(A war rages between three prides; the highlanders to the north, the shrublanders to the south-west and the grasslanders to the east. Once allies, the highlanders betrayed the treaty set out years ago and invaded the grasslands. The grasslanders where taken by surprise and sustained heavy losses. They looked to the shrublands for help, but the leaders where reluctant to join. Yet several of their young one joined the battle and aided the grasslanders, managing to push them back for a while, but not for long. As the frontline begins to fall, rogues begin to join either side, hoping for a place in the winning side’s pride. To make matters worse, the local hyena clan as set its sights on all three lands, intent on attacking when the prides are at their most vulnerable.)
(Note! Join up in any group you wish!)
Nukta held his head up, allowing the rain to dampen his face further and wash away the blood staining his muzzle. The frontline near the Grasslands borders had seen the most fighting, and more still poured out of the highlands, even after three days of fighting. Those around him were in no better condition than himself, so Nukta began to wonder how long before the line was broken.
Though a rogue only several months prior, Nukta had joined the Shrublanders out of hunger and thirst. Though they had been weary of him at first, the pride soon accepted him. He and several others had volunteered to cross the border and help the grasslanders when the King refused to get involved, despite being their ally.
Out of the corner of his eye, Nukta spotted the huge, scarred male known as Tifu carrying a young female on his back towards Raja, the local shaman who had provided the medical care that several others had tried to do. Tifu was the King’s second in command, and commander of the border guards, whom had all been nearly wiped out in the first few raids two days prior. But even he was succumbing to exhaustion and Nukta began to think how long they would last.
Suddenly, a young male barely growing into his mane ran passed Nukta and headed straight for Tifu.
“There our more coming sir! The near the first boundary as we speak!”
Tofu’s gaze hardened. “All lions to their posts immediately, prepare for battle!”

OOC: I can't resist a good war story... :P
IC: Hagen lay quietly in the shade of a small acacia tree, treasuring this brief moment of rest while he could. From his spot, he could watch Raja and her helpers as they attended to the wounded and was grateful to not be one of them... yet. There was no telling when those highlanders would strike again. The young lion groaned and rested his head on this paws, closing his eyes for a moment. So many had been lost... So much blood spilt, and for what? Nothing good ever came of war...
Being part of the guard sometimes did mean engaging in skirmishes with rogues, but he had never seen anything of the scale of what was now happening. The highlanders had struck full force, taking no prisoners, and Hagen was one of the lucky few of Tifu's border patrol who had survived the first assaults. He sighed, eyes still closed, and tried not to think of it, but it was easier said than done... His usually snow white fur was caked in blood and mud and his half-grown mane was tangled with leaves and various wooden debris. But he was otherwise miraculously unscathed. He could not care less about his appearance. Such things did not matter in times like these... There was only one reason he had not deserted the front lines - to defend his family. Sure, maybe there was a chance the highlanders would not treat the rest of the pride the way they treated the fighting forces, but from what he had heard, such a thing was not likely... If only the shrublander king could understand that the killing wouldn't stop with the grasslands. The highlanders wouldn't hesitate to take his kingdom too, if the grasslanders failed.
And they couldn't fail.
The white lion was slowly starting to relax, dozing off in the warm weather, when a shout reached his ears...
“There our more coming sir! The near the first boundary as we speak!”
"Oh, no..." Hagen grimaced and opened his eyes, looking to Tifu, who had been carrying a wounded lioness. Undoubtedly...
“All lions to their posts immediately, prepare for battle!”
...he would say that. The young lion's blue eyes narrowed and he rose to his paws, gritting his teeth. "Yes, sir!" he replied and trotted forth, joining his commander's side.

Tifu let out a thundering roar, a signal to all those near the first boundary. Nukta joined the others in the back of the column as they trotted towards the boundary. A sense of worry filled his heart, though that was normal when faced with an enemy who refused to show it.
The short march to the boundary barely took half as long as if usually did, though Tifu had hoarded them along, yelling and swiping at the feet of any who fell behind. Tifu was a good lion, but years of war had encased his heart in stone, leaving a male who only focused on the goal. The scene that greeted them was not pretty; multiply lions, groaning and crying in pain from open wounds, lay along a row of thick scrub, providing some from of shade from the raising sun. Near them, an open grave littered with the bodies allies and enemies alike lay exposed to the flies, not a sight many of the younger lions could handle.
The column moved further up the line, away from the scrub fields and out into the open plain; a stretch of dry up land once a river that flowed through all three kingdoms. Tifu allowed the group to gather their breathe, before barking out orders to his second, a young female with a tanned pelt and emerald eyes named Dana. She took Nukta and several others, some even younger than him, and walked them a little further up the dried river bank.
They came to a small incline where Dana ordered the group to lay and wait, their job; simply to ambush the main body of the enemy. It was then that he spotted them. A mass of golden and pale pelts, mixed in with the large puffed up dark manes of the highlanders. Nukta had seen them before; having ripped a few throats in the pass few days, but what shocked him was the sheer number that changed over the dried crust. Where their group only numbered between fifteen and twenty, this mass that charged towards them outnumbered them at least 3 to 1.
But from the corner of his eye, Nukta spotted a sudden movement in the scrub. Suddenly, a band of lions surrounded them and did not hesitate to attack.

When will it end? Amani had been laying on a hill overlooking the battle that was happening in front of him. He wasn't a grasslander or highlander but was a shrublander and was wondering whether he should help the grasslanders or not, even though his king was not willing to help them. But of course he thought differently and left the pride to see what was happening in the battle, but what he saw simply horrified him. As much violence as he's seen as a guard he had seen nothing but blood and fighting everywhere he looked, but when he saw the grave full dead lions covered in blood and flies from where he stood he nearly vomited upon seeing the sight.
He too just like Hagen who he had met on one occasion was a guard. He was actually worried about him and the rest of the grasslanders that simply fought for, not just for their lives but their pride. "What am I going to do." he says sadly" I could help with my fighting ability and endurance. But my king is not willing to help." He looks around for a better vantage point until suddenly out of nowhere a lioness pounces on him "What the-" he exclaims.
He was so shocked at what happened that all he did when she was on top him was simply stare at her shockingly almost in a confused sort of way. "What?!? You messed up my hunt! Who are you anyways? You're not in my pride!" she yells at him. He looked at her angrily as though if she just if she was out of her mind but says calmly yet almost menacingly " The names Amani and I'm a shrublander." He manages to get her off of him and sat where he was and says while trying not to make eye contact with her.
"Look", he says"I'm sorry if I ruined your hunt it was an accident. I had been simply laying here until you suddenly pounced on me. If it would make you happy I would gladly go and get that antelope for you." He waits for a response.
