The night was beginning to fall upon them so they headed back to Pride Rock and settled in for the night. Kovu watched them and smiled. He had heard reports about the two all day and so far everything he heard he was pleased with. He saw his daughter's breathing become rhythmic and he smiled watching her sleep. He moved toward Enuthu and smiled warmly, "I just want you to know we are very happy you're with us. You already have a great reputation among the pride and seem to be very good for my daughter. You have my blessing if you ever wish to move forward to a relationship with her. Though if you don't plan on staying or dont plan on having a long term relationship with Vitalini, I would humbly ask that you make that very clear as I do want her to have her heart broken."

Enuthu follow her back to pride rock, he smiled at Vitalini softly as she settled down for sleep. Once her breathing was rhythmic he stretched and walked outside, his dark fur causing him to melt into the background. When Kovu spoke he jumped slightly and turned to face him, bowing slightly before he spoke. He listened quietly and sighed once he finished smiled solemnly. "I love Tani, I will stay, I promised her that I would do so. However my past is shrouded in darkness and I do not want that darkness to infect this beautiful kingdom and her life.. I just want her to be safe, and if that means that I have to leave then I will do so, I will not watch my life take hers away." a small tear came to his eye but he brushed it away and smiled.

Kovu was right. The next morning Vitalini was up with the dawn. She couldn't bring herself to wake Enuthu so she bounded outside. To her surprise, the hunting party had already left so she decided to go on a hunt of her own. She smiled to herself and made her way through the pridelands looking for the best prey.

Enuthu felt the morning sun on his face and smiled. He stretched and yawned but when he opened his eyes saw Tani slipping from the cave. The hunting party had already left and so he guessed Tani was going to either catch up to them or go on her own hunt, he didn't really mind which one it was. He yawned again and walked towards the mouth of the cave to find Tani.

Vitalini had found a small herd of antelope nearby. She was getting ready to pounce when a noise from behind scared her and she dropped to the ground. The noise happened to be a large rhinosaurus and it didn't see Tani when she fell. It stepped on her front right leg. Vitalini cried out in pain as she felt the snap of the bone. The rhinosaurus charged forward scared of the lioness scream. The antelope fled and Tani was left writhing, alone and in pain

Enuthu heard the scream and dreaded the idea that it had come from Tani and he ran as fast as he could towards the cry. He watched a nearby antelope herd disperse as a rhino blindly blundered forward, but he kept running until he saw a flattened part of grass and he slowed until he saw what he least wanted; Tani's collapsed body. He felt a sharp pain in his gut and he lowered his body beside her and he whispered franticly "Tani where does it hurt? You will be alright.." he didn't want to see her like this and he didn't want her to hurt.

Tani moved her head to indicate her leg. "Enu" she whispered as her teeth clenched in pain, "it was a rhinos. I... I didn't see it." She hung her head in shame. She took such pride in her hunting skills and now one measly misjudgment would cause an injury that wouldn't allow her to hunt, "im so sorry. "

Enuthu shook his head "No, no don't be sorry, you will be fine, I promise." he said quietly tears coming to his eyes with pain as he saw the damage to her leg. He would have to take her to her father and so gently lifted her onto his back and whispered "Are you alright?" he started to walk back to Pride Rock slowly, her extra weight slowing him slightly.

Enuthu looked up at the approaching king and said through gritted teeth "Rhino, Tani.. broken leg." he continued to walk forwards.

Kiara rushed towards her daughter and said flushed "Enuthu you stay here or you will collapse." she ran off to find Rafiki, he was now old but he would know how to set her leg.

Rafiki came immediately and set Tanis leg. It was evening before Tani was able to completely rest comfortably. Kovu and Kiara had gone to inform the rest of the pride of Vitalini's injury.

Tani lay her head against Enuthu and sighed, "This is ridiculous."
