."

Jangwa raised his eyebrows. "Alright, I won't. Sorry, but i thought I was being attacked." He said, giving an embarassed smile.

The little cub looked up with frightened eyes, "Me? Attack you?" She looked puzzled, "I couldn't do that. Im too little. "

"I couldn't tell." Jangwa said, looking around. "Umm... My name is Jangwa. Where are your... Parents? Guardian?"

The little cub's face grew sad, "My... my mom died.... my other parents didn't want me." She didn't know if she should say anything but she knew she should always be honest. Her mother had taught her that.

"Oh... Well, then I can tell you that you aren't alone. I've never really known my parents." Jangwa said with a pained smile. "What's your name?"

"Maji." The cub smiled, "My mommy said it means water. Mom's name was Saba."

Jangwa smiled at Maji. "I wasn't raised by my mother. I was raised by a rogue. I didn't even know his name. He named me Jangwa, which means Desert." He said. He put a paw on the rose formed scar above his left eye.

Maji smiles shyly, "Mommy raised me because my other mom and dad didn't want me. They said I was too small. But my mommy loved me even though she wasnt like me. My old daddy said hyenas are mean but Mommy was nice."

"Your mother was a hyena? Lucky you. My "dad" was insane." Jangwa said, running his paw through his mane.

Maji looked confused, "Whats insane?" She asked innocently, "my mommy was the best."

"Uhh... It's like a sickness. In the head. Sometimes, he suddenly got really sad or angry. It's hard to explain." Jangwa said. He put his paw back on the rose-scar.

Maji nodded. She knew what insane was now. She had seen it in her birth mother and birth father who had left her abandoned and refused to give her food. Maji shook her head before the terrible memories could take effect. The rose on Jangwas head caught her attention, "What's that?" She asked, her head tilted curiously

"This world has too many mean creatures." Jangwa said. He then walked over to Maji and laid an arm around her small frame, comfortingly.

"I don't know... Perhaps they're just sad or lonely. Only few are truly evil." Jangwa started looking sad as well.

"Not the sand. Of course, you don't know. I have the ability to control sand." Jangwa said. As he spoke, he lifted a small pile of sand into the air, and let it float freely.

"Nope. It's actually an evil spirit stuck in me, that gives me the powers. I defeated it by feeling compassion. The rose keeps it stuck. It sounds far fetched, but it's true."
