Name: Nafsi. This word means 'soul' in Swahili.
Species: Lion
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years
Appearance:
Nafsi stands a bit taller than average at the shoulder and has a very muscular frame, not a lick of extra body fat on him. His muscles show through his fur often and can be attractive one second, and intimidating the next. His main coat is a light brown with a lighter muzzle and underbelly. He has a sharp black nose and a blue-black, long and sleek mane that hangs down past his chin. He has several scars adorning his body and face. Nafsi's eyes are a bright yellow-gold. Nafsi's voice is a deep, rich baritone and sounds somewhat refined and calming... even when he intends to kill you.
Personality:
This lion has several mental illnesses wrapped in a lack of empathy. Nafsi is narcissistic and egocentric, thinking nothing of the needs of others and only of the wants of his own mind and body. He believes he is a god among lions and wishes to be feared and respected by all who surround him. He thrives on attention and having inferiors that fawn over him, though he gives little to nothing in return. This probably stems from his secretive inferiority complex and a deep need for love and affection, twisted though it may have become. He was a victim of his mother's intense abuse, making him the target of most of her attacks and insults while acting normal and motherly towards his brother. From this, he has also gained an intense fear of lionesses, and has the urge to hurt and control them so they do not do it to him first. Nafsi has turned this into a game from which he gains pleasure, and terrorizes females regularly.
His mind has warped itself to lack empathy for others, meaning that he feels no true remorse when hurting someone else. This makes him extremely dangerous. Another layer of added danger is his ability to charm others, using a silver tongue and handsome good looks to get what he wants and lull others into a false sense of security. He had been running rogue for quite some time before taking over this recent pride, meaning that he is even more selfish and eager to survive. He's an excellent and sadistic fighter, feral in battles and a skilled hunter. Others would never guess his twisted tendencies when speaking to Nafsi, however; he is attractive, funny, and quite classy. He is the image of what every lion wants to be and what every lioness wants, until they find out about his true personality and horrible murderous tendencies.
History:
Nafsi was born to a rogue female who reared him with impatience. This impatience turned slowly into violent abuse and emotional torture for many years; however, in his late adolescence, something in him finally snapped and he turned against his mother, killing her in a rage. This bloodlust never let up after that, turning him into a paranoid, narcissistic killer. Every time he tortures or murders lionesses in particular, he gets extra sadistic pleasure from it. Nafsi wandered for years with his brother after escaping the claws of his horribly abusive mother. The two of them took what they wanted and never stopped to think of the consequences. One day, they took advantage of a lone lioness and suffered her claws. Nafsi has the scars still to remember her by.
Afterwards, took over a pride, Nafsi himself killing their king, Taro. However, it seemed that Mtima grew a conscience, and he began to get onto Nafsi for being a tyrant over their new pride. Nafsi began to hate his brother, but let him alone for awhile until Mtima started to talk about their past. Nafsi then turned on his brother and cast him out, telling the lionesses that the attack on Aida and both their despicable pasts were Mtima's doings and not his own. Nafsi did this to keep himself safe from the lioness's wrath, redirecting their anger towards his brother so he would be out of the line of fire.

Name: Nguvu ("Strength")
Species: Panthera Leo
Gender: Male
Age: Adolescent
General Appearance: Nguvu is relatively small at all ages, though he is the eldest of three siblings. His main pelt color is a dark tan to a light brown, with a lighter underbelly that starts from his chest and goes all the way to his inner back legs. However, his paws, muzzle, and the area around his eyes are not a lighter color and instead remain the color of his main pelt. He has relatively large ears with brown ear markings, a sharp, dusky pink nose, a fluffy chin, rounded cheeks, and bright, yellow-gold eyes. Nguvu inherited his mother's blonde tail-tuft color, but his mane grows in two-toned and is as full as Nafsi's and Moyo's. His paw pads are deep brown.
