As Lorien enjoyed his wind in her fur, Chaza digested the new information. So, open war had not yet been declared, then. That left him with certain options. And who could say that a war would not be in his best interests? Prides in turmoil were, after all, the easiest to take over.
Lorien's question caught him off-guard, to say the least; like a rude awakening from a beautiful dream. Join a pride? Far from it! He laughed nervously, without feeling. "Ah...no. No, I'm afraid not, Lorien. For, you see, I have no ties here. A war just wouldn't be my affair, you understand." Not entirely false, a small grain of truth lay hidden in the words. "And you -- what's keeping you here? Surely many handsome rogues would jump at the chance of traveling with a lovely lioness like yourself." Chaza grinned. She was getting comfortable, and that suited his purpose nicely....

Blushing a bit beneath her greyish brown fur, she looked to the ground, a slight smile on her face. No one had ever spoken to her like this. "I can't leave here." She looked up and out to the lands surrounding them, taking a deep breath, smiling just a bit bigger. "This is my home. They are my family." She looked down at him as he lay there. "Besides, a chance has never arisen." She herself settled down beside him, her tail flicking behind her idley. "I don't think I could leave here, even if it did. I'll fight beside my pride if the need arises, though I'm not sure how much of an asset I will be."

Chaza's seemingly permanent grin stayed in place as Lorien spoke. "I see." He hoped she hadn't taken his words as an offer; but that was what he'd implied, if not exactly what he wanted to occur. "Well, I admire your loyalty, certainly." Chaza knew that loyalty would not be easily broken -- if slightly naive, Lorien was anything but gullible. He woulf need to try a new approach. "Perhaps I could be of some service...would you show me where this Feraga pride lives?" He'd have to find them eventually, with or without her help.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitama hissed with a sharp intake of air. So, he was up to something. And now, trying to lure Lorien into Feraga's paws, no less -- she wouldn't stand a chance. But, instead of rushing down to confront the rogue, she ran back to the cave and told Ina the entire story that she had heard, urging her to come and see for herself. "There's trouble!" she shouted, and started back to the grove; Ina would just have to follow for once.
(OOC: We're posting alot, but so far, it doesn't involve any Feraga players, so no big deal, I'd say.)

Ina watched as Sitama ran to her. She listened to the story before running off after her. When the reached them she turned invisible. She walked up to the pair. "Well, well, well." She started off. "So we are up to something then hmm, Chaza?" She now started circling around the pair, even though they couldn't see her. "What is it you wan from us Chaza?" She asked him curiously. "Why do you want to rish Lorien's life just so you can find your way to Feraga's home?" She then moved right up to Chaza, so that she was staring him in the eyes. "Why?" Was the only thing she said before stepping backwards.

Lorien was just about to get up and show him the way when she heard Ina's voice. She hadn't seen any harm in doing so, they weren't at war yet, and she trusted the male. She cowered back a bit at the sound of Ina's voice, thinking that she had done something wrong. She didn't say anything, but just watched to see what his reaction would be and what would happen after.

Chaza looked up, surprised by the intrusion. "What did you say?" he asked in a stunned voice. He nearly grasped his telekinetic power, but restrained himself; as it was, a powerful wind gusted around them, seemingly threatening to break into a storm. "Risk her life?" Chaza just gaped. Apparently, that Sitama had been sneakier than he'd thought. But she'd also lied about him, or so it seemed from Ina's words. This situation was no good -- he had to get away, and fast. The wind swirled faster and faster, growing into an almost-visible thing which churned in the air around them.
Giving Lorien a sad, almost apologetic glance, he dug deep into his mind...and things began happening, like they always did. The first was that the acacias shattered, their branches crashing down towards the Burja lionesses. A flurry of pebbles rained on them as well, and in the midst of chaos, Chaza watched calmy, waiting to see their next move. If they let him go, fine, he would be all to happy. Resist, as he thought they would, and the results would be...less than pleasant.

