This is where I'll place the answers to any of the commonly asked questions regarding this RP. They are taken from the soon-to-be-deleted thread entitled "Just wondering..", and also some of my own ideas of things that you might be wondering. These answers are to be taken as official and definitive, unless otherwise stated.
Please note that this FAQ is a work-in progress; some of the answers may change, at which time I'll make a post to inform you of the changes. For an up-to-date summary of the RP's storyline, please see the sticky thread entitled "Story summary" (coming soon).
I'm also interested in hearing any questions you might have. Please address all questions to me by using the "Reply" button at the bottom of this page. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have -- the process for this will involve a PM of the question and answer to the asker, as well as an update to the main thread to include the question and its answer. Your original, "asking" post will be deleted, to keep this thread neat and tidy, but only after the answer to its question is given out.
If you have any questions, comments, complaints, concerns, or compliments regarding this RP, feel free to PM or email me -- I typically respond quicker to PMs. If I don't respond within a reasonable amount of time, and I haven't given any reason for not responding (such as being busy elsewhere; check in the "Bon Voyage" section to see if I've posted a thread lately), you may contact Kirsui, the Head of Fantasy RP and a member of our moderating team here at TLKGO.
Above all, I hope you enjoy this RP, and that this FAQ will prove itself useful to you.

"The Great Battle" -- Frequently Asked Questions
Q1) Who are the leaders of the two prides?
A) When "The Great Battle" began, Ina was the leader of the Burja pride, with Xena handling that duty for their enemies, the Feraga pride. As the story progress, Xena continued her rule, but Ina was deposed by a coup led by Sitama, a rebellious lioness who despised Ina for her peaceful ways.
Things change, however, and both Xena and Sitama have been killed in the war; Burja's leadership returned to Ina once more, while Sumai was been given the command of Feraga, trying to carry on the legacy of his lost leader.
Recently the leadership of the Burjas has changed once again and been given to the lioness Kirsui, a wanderer who joined the pride not all too long ago. Despite her short stay with them, Ina saw something special in her and entrusted Kirsui with the position of leader while she herself retired and vanished into the night.
Q2) How graphic are we allowed to get with the descriptions of violence (blood, wounds, death)?
A) Since the story of this RP is centered on a war between two prides, it follows that there will be some violent encounters, both between individuals and prides. This is only logical; however, there are some rules to be followed here, in order to accomodate the younger RPers (and any parents who might be watching over their shoulders!).
When writing your character's part in a violent scene, you should keep all overly graphic descriptions to a minimum. Blood and injuries are allowed, but we're not running a horror story here, so keep things such as the following post out of the RP:
I could go on, but I think you get the point. While that may be all well and good for the older members (and some of the younger, perhaps), you must realize that not everyone will be as happy with it as you are. I would ask that you show some consideration for others in this area. In short, your violence and descriptions of such may approach the level of a PG film; think Star Wars, not Saw, please.
The process of correcting such graphic posts is as follows:
The long and short of all of this is that, if you keep the graphic violence out of your posts, I won't be required to take any actions directed towards you or your character. Again, I personally wouldn't have a problem with the violence, but we must be considerate of everyone and every viewpoint, not just yours and my own. If you are civil and follow the rules, I'm sure we won't have any issues -- and that's what we all want, isn't it?
Regarding deaths and your characters: Under no circumstances may one of your characters kill another player's character without express written consent from that player. In such a case, you must PM/email/IM the other character's owner and ask permission to have your character kill theirs; if they want the character to survive, then they will; they put the hard work into the character, after all. Any instances of people violating this rule will result in a talking-to for that person.
Q3) Okay, but what about sex?
A) Haven't you read the forum rules?
Any instances of explicit sexual content in this RP will be dealt with in the exact same manner as with violence (see above). And I consider this more serious even than violence; if you absolutely refuse to be cooperative, I'll be forced to bring it to the attention of the moderating team.
Q4) Aren't you being a little hardnosed? After all, we're all mature people...cut us some slack!
Yes, I am being hardnosed. As for your maturity...it's been my experience that what most people refer to as mature, "adult" content is neither very mature or very grown-up in its nature. To call it that is only an attempt on the offender's behalf to make themselves feel better. There are plenty of violent entertainment options out there; and as for sexual content, I think you already have other venues for that, if you want it so badly. Please refrain from bringing your immature, childish behavior into this RP.
That said, though, I am a reasonable person. If you disagree on anything, contact me (either yourself, or through one of the moderators), and I'll take your opinions into consideration. I don't forsee any large changes in the content rules, but anything's possible, I suppose.
Q5) How can we make the battles seem larger? There aren't that many characters in the RP!
I know. For this problem, we've already decided upon a solution: You are allowed to RP as NPCs (non-player characters) during battles and such, to give more life to the lions and lionesses that would logically be a part of the two prides. Examples of this can be found in every major battle scene we've had thus far, and some of these minor characters have even been made "official" by the members who RPed them.
Q6) Oh, my gosh! Look at all of those posts...and so long. What should I do?
If you see that there have been too many posts in a short amount of time by one member (i.e. that member is not waiting, to allow others to take their turn), please contact me and let me know, and I'll bring it to their attention. Do not -- I repeat: do not -- send the member in question an angry PM demanding that they chill out with their posting. That might be fine for some, but many people get angry in return at such messages, and will send back an angry reply...and so on. We don't need those kinds of problems on this forum, so make the moderators' job a little easier and just grow up, okay? As I said, I'll be glad to talk with the "problem" member, if you'll only notify me first.

When writing your character's part in a violent scene, you should keep all overly graphic descriptions to a minimum. Blood and injuries are allowed, but we're not running a horror story here, so keep things such as the following post out of the RP:
Blood flowed freely from the dying lion's side and head as he lay on the now-quiet field of battle. Just moments before, he had been a warrior, killing for the sake of killing, ripping out the throats of his foes and drinking their blood. He chuckled, painfully, which turned into a wheezing cough as the viscuous red water poured from his nose and mouth like a clogged fountain. He was dying. But it gave him a certain satisfaction to know that not all the blood staining his muzzle and coat had belonged to him. Dying. His one good eye -- the other hung limply from its bloody socket -- jerked to his side as the maggots began their feast....
- Your first over-explicit will be met with a friendly PM, asking you to edit the post for its content and to refrain from posting such content in the future -- you will be informed as to what was considered explicit about the post in question, and advised on better ways to say the same thing. You must edit the post yourself, however, or it will be corrected by one of the moderators.
- A second occurance will automatically result in the post's editing by one of the moderators, to make it more friendly to the other users.
- On the third offense, you will receive a PM (not nearly so friendly this time) warning you to cease and desist; your explicit post will also be deleted, and all the hard work you may have put into it will be lost.
- A fourth offense (or a disregard for/hostility towards the rules, at any point in the process) will result in a temporary suspension of your character from the RP; in effect, you'll be grounded. The length of this disciplinary period will be decided between myself and the moderators.
- If, after all of the above have been done, you still refuse to comply with the RP's content rules, your character will be deleted from the RP, and kept out of it until such time as you prove to me that you are mature enough to control yourself. I believe in second chances, but you've got to show that the next time will be different.
The long and short of all of this is that, if you keep the graphic violence out of your posts, I won't be required to take any actions directed towards you or your character. Again, I personally wouldn't have a problem with the violence, but we must be considerate of everyone and every viewpoint, not just yours and my own.