Distinguishing Marks: Nguvu inherits all of his traits from his family, but the lack of coloration on his muzzle and eye area is his own quirk entirely. His fluffy chin is a bit different from anyone else's, as well. Nguvu almost always has half-drooped ears and half-lidded eyes, giving him a soft and shy sort of look.
Personality: Nguvu is anything but strong most of the time. He is somewhat quiet and intelligent, though not shy. He is very thoughtful of others and has an extremely kind and giving heart all throughout his life. He has one little problem, however--he goes into uncontrollable rages at times, sometimes without much warning. He becomes violent, loud, and aggressive, and will only calm down if he is 'snapped' out of it or he is left alone for a while. Nguvu feels terrible about these horrible bouts of violence and begs forgiveness afterwards. He works with his sisters and his father, Moyo, to try and manage his anger so that he does not lash out as badly.
Strengths: Very intelligent and inventive; often finds solutions to arguments or problems with innovation
Weaknesses: Small size and a slight lack of strength, plus his tendencies to go into rages.
History: Born to Aida, a former killer, and to a father that could be either a kind or a vicious lion, Nguvu has struggled with a thirst for violence from a young age. However, he does not become evil thanks to the help of his sisters and 'adopted' father, Moyo. He grows up in Nafsi's pride and learns the truth about the king over the years. Eventually his mother, Aida, dies, causing him much grief and turmoil for a long time. Even the mention of Aida's name could set him off, and this lasts for months. However, when he finally tries to move on, he becomes kind once again, though his kindness is tinged with a longing sadness that is only partially filled by his siblings and Moyo.
Parents: Aida, unknown father
Siblings:
Mate/Significant Other: None yet.

If I may suggest, you can link to posts so when your character list gets longer, edit the 1st post and add links to each of their profiles (aka. the posts where their profiles are) for easy navigation. A good idea, btw. Might have to consider doing something similar, maybe. Considering how lazy I am though, I doubt I'll ever get around to do so. xD

Species: Lion
Gender: Male
Age: Middle adult
Appearance: A very large-framed lion, with several scars marring his body from various struggles as a rogue. His main fur color is a light brown, with darker stripes on his back legs that never faded as a cub. He has lighter accents on his muzzle, paws, and belly. His front paws also have umber markings above the light accents that look sort of like fingerless gloves on a human. His nose is rounded but long, and has a dusky tan sort of color. His mane is about average in fullness and is shaggy along his neck, leading into messy, long fringe around his face and ears. His mane is two-toned in dark umber-browns, as well as his tail tuft. His eyes are a crisp gold color. Personality: Once a shy, quiet and peaceful lion, Haraka's history has taken his personality and broken it into several fragments. This lion's personality could be described in 'layers', so to speak. 99% of the time, Haraka acts the ruffian rogue, hardened by his years alone and thinking of no one but himself. This facet, which we'll call the 'scallywag', has a sort of pirate's creed of taking all he can for himself using trickery and his overpowering abilities. This has kept him alive as a rogue, stealing leftovers from prides, keeping himself alive in a pack of angry African Wild Dogs after they found him stealing pieces of their kill over time. Haraka is also somewhat of a rash braggart, challenging others with no real intent of backing up his words. He'll often take the smarter route of running away, though, earning him the 'coward' title from time to time. Haraka isn't stupid, and will often use his wits to trick others to escape dangerous situations.
The next facet, or layer, is something we'll call the 'teddy bear'. Underneath the credo of violence and selfishness, Haraka can honestly be extremely generous and protective of those who have less than he does. This especially goes for young cubs and adolescents, whom he will harbor a soft spot for and protect from danger, acting all the while as though they are nuisances he wants no part of. After this, Haraka has a brooding, dark side that is less harmful to others and more destructive within himself. His past makes him doubt himself, and through all the bravado he has zero real confidence. He doubts himself and has misgivings about trusting himself to do anything worthy in his life. He has contemplated suicide from time to time because of this feeling of belonging nowhere and having no purpose.