Lorien's eyes went wide as the wind began to pick up. She jumped to her feet and didn't know what to do. She saw Chaza's look, and it confused her. Then she understood as the chaos began to ensue. She shreiked a bit as the branches came toward her, cowering down, her head beneath her paws. However, the branches just passed through her, not phasing her in the slightest. She moved to the side as more began to come her way. The pebbles also passed through her solid body and came out the other side. So she had had to use one of her powers as it were. She didn't want it to be like this though.
She looked up at Chaza, a hurt look on her face, as if asking "Why?" without the words. She had trusted him and now this was happening. She felt betrayed.

Ina watched as all this happened, dodging pebbles and branches now and then. "STOP IT CHAZA!" She grolwed at him. "I just want to know what you're up to.. and if you won't tell me that, at least tell me what you want from me and my pride!" She said to him and became visible again.

(OOC. yea your in your own lands...but a tiny slow of pace would help encourage the much slower posters to stick with the story, cus they dont have o scroll like 2 pages to find any Posts that apply to them. some still havent even made their first post ) Xena made her way towards the cave entrance as she passed where Zalira' invisible barrier stopping the wind, she stepped out into the days light, which shone bright off her Black coat. indeed she was not made to be inconspicuous during the day...and in the heat she had to be careful she would not overheat. She climbed up and around the side of the cave, now hopping over boulders that surrounded the cave, until she hopped up and sat perched ontop of the cave entrance, from this high advantage point she could see approaching threats. But this morning there was not a thing in sight, not a thing except a distant figure in the distance..Xena gave little thought to it as she knew it would most probably be another of her pride. She Took her leadership role very seriously, mixed with her own personality it meant she put the lives of many over the lives of one...and that she had risen to this place through the stern attitude and strong grip she had on what happened around her. Xena slowly slid down onto her belly as her gaze drifted to watch the figure in the distance, the heat haze of the Plains making him distorted.

The lioness and the hyena kept walking. The sun was high, and it made the savannah really hot. She lioness held her head low, she was panting slightly. Stardust looked around the area, his purple eyes flashing in the sunlight. "Lets keep a break, Kir..." Stardust said gently. The lioness smiled faintly and sat down. The hyena watched her momentarily, then he digged a small hole to the ground, pacing his paw to it. He closed his eyes, concentrating hard. Soon, the ground under his paw became wet, and after a few more moments, the hole was filled with water. Stardust lifted his paw away. "Drink..." he said, turning to look around. The lioness smiled and lowered down to take a drink. The ground was dry and the water was dissappearing quickly. Soon, there was no more water left, and the lioness lifted her head. It was then wen she noticed something. "Look... There's a lioness..." she said. The hyena followed her gaze and saw a flash of black coat. Indeed, it surely was a lioness. "I wonder if this is some pride's lands..." Stardust said, sitting down and watchign the black lioness in the distance. Had she noticed them already? If not, what would happen when she did? ((OOC: they're seeing Xena, if you were wondering... ))

Sitama growled with rage as Chaza's barrage hit her. She dodged the larger, slower branches, but the rocks and some of the smaller ones struck her, causing injuries that she knew would bruise badly. "You...." she snarled, her battle aura taking over as she ran at hi with intent to kill.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaza watched the lionesses evading his missiles with some ease; he was not trying to kill, in any case. But it was definitely time to make an exit. "I'm sorry, Lorien," he said with an apologetic smile, the calm in the center of a maelstrom. The wind increased in intensity, tearing grasses up by the roots and pushing back the charging Sitama. "Perhaps another time." He bowed slightly, turned, and was borne away with the wind, leaving calm, devastated land, and three very confused lionesses.

Lorien cried out as the winds picked up, but still heard Chaza's apology. She ducked her head beneath her paws again, the grasses around her hitting her in the side. When he left and all was calm and quiet, she stood quietly, a few tears in her eyes. She quickly wiped them away, not wanting Ina or especially Sitama, to see her crying or hurt. She looked to the two older lionesses. She didn't know what to do or think, and she needed them for guidance.