The final, 'real' center of Haraka is a soft, quiet, and shy lion, happy and peaceful. He has the capability to soothe and heal any in emotional pain and has a huge, empathetic heart. Though he still doesn't have extreme amounts of confidence, Haraka's 'true' self is at peace with his past. You could say that this facet of his personality needs to be unlocked, somehow, through a constant friend and self-discovery.
Three words to describe his personality in a nutshell: Brash benevolent scallywag
Strengths: Charming in a 'bad boy' sort of way, smooth talker, neutrality toward others, flexible ability
Weaknesses: Always getting into trouble, hot-headed and rash, has a dark past and sometimes can be caught brooding
History: "Take your place as King, Haraka. You will lead our pride to glory." These were the words repeated to the prince since he was born into a pride of peace and harmony. Haraka lived in paradise, learning how to be a wise ruler in a utopian pride. These lions didn't even properly hunt; instead, they claimed to ask herds to say their piece and goodbyes to an elder member so he or she could be killed quickly and eaten for the lions' benefit. The lands flourished and everyone loved the current king and queen, Haraka's parents... or so it seemed.
Haraka soon found out a dark secret of their pride. He noticed various lions disappearing after certain events, such as having been caught killing prey without permission, becoming pregnant from out of wedlock, and other such 'unacceptable' rule breaking. They were never punished, but they soon were gone. Haraka's father claimed that this was because they were so ashamed of themselves that they simply left the pride, never to return to their paradise. Haraka had serious doubts about this, and began snooping around in quiet. He discovered hundreds of skeleton buried in a sort of hidden graveyard... all of them of lions and lionesses. Horrified when he recognized the fresh body of the latest rulebreaker, Haraka confronted his father one-to-one about it.
The king simply smiled sadly at his son, telling him that it was the way it had to be... lionesses surrounded them, all a part of the pride's cult, murmuring their agreement with the king. All of them praised his ways, saying that this peace had a price but was all worth it. Disgusted, Haraka pleaded with his father to stop, but the king only told him to join his venture to make the lands perfect, to take over a nearby pride and force them into their beautiful culture. When Haraka refused, he was attacked on all sides, leaving him broken and bleeding. His father stopped the lionesses before Haraka was killed and dragged him to the graveyard before giving his son one last chance, telling him that he was doing so out of love for his son. Haraka hesitated before quickly coming up with a plan in his head. Apologizing profusely, Haraka tricked his father into a false sense of security before the adolescent struck out at the king, clamping his jaws around his own father's throat and suffocating him to death. The young lion, bleeding and injured, limped away and banished himself from the evil pride, surviving on to live a life out as a rogue and forming a protective persona so as to forget his past.

Post by Zorayda on May 21, 2013 3:39:00 GMT
Species: Lion
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult; may change according to roleplay
General Appearance: -Body shape: Muscular and very large; toned -Main color: Buttery golden -Accent colors: A lighter gold color on his belly, with a chocolate brown muzzle and paws. His eyes are underlined by the dark chocolate color while a light gold colors the spot above his eyes. -Mane/tail: Black -Eyes: Emerald green -Paw pads: Dusky pink -Nose: ‘Pridelander’ shaped and dusky pink in color -Other:
Distinguishing Marks: Instead of having a light colored muzzle and paws, his are instead darker than the rest of his coat as a chocolate brown.
Personality: Taro is very social and amiable, but in a quiet sort of way. He has the nature of a gentle giant, choosing not to use his size against others and instead to show kindness. He is extremely protective, and, at rare times, possessive of those he loves. If they become threatened, Taro can become a savage beast. All of these traits make him a wonderful leader and protector in general, though his rare flashes of violence have grave effects on his conscience and psyche afterwards. His self-confidence is somewhat unstable, and if someone close to him were to say something mean to him or make him feel unwanted, it would take a very long time for him to recover.