Chaza had hated to leave Lorien in such...abrupt fashion, and in such a violent manner. She, of all the lionesses there, had been one he wouldn't have minded seeing again. Perhaps he still would; for now, though, he had to go. The situation had become untenable, and outnumbered three-to-one, he would have had to resort to killing if he were to survive. He hadn't wanted to hurt any of them, Lorien least of all -- Sitama, now -- but he'd have been forced to it. It was better for him to leave. It was. He told himself that over and over, because it was true. Of course.
He didn't know where he was headed, only that he was headed there fast. Something caught his eye amidst the blur...a cave. Most likely the communal den of the Feraga pride. Perhaps now he would have a chance to taste the other side of the equation. "Well, well," Chaza murmured to himself with satisfaction -- a black lioness was just emerging from the cave mouth. He grinned; then someone else caught his eye: two someones, a lioness and a hyena. Strange-looking, for certain -- multi-colored stars and markings covered the pair -- and how often did one see a lion and hyena together, if not tearing one another's throats out?
He dispelled the wind-tunnel with a thought, setting feet firmly on solid ground. Now for Feraga, he thought grimly. Hopefully he would receive as warm a welcome as with Burja, but just in case, a slight breeze shifted the grasses as he walked towards the cave, ready to become a whirlwind at a moment's notice. "Hello, there, strangers!" he called, not wanting to be thought of as sneaking. "And whom do I have the pleasure of addressing?"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitama just stared for a moment, stunned into silence by the showing of power from Chaza. His telekinesis was more powerful than her own, for certain. But she had been prepared to fight, anyway. Now, she was left here with Ina. And Lorien, now turning away for a brief time, presumably to hide her emotions. Emotions were tricky things, Sitama had always thought. They led to so many...complications. "There, you see, Lorien?" she asked when the young one turned her head back to them. "That's what you get for trusting strangers. Good thing Ina and I came when we did." Even that might not have been enough, had Chaza's intentions been lethal. I wonder if he could teach me to increase my power? Best to put that thought away immediately.
"A spy, from Feraga, as I said all along, Ina. We shouldn't have allowed him onto our lands." Meaning you shouldn't have, Ina, you fool. Xena will hear of us, you can be sure. We should act now, rally the pride, before he tells her everything." She calmly waited for a response from the Burja leader.
(OOC: I'm gonna let my keyboard cool off now, and give some other people time to post up their replies...it's not exactly a war if only one pride is ready!)

Lorien plopped down and looked in the direction that Chaza had gone. She sighed slightly as Sitama's voice reacher her ears. She turned to the other and looked to the ground when she was scolded. Then, as she spoke to Ina, Lorien opened her mouth to say that she didn't think he was a spy, but she decided against it. She thought a beat, and then decided to voice her opinion, as small as it was, to the elder lionesses.
"I think...you just spooked him." She didn't want to see this confusion to begin a war between the two prides. She didn't like to see others fight, and knew that she would have to join in as well if that's what it came to. "I..I don't think..he meant any harm." She didn't know if they would believe her, but she did. Perhaps it was just her niavete, but she didn't see anything wrong with the stranger.

Ina rolled her eyes as Chaza left. "I don't think he was a spy either. But there is something strange about him." She replied to Lorien. "But.. there was something going on.. i think he's up to something..." She added on, pondering about the lion. "Well, we best get back home..." Ina said and let out a sigh. "C'mon Lorien.. I'm sure you'll see him again soon anyway..."

Zalira watched as the black lioness left the cave. She finished eating and stood up, shaking the dirt from the cave floor off her fur. She stepped outside the cave and saw where her leader, Xena had gone. She closed her eyes and concentrated. Just then a big gust of wind picked her up and carried her to the top of the cave. She opened her eyes and stepped off the wind, onto the rocky surface of the cave and sat down next to Xena. "Nice view up here..." She said quietly as the wind blowed in their fur. She saw 3 silhouettes in the distance. "New comers?" Zalira asked with a concerned look on her face.