Abilities/Skills: Extremely strong and physically able. Taro can overpower nearly any lion he meets in single combat, though taking them on in numbers is difficult.
Strengths: His strength and compassion for others. These make him a wonderful candidate as a mate, friend, or leader.
Weaknesses: His weakness comes from his compassion and protectiveness for others. He would give anything for those he loves, even if it means doing something terrible to make sure they are safe or happy. Also, even as a big, strong, lion, he could easily get roped into an abusive relationship emotionally. Blackmail and guilt tripping work very well on Taro, so this can make him easy to manipulate.
History: Taro’s history is not very exciting, having been born and raised in the Pridelands. His mother taught him empathy and compassion at an early age in cubhood. A lot of his traits also come from the fact that he’d been rather small as a cub compared to the other males, and was often picked on. However, even as a tiny cub, he faced up to those who bullied other cubs bravely. One of these was Shyla, who had been trying to fight off a group of troublemakers by herself. Taro leapt in and helped her, chasing them off. She and Taro became fast friends, each the opposite of the other. Taro tempered Shyla’s sassy attitude with his own unassuming one, and they were inseperable. Then, as an adolescent, Taro grew to an enormous size. He even outgrew his father, a member of a distant pride who came in for visits every once in a while. Taro has been on his own for a while now, seeking to start a pride of his own and become a king. His best friend Shyla is often seen by his side, and they plan to become mates when they find a place to start a pride.
Parents: Malari (Father), Sita (Mother)
Siblings: none
Mate/Significant Other: Shyla

Name: Mgodi ("Mine")
Species: Lion
Gender: Male
Age: Varies per roleplay; default young adult
General Appearance: Mgodi is short and a little fat, but don't let it fool you; he is quite strong and muscular underneath. He walks with a bit of a swagger and often wears a smug smirk on his face.
Size- Slightly shorter than average, but muscular as well as overweight; one might call him lumbering, but one swat from his powerful paw would end that. Main pelt color- Dark tan-tawny with a tinge of gray. His mane is a dark brown, almost black. Accent colors- Lighter around his eyes, muzzle, belly, and toes, with darker-than-pelt bands on both front paws and at the end of his tail. He also has light ear-rims and grayish-pink inside. His nose is deep gray. Other colors- Even at his fairly young age, he has a smattering of gray mane hairs, earning him the affectionate nickname "Babu" (Grandpa). Eye color- Chocolate brown; often sparkles with humor Other- His paws are a bit small for his frame, and he has deep, massive scarring on his left back leg, all the way from his knee to his haunch. This is from a run-in with rogues quite a long time ago. That leg also hurts him from time to time, due to the bone having been broken badly at one point. Sometimes it twinges fiercely in the night and wakes him, making him hiss and growl with pain until it lets up. He cannot walk or run far distances without it acting up and he must sit or rest to make it go away.
Distinguishing Marks: The bands above his paws and at the end of his tail, the scarring at his back leg/haunch, and the gray hairs in his mane.
Voice: (No recording available) Deep, comforting, and somewhat cheerful sounding. Mgodi almost always sounds upbeat; this is one of Fadhila's favorite physical attributes of his. He often drops into a sarcastic tone due to his love of teasing others.
Personality: Relaxed, laid-back, and all-around charming and friendly. Mgodi has a carefree (sometimes to the point of careless) attitude, making him a lion that others can relate to easily. He doesn't get his hackles up as much as other lions about territory or taking over prides and will accept leadership by another male with little argument. However, if he does have a problem with who is leading, he grumbles about it and ducks his head until he can't take it anymore, and may pick a fight. Though, sometimes, his mouth will write checks his body can't cash, and taunts others when sometimes he is outmatched. He's often rescued by Fadhila, who is actually a better fighter than he is.
He has a habit of hiding things that bother him with a false, carefree demeanor, though little signs, minor snapping comments, and general aloofness can clue others in on it. Mgodi likes to pretend he's a spoiled little prince and loves to be babied and lavished with attention, though in the end he knows who's boss (though he hates to admit it out loud to their faces). He has a sharp sense of humor that can be borderline mean at times, especially in groups, but when alone he likes to simply tease and try to get gullible lions to believe him when he says something off-the-wall. Even when angry, he will drop into a sarcastic tone and use bitter humor to express it.
Mgodi is extremely protective, and is much more outward about it than Fadhila. He will block someone bodily if he things they're badmouthing someone he cares for, and confront them loudly (often to the embarrassment of Fadhila, who will snap that she can take care of it herself). He's a warm, loving fluffball with a romantic side, and so everyone forgives him for these minor bouts of overprotectiveness and bravado. He seems to charm anyone he meets with his warm voice, charming smile, and easygoing personality, and so nobody ever really stays angry at him. Mgodi also loves to eat, hence his weight issues, though he'll always (grudgingly) be generous with others first.
Abilities/Skills: He's actually pretty good in fights--he will wait almost carelessly and watch his opponent's movements before literally throwing his weight around, oftentimes coming out the victor.
Strengths: Unexpected skill in battle, charming personality, protectiveness
Weaknesses: Sometimes overprotective, can anger strangers with sarcasm, bravado at times when he can't back up his words
History: Born and raised in a happy family in a well-off kingdom, Mgodi grew up spoiled. He's always been a little chubby, but he often liked to go on runs and was always the heavy lifter when helping the lionesses take home game from their hunts. As a teen, he met and fell deeply in love with a lioness named Agea, and the two of them were inseparable. Agea had a few mental issues, including depression and possible bipolar tendencies, but they worked through them together and grew even closer because of that.
Back then, Mgodi was even less careful than he is now, and often liked to run off alone with Agea into the wide-open savannah for... fun activities, and to talk. His parents often warned that he should not go out into the open plains, seeing as leopards, hyenas, and dangerous rogues could be about, as well as angry lone elephants or rhinos. One night, he encountered several rogue lions--three brothers with ill intentions. Mgodi tried to protect Agea, but they were outnumbered and outclassed by their fighting skills. Agea suffered numerous injuries and bled upon the ground, and one fateful blow broke her neck and killed her instantly. Mgodi suffered horrible gashes to his back leg, bones broken, and was starting to bleed out. He was about to be killed by one of the brothers when his father and a pack of pride lionesses came to their rescue and saved his life.
Mgodi cared nothing about his own injuries, though, and became horribly depressed and guilty for a very long time. He was the reason Agea died, he felt, and he began to think he was a horrible, undeserving lion who had no place in life. He had nightmares of that night (and sometimes still does), making him more and more tired from insomnia every day. When his leg healed enough for him to walk, he went out again, this time with the intent of spurring the rogues to kill him in a suicide. However, he did not expect to meet a different lion--a lioness, pale in color and startled to see some other lion there. Though cautious at first, Fadhila soon found out that Mgodi was listless and harmless, and did not call her pride sisters over from the hunt.
The two sat down and began talking, and they kept on and on until they lost track of time. Fadhila left eventually, though his presence stuck in her mind, and hers, in his mind. Mgodi had something new to live for, and it put a bit more spring in his step; something his parents noticed. He told them all about Fadhila, and right then they knew he was falling in love again. Mgodi denied it vehemently and became angry at them, and guilty and ashamed of himself for loving another besides Agea. However, as he kept meeting Fadhila, she was like a healing salve for his heart and his life. They hit it off and as Mgodi grew into an adult, they became an official couple. Fadhila asked him one day to come to her pride, and with his parents' blessing and Fadhila's leaders', he did so, and he is very happy with her.
Parents: Both in the pride with his half-brother. He moved to this one to be with Fadhila, a spur-of-the-moment decision that he has not once regretted (though he teases her otherwise when she picks on him).