Lorien went to stand by Ina, glancing at Sitama. She still held what the elder lioness had said about not trusting strangers in her mind, and felt kind of bad for contradicting her. She didn't want this lioness angry at her, for various reasons. She usually went to her for advice if Ina was not around, and she had never went against her better judgement except for now. She didn't say anything, just waited for the three of them to go back to the communal cave. She wondered what would become of Chaza and where he had gone to. She shrugged it off. Perhaps she would see him again.

Sumai had already spotted the rock formation that served as Feraga's main cave, and he quickened his pace; reaching it wouldn't take long. As the firey lion came closer he could spot a black character, whom by no doubt was his leader, Xena. Next to her was a creamy white and grey lioness with some purple-ish hair on her head; yes, Zalira, definitely. The approaching lion increased his speed even more and his paws turned into a dusty light brown and black blur, caused by the high velocity.
With just a little bit left to the caves, he began to slow down and reached them in a comfortable trot. Sumai climbed the cliff and came up to the two lionesses. "Good morning you two." he said and nodded politely at them, standing nearly at attention in the somewhat rigid military way. Old habits are never easily gone...

ooc. Short but sweet!
Bic.
Xena had lowered her head, her eyes drooping as any thought of the distant figure, did not concern her, the heated sun baking her back, her coat getting very warm indeed, sometimes she would utilize her own power of invisibility, it DID at times seem to cool her off..but often took alot of concentration to pull off, so usually just bared the heat...Like she had always done. A breeze wafting over her cooled her nicely, as she raised her head back up, smiling a bit eyes closed, haring a plonk beside her..she opened one eye to see the form of Zalira sat beside her, she took a deep breath and....Opened both eyes very vast as Zailira exclaimed about newcomers.
"Newcommers!" Now raised to her feet, one very fast blur already upon them as she went to move..she saw it was non-other than her 2nd in command Sumai. She breath relief as she cursed she had allowed things to get out of her control, not retuning the Hellos she got as her attention was focused back to where the 3 silloutes were coming from, they seem'd to know each other from the way they were clumped..They could be anyone..or anything..they were not at full strength..they were still missing fire, she snapped into action.
"Sumai..take Zalira and guard the cave entrance..Hold your ground"
With that, she beared her teeth, closed her eyes and focused her thoughts on her powers, her body almost snapping out of view and as she re-opened them, she was invisible..her view now green in colour. She sped down the side of the rock face..now taking a long route to be able to circle round behind the Intruders...Nothing but scattered pawprints to be seen in the dirt as she went.

Stardust's ears perked up. He had clearly heard something. Then a lion had appeared out of nowhere, carried by a strong wind. The lioness beside Stardust gasped. "Wow..." she muttered. Stardust didn't reply, he now concentrated on the black lioness who suddenly had dissappeared.
"Kir... I think they've noticed us..." The lioness shrugged. "So?" she said, looking at the hyena from her eyecorner. "We're just passing by... We mean no offend on them. They have no reason to attack us, have they?" Stardust didn't reply to that. He had seen and experienced a lot. Much more than the lioness.
Then the hyena's ears perked up again. Did he hear walking? Behind himself and the lioness? Stardust turned to look, but he didn't see anyone. he flattened his ears a bit. "Kir... There's someone out here..."