Siblings: One half-brother of another pride, Keni
Mate/Significant Other: Fadhila
Roleplays: Legacy is All That Remains
LiATR Extra: He is at odds with Fadhila on whether or not Uru is to be trusted as their leader. He doubts Uru, though he doesn't openly oppose her, though he could be swayed to either side. This gets him into arguments with Fadhila and has put their relationship on the rocks.

Post by Zorayda on Aug 17, 2013 15:47:57 GMT
Name: Fadhila (fahd-HEE-lah) "Virtue"
Species: Lioness
Gender: Female
Age: Varies per roleplay; default young adult
General Appearance:
Size- Medium-sized lioness, with graceful but full, shapely legs and a full figure. She looks sleek in profile. Main pelt color- Very pale cream. Technically she is a white lion, but she's not perfectly white. Accent colors- About the same color as her main coat, possibly a little lighter. She has no above/below eye accents. Other colors- Her tail tuft is a sort of dirty-blonde color with striations of lighter blonde. Eye color- A light, soft green-gray that gets more blue in direct sunlight. Other- She has a few freckles on each cheek that are light brown in color. Also, her eyebrows are a light brown rather than black. Her chest fur is also extremely fluffy.
Distinguishing Marks: Pale fur and unique eye color.
Voice: col-project-zorayda.tumblr.com/post/47766670324
Personality: Fadhila has a multi-faceted personality, that of someone who has had many life experiences. She appears bright and cheerful, and perhaps a little ditzy at times. She laughs with the best of them and cracks witty jokes all the time, sometimes flirting with others for fun. Fadhila is always there when someone needs her. She can be a comforting shoulder and an excellent caretaker. But all of this hides her past, her pain.
Fadhila is very vulnerable. She has many scars on her heart from the emotional and physical abuse from her mother, making her very susceptible to sharp remarks. She is especially sensitive to any remarks having to do with her motivation or character, since it was this that her mother attacked the most. In these cases, Fadhila may suddenly be snappy, moody, and keep to herself, choosing to stay away from others and mope. If someone notices this pattern and chooses to stay with her and comfort her, she becomes instantly attached to whoever it is and can be dangerously swayed into loving them or thinking overly high of them. She gets attached to others extremely easily and can be hurt easily.
However, her strength comes from the indifference she shows on the outside during any abuser's attack and the extremely aggressive protectiveness of others who have to endure the same. She keeps a cool head during emergencies and is very reliable in general. Over the years, she has learned that holding her tongue is not always the best choice. This has made her more outspoken on her opinions or calling others on their bull.
Abilities/Skills: She knows a little of the healing arts, though not enough to be a true shaman.
Strengths: Her protectiveness and amiability.
Weaknesses: Vulnerable to emotional attacks and lends her heart out too easily at times.
History: Fadhila was the elder of two. She had a younger sister who looked up to her and an unknown father who left her, her sister, and her mother to wander alone. Fadhila's mother had a narcissistic personality and would emotionally and physically abuse both of them, but put special focus on Fadhila. Fadhila grew up knowing no better, but always hated herself and thought that she was a worthless lioness. Her sister was less affected but avoided punishment as much as possible through the protection and love of Fadhila.
Eventually, Fadhila met others and noticed how lovely and wonderful their relationships with their parents were, and suddenly saw how wrong her mother was to put her down so much. So, finally, after a very long time, Fadhila worked up the tiniest bit of courage and ran off, leaving her sister and feeling horribly guilty for doing so. As she grew, she made new friends and slowly started loving herself, begrudgingly with others' help. Eventually she worked up the courage to find her mother and sister again to help her sister leave--but her sister had already left.
Fadhila found her mother with a strange lion, giggling and flirting disgustingly and being overly lewd in front of her on purpose. With a sneer and a clear look at what her mother truly was, Fadhila left, never to see her again.