Sitama just listened to Ina's words. She shook her head and let out a sigh; passive, too passive. Too afraid of a conflict for their pride's safety. Why, if they did everything as Ina proposed, it wouldn't surprise her to find them sharing the land with Feraga. That could never happen -- it would never happen while Sitama breathed -- but with Ina in command, who could say what the next breath would bring…or what breath would be one’s last? Lorien respected her opinion, though she gave Sitama equal authority, or so it seemed. If things became…unpleasant…in Burja’s pride, the young lioness could be influenced to her side.
She shook her head again. A civil war just wouldn’t do, too much collateral damage for anything to be saved, especially considering the varying powers of the pride members. But she would not allow Ina’s weakness to rule over her. Strength was needed in these swiftly-darkening days, and only the strong would survive. And she would be one of the strong. “Lorien, if I may say so, Chaza would have killed you had we not come in the right moment. Likely, he would have tried to turn you to Feraga’s side; now we know their ways, and we must strike first, before they expect it!” She motioned Lorien to come closer, drawing back from Ina at the same time, and lowered her voice as if conveying a secret. “She” -- Sitama shifted her eyes to Ina, then back again -- “will lead us to our deaths, if we allow her to. Think on it….” Then she quickened her stride to catch up with Ina, leaving Lorien to her thoughts, content that the seeds of doubt had been planted.
Chaza looked around, worriedly. Where had that black one gotten off to? His wind-running granted the ability to see such tricks at times, but this one had thrown him for a loop. He couldn’t defend himself against an enemy he couldn’t see, and the thought had him uneasy and on edge. “Show yourself! I mean no harm.” Not yet…. He scanned the area, finally seeing the black trickster appearing behind him, appearing angry and defensive.

Lorien listend as Sitama said her bit about Chaza. She looked to the ground, pondering the thought. Would he really have killed her? She didn't want to think it, but what did she know of the outside world? She had never seen an outsider before and surely wouldn't be able to tell what his or her intentions were. With a stern look, she lifted her head back up just in time to see Sitama motion toward her. She padded lightly over to her, taking a glance at Ina beforehand. She listened to her words and sadly looked over to Ina. Would it really come to that if they stayed peaceful? She didn't want to think so, but Sitama could have been right about Chaza. Who says she wasn't right about this as well?
She sat lightly on the ground, looking at the two. Her mind was racing and she didn't know who to believe or who's side to take on this. She tried taking it from her mind, but was not able to. Slowly, she stood back on all fours and sulked behind the two elder lionesses. She would follow them back to the cave and think more about it from there. Perhaps it would resolve itself without a war, yet she highly doubted this.

Ina walked along silently, listening to Sitama's words. "Well before we do anything.. we need a plan of some sort..." She replied to the lioness. "Just tell me your plan.. or whatever you have in mind..." She added on. She didn't want her pride to be in danger, and she would do anything to protect them. Even if this meant fighting, which she wasn't a big fan of..

Zalira watched Sumai apporached. "Hello Sumai.." She said and smiled sweetly at her fellow pride member. She then listened to Xena's words and nodded her head before standing up. Yet again she created a big gush of air that she stepped onto, which took her down to the entrance of their cave. She then waited for Sumai to come down the normal way.

"Sumai... take Zalira and guard the cave entrance... Hold your ground."
Xena's words were short and very clear. "Yes, my Lady." Sumai replied and nodded again. Then the black lioness slowly faded away to become invisible and disappeared, but the red lion could still see some faint pawprints in the dust around the rocks; so he had an idea of where she was headed. He himself peered into the distance, trying to discern what the figures out there could be. The only of his senses that had become less sharp over the years was his sight, so they were a little fuzzy... But Sumai thought he could tell that one of them was a lion, possibly lion-ess. The other was impossible to tell at this distance, so he'd just leave it be... Xena would find out soon enough, and if the newcomers were causing trouble... Then they'd wish they had never crossed this land's borders.
Zalira disappeared down, carried by a gust of wind, and landed below by the cave entrance, now waiting for Sumai to follow. He took a couple of jumps down and landed by the lioness' side, standing in an almost defensive stance. "So..." he mumbled, not moving his gaze from the blurry sillhouettes one inch "what do you think they are here for?"