Recently, Fadhila has found love in a caring lion with a broken past, just like herself. They fell almost immediately in love and simply click personality-wise, his cool, calm and warm demeanor off-balancing her naturally bubbly nature. Sometimes the two of them must comfort one another when they break down and talk about their pasts, but it seems to only make them grow closer.
Parents: Unknown father, unnamed mother
Siblings: Unnamed sister
Mate/Significant Other: Mgodi
Roleplays: Legacy is All That Remains
LiATR Extra: Fadhila was accepted into the Pridelands as an adolescent after running from her mother, and has recovered into a less paranoid, and more 'free' lioness. The pale lioness became quick friends with Uru (princess at the time) and the two were thick as thieves. They grew up into adults with one another, and nowadays Fadhila stands steadfastly at her best friend's side. She met Mgodi in one of the lionesses' hunts and they kept meeting, eventually becoming mates. Mgodi moved into the Pridelands with Mohatu's acceptance.

Name: Hlela (huh-LAY-luh, sometimes referred to as "Hell" or "Helly") Race: Lioness Gender: Female (also identifies as female) Age: 25 in human years Pride or Clan: Xaxios'h. Rank: Military troop leader Parents: Unknown foreigners Siblings: none Mate: none Offspring: none
Occupation: Soldier
Alignment: Lawful Neutral Sexual Orientation: Asexual
Physical Appearance:
When taking the first glance at Hlela, you would first notice how stunning and gorgeous she is. Sleek figure, dewy blue eyes, groomed and glossy fur, and delicate facial features. However, this loses its luster when you figure out how absolutely frigid she is.
Hlela stands at about 3 ft. 4 in. at the shoulder, and her body length is approximately 5 ft. 1 in.. She weighs in at about 238 lbs.. Her tail length is quite long for her body, coming to about 34 inches. She is significantly smaller than the average lion--even for the average lioness. Those who tease about her size, however, will quickly have her claws at their throats as her personal punishment. Her small size makes her perfect for acrobatic combat, using her opponent's size and power against them. Her figure itself is sleek and slim. She has an aerodynamic head and ears, a gracefully arched neck, slender limbs, and a tucked-in tummy. Hlela attracts many eyes for her beauty, but none have ever had the privilege of its warmth in a den. Her prettiest feature would be her large, deep blue eyes, if it weren't for the lack of warmth in them.
Her main fur color is a light cocoa-cream color, that deepens dramatically to a dark chocolate at her tail end, paws, spine, ears, and muzzle. Her toes have a sharp contrast of midtone brown color, as do the areas around her eyes. Her nose is a deep coal--not quite black. Her belly fades to a lighter cream color. Her tail tuft is a very dark chocolate brown, and her eyes are a rich oceanic blue. Her inner ears are also the midtone brown color of her paws. Hlela's claws peek out a bit from their sheaths even at rest, a reminder to others of her constant vigilance. Her fur itself is a short, downy soft texture that looks glossy in appearance--she keeps herself very well-groomed and neat. A few tiny, light scars mar her skin, mainly around her shoulders, but they are hardly visible unless seen from the right angle beneath her fur.
She walks with orderliness in her steps, as if marching like a soldier were natural to her. Hlela's voice sounds young and feminine, though without any warmth, it lacks that touch of charm other lionesses have in their tones.
Personality:
Hlela has a cold, clinical personality that reminds one of either a scientist or a robot. She has a very direct and blunt approach to everything, always coming up with the best logical or literal explanation for events that happen in front of her. She is almost never ruffled or emotional--in fact, there are few who have ever seen her make an expression apart from her normal blank facade. Hlela has extremely high concrete intelligence. She can memorize, analyze, and recall anything she hears of or sees. However, with this amazing feat of intelligence comes the fact that she has not one creative bone in her body. Hlela is not artistic, innovative, or inventive--rather, she is only good with what she already knows as concrete fact.