(done check Pm's only really filled details on our pride as such, but its all your char would know)
Xena had taken the long way behind the intruders...She was careful not to stray to far behind them in case it was some sort of attack...Although she had supreme confidence in her fellow pride's abilities...3 on 2 could only really end one way. With this in mind she changed direction, she had a fix on the 3...she moved closer...using her ability to slow her heart...it allowed her paws to tread with utmost care, her breathing so slow it was if she was not breathing at all. Her view fixed as she slinked closer..so low to the ground...hearing one call the others...from this she knew they didn't know each other...it was hardly an attack...
She was waiting for more to be said to be sure, but One of the Lions turned to look at her..the view he gave her, and the shout...he couldn't possibly see her...she was busted if he could...a lion with such a power would be no end of trouble..She froze in her spot...She dared not move now, silent

Zalira watched the figures in the distance. Still watching them she replied to Sumai. "Well.. they could be just passing by." She said before starting to speak again. Sitama paced around Ina and stopped in her tracks. "We have to rally the pride and attack them, Ina -- our survival depends on it! Listen: we're running out of food at a terrible rate, and even if there was enough, who's to say Feraga won't mount an attack of their own? If we're not first, we might well lose all our land...maybe our lives, as well?" She didn't mention what she had told Lorien, deciding to leave that between herself and the young lioness. She did intend to speak with others about this, though, as soon as they reached home.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaza could see the surprise in the lioness' eyes as he pointed out her location. Then she stood perfectly still, making it near-impossible to spot her, but he still had a general idea of where to look; embracing the wind power with his mind, he caused it to push his voice only in her direction, muffling his words to the ears of the others. "You may as well come out, my dear, before I get tired of this charade." He smiled, knowing that she could likely see him as a plain as day, but he felt confident in his powers to protect him from any unexpected moves.

The hyena and the lioness stood still, watching around and looking for the source of the sound Stardust had heard. But they still couldn't see a thing. "You sure you heard something?" the lioness asked suspiciously, getting a nod as a reply from the hyena. "Yes, Kir... I'm positive of that..." It was then when the two heard a voice speak.
"You may as well come out, my dear, before I get tired of this charade."
The two turned to look at the direction of the voice and noticed a lion stand there, looking at something that Stardust or the lioness could not see. Maybe something invisible was there... The lioness flattened her ears, getting ready to anything that could happen. The hyena, however, watched and waited calmly.

Xena Grinded her teeth. She hated when her well thought plans were overcame so easily. The words of the Lion blew over her, the cold air making her lip corners curl in a snarl, she pondered her move as she ran her tounge over her fangs, her eyes darting over to the Small group of two...A Lioness and a Hyena...what a paring..what did they want here..did they posses the powers this one did..she thought not...or she would have all 3 staring her down. her choices were limited to just one decent course. She upped her breathing and slowly..The Black Lioness came into view, her paws appearing first before her torso and head all coming into full Light. Xena had little time for petty quarrels and the like..she knew what she was capable of. As did most other Lions in neighboring lands. Xena first came into eye contact with a worried looking Lioness, she let her eyes wander lazily over to the Hyena, who seemed less bothered that a large near on 200Lb Lioness just came into view. Xena had no intention of starting anything without her Pride. She slowly took a step between the 3...Her eyes going from the Lion, to the group of 2, slowly as she now padded her way silently between them. Now her gaze was lost to them as she passed, she did not look back, merely keep walking back towards the cave where she left the others, it was not to far..a minutes journey, but she took a risk on turning her back to them..... But it was to hot to care.

Chaza seriously questioned the sanity of this lioness; she refused to answer anything he said, and now she was just turning her back on three complete strangers -- he assumed from her reactions that she no more knew the lioness and hyena pair than she did him. Of course, her reasons were fairly obvious: she was going back to her pride, for there was safety in numbers. But why, then, was she going at a walk?
And what was he doing here, in the first place? Investigating the Feraga pride, of course. But would a full-scale battle right in front of their cave be the best way to do that? He was here to find out about a war, not start one -- though, if that Sitama was to be believed, he already had -- and just wanted to get out of here with his life and tail intact. But something was holding him here; the thought had grown on him more and more as the day unfolded; he was meant to do something important here, but what?
He channeled his telekinetic power briefly, tempted to lash out in frustration, but resisted the urge -- he was outnumbered here, and couldn't rely as much on powers to save him if things went the wrong way. "You're making a mistake," he said softly, walking up slowly behind the black female. "It would be safer just to talk, before...things happen." And things would happen, he could have promised that.