Hlela is reclusive, withdrawn, and generally stays alone. She has no real sense of empathy or compassion for others and tends to put herself first. Being raised in a militaristic society with no intimate contact for others has erased her need for relationships or real friends. At most, she has comrades, though she rubs too many lions the wrong way to become friendly acquaintances. Her attitude about this is that she has no need for them. Having strings attached only serves to hinder her. However, deep down she secretly fears relationships and thinks they are a weakness. Hlela believes that being detached makes her stronger and less emotionally compromised. Hlela has no real desires in life besides to be the best soldier she can be. She has some ambitions to move up in ranks, but her main purpose, she feels, is to serve the country and follow orders. She has no dreams or wants besides this, though a turning point in her life could change this.
She has an incredible sense of control and stubbornness, which also adds to her thick skin and unflappable demeanor. There has not been a single lion who could fully intimidate her (besides when she was only a cub). Hlela believes in 'an eye for an eye', so if she is attacked or challenged, she meets it to the fullest. So far she has won nearly every fight she's been in--especially as she gets older and more experienced. She never backs down when challenged or threatened and thinks that in doing this, it makes her stronger and more respected. She appreciates those who allow her her space and privacy. Hlela is difficult to please and does not really seek fun or enjoyment. Her enjoyment is the knowledge that she has successfully accomplished a mission or learned a new skill. She likes the security of working in this strict regime and believes in the system, though she is not inherently evil. She simply knows nothing else and thinks that this is the best way to do things.
RECENT CHANGES- Since the Xaxios'h rebellion, Hlela has lost much of her faith she held in the Ti'wenkai system. Her faction lost under a crazed warmonger, making Hlela one of many soldiers that other Ti'wenkai prides look down upon as the weak losers (or so she perceives). Hlela's entire personality is changing, though she does not like it--lack of true organization and an unstable system, paired with unnecessary cruelty and waste of lives have made her unsteady. She snaps more easily at others, and is more prone to doubt herself or her troops. She thinks she needs to be harder on others to keep everything organized and together... but she also thinks that perhaps this system needs to be changed.
Personal Information/History:
Hlela has been Ti'wenkai for as long as she can remember, though she was not born in this nation. She was born to a foreign kingdom to a peaceful pride, living on the outskirts of the Ti'wenkai nation. It wasn't long before the militaristic society came through her lands, demanding that the pride turn to them and become their slaves. Their king refused, resulting in the slaughter of nearly all the pride members. However, Hlela and her mother were spared. Hlela's mother, Reah, was asked if she wanted to join them and be spared. With her entire pride, including her mate, dead, Reah meekly accepted slavery and gave her daughter away to keep them both alive. Reah was forbidden from ever seeing or speaking to her daughter, who was too young to remember her mother by the time she grew up anyway. Reah works as an industrial slave on the opposite end of Ti'wenkai, away from Hlela.
Hlela went straight into the military training in a Xaxios'h agogue. Brutal training made her go from a shy, sensitive and sweet young cub to a closed-off and robotic soldier. Now, she remembers nothing of her young cubhood, nor does she wish to know about her life before her 'awakened' state as a Ti'wenkai. Her position is that of a seasoned and skilled warrior, though her command only reaches as far as one small troop of soldiers below her. She continues to work her way up the ranks, fighting to proving her worth despite being a small lioness and as a foreigner unworthy of too much recognition.
RECENT CHANGES- Roshan, leader of the Xaxios'h pride military, led them into a suicidal civil war against other Ti'wenkai nations. This was crushed, of course, but Hlela was one of the many soldiers following the orders of her superior--even though she hated the idea of going against the system of her society she had so much faith in. Hlela was forced to be cruel, merciless--far more so than what was considered normal among the Ti'wenkai nation. Needless death and carnage happened all around her, making her faith fall apart. Now she remains a pardoned member of society, still a soldier at heart but unsure of what orders she should follow anymore. Things have returned to the way they were around her... but within, Hlela has changed. To what extent is yet to be discovered.
