The winds howled against the grass, and the smell of rain was upon them. The animals seeked out shelter--from trees, to rocks and crevasses and caves. All except one, which stood out on a rock.
The wind blew cold around him as the tears of the sky came forth to water the land.
'Guess i'll have to find another spot to stay warm' the gazelle thought.
The pattering of the ground and the thunderous roar of the sky as lightning streaked upon its grey surface.
Puddles started to splotch the land attempting to devour the plants which grew near them.
'Watery plants for dinner again. Ughh.'
The gazelle squished his way forward. The ground turning into mud.

A young male Lion by the name of Kitwana was out hunting, hoping to find something to kill, anything to kill...he had his younger sister had went many moons without a meal, and it was was effecting them both badly. In fact, the only thing that kept this young lion moving, was the determination within to feed his sister. To the weak lions dismay, the rain had started to fall which sent most of the food supple, as few as that was in the out lands, running for shelter. The youth refused to give up though, the last thing he managed to kill, was an old bird...had that had hardly counted due to the fact that he found it after it had broken its wing, he managed to get his sister to eat it, claiming that there had been two and he had eaten the other, lies, of course...but his sister was too young to have known better. That kill had been more then two days ago by his count, and he knew that his sister would not last long, if he did not do better... Kitwana was starting to loose hope, he prayed to the ones above for help, if they were up there or ever had been...It was then that the thunder crackled across the sky and the lightning flashed causing him to see a Zebra who had stepped wrong into the mud and was stuck. The youth had never had so much hope before for food. "Kaiya." he called for his sister, she was a young cub, her names meaning was 'forgiving', which kitwana thought to be funny, due to the fact, that this world had been anything but forgiving to them. The cub rushed to him as fast as her weak legs would take her "Yes big brother?" she asked always eager to come when ever he called. He looked to her, managing not to cringe seeing her thin form. "Kaiya...I am going to take that Zebra down for us....I need you to go up ahead of it, distract it...keep out of its reach though, its back legs are stuck...I'll take it from behind." he explained to the young lion. She only nodded and took off toward the beast, circling around to come in from the front, so it would not realize her brother coming up behind it. Kitwana watched his sister go, he took in a deep breath, then released it before he started his stalking. Once the little girl got ahead of the stripped horse, she tried to roar, but it was weak and pitiful. The horse only snorted at her as it fought to get out. Kitwana stalked up from behind, his vision blurred from lack of food as his body shivered from the cold rain...but he could not risk missing this opportunity, no matter how wet and cold it was. Once close enough, he jumped digging his claws into the Zebras rump causing it to call out in a pained panic, then to his surprise he was bucked up near his sister landing oddly, he had little time to clear his mind of what just happened when he saw the now free zebra turn on its feet, about to kick his horrified looking sister, Kit pushed off with everything he had jolting toward his sister, pushing her hard with his head out of the way, just in time to feel two hooves slam into his shoulder and ribs, and send him flying into the tree behind him...It was then, that his world went black. Kaiya feeling the hit rolled over herself once, then came to a laying position as she raised her head just in time to see her brother kicked, and the Zebra run off. She forced herself to her paws and called out "BROTHER!" as she ran over to him, pawing his wounded shoulder she cried "Brother, wake up...its gone now, please wake up." she begged making sure not to touch the bleeding hoof wound. |

The rain battered usuki, a moving rock in the vast ocean of the lands. Just then a zebra came trotting out, breathing furiously as if his life depended on it. It zoomed past usuki without even a word.
watch it, im walking here
As usuki looked he noticed mud clinging to his fur.
'Great, now I need a bath. And what was that zebra running for anyways.'
Usuki then trots his way towards where the zebra came from.

Kaiya did her best to wake her brother, but he was out cold, nothing she did could wake him and she feared for the worse, not knowing how to tell if he was alive or dead.
The cub started to cry as she remembered both her mother and father dying, and now she did not know how to help her brother, or was he dead too? She put both of her front muddy paws on his shoulder under his wound "Please brother... please wake up." she cried as she shivered, she then moved to nose his face a couple of times, hoping that would wake him "Don't leave me alone..." she begged. Not knowing what else to do, she turned and ran three feet from him and started to yell...
"HELP! SOME BODY! ANY BODY! PLEASE HELP!" she screamed, he tail between her legs scared and her ears laid back as rain washed all around her making her shiver.

Usuki hears someone screaming for help.
Im coming he screamed back. He rushes to see whoever needs help.
He then suddenly stops as he sees a frail lion.
'should I even help? Lions are big trouble'
He hears the lion scream again for help.
ugh, i better do it, otherwise she'll scream all night and i don't want to hear that when I sleep.
Usuki ushes until he meets the small lion.
can you keep it down?, some of us are trying to find good spots to sleep at. And no one wants to hear screaming while they sleep.

The lioness hear something, or someone coming, and she lowers her head scared, when it arrives, she is surprised to see a gazelle of all things, and he even spoke, did he not realize that she was a lion?
Her head low, her tail between her legs and tears rushing down her cheeks with the rain, she fought to summon as much courage as she could. "I...we..." she started and closed his eyes tight shaking her head once before opening them once more to look to him, her green eyes piercing in the dim light. "My brother, hes hurt...he, he wont wake up and I don't know what to do...can you please help him?" she begged.

I guess I can.He walks towards the fallen lion, cautiously of course, his experiences with predators usually are bad ones. However, as he comes closer, he does see that the lion is indeed hurt.
He inspects the lion
' seems like this one doesn't know how to hunt right, his shoulder is bruised but that's not the worst thing.'
He nudges the lions sides.
'just as I thought, cracked ribs, he won't be hunting for a few days and she doen't look like she can even manage herself without him.
He turns to see the little lion.
He's alright, but he isn't going to be hunting for a few days with those cracked ribs. Right now though, his chances of living will be better if we get him out of this rain.

Kaiya looked to the Gazelle with worry in her eyes, her brother had cracked ribs? how could they eat if he couldn't hunt? she wasn't big enough to kill anything but birds, and they were much too fast....what was she to do?
She lowered her head, feeling all hope lost, where ever they went, was she to watch her brother slowly slip away? "How, do we move him?" she asked rushing over, refusing to give into her fears. She walked over and bit her brother mane, trying to drag him, but that was no use. She had no clue of how to move a half grown lion, even one as thin and weak as her brother.

Hmm. usuki ponders upon the question.
how about this, I passed some trees awhile back, maybe I can pick up some sticks and make a dragger. Its used to carry sick members around. Ill go and get the sticks, just stay with him okay and make sure he doesn't move; otherwise he could break his ribs

The cub looked to their possible rescuer and only nodded. What was she to tell his brother if he did wake? That this creature that looks like food, saved their life? And at what cost was his help to be? It didn't matter now though, the only thing that mattered right now was saving her brother.
She walked over to him, and tried to push her way under his front leg, hoping to lay under it as she had many times before, but he let out a pained growl type noise so she stopped, and walked over to lay by his neck and wait.

The rain finally stopped but the clouds still were grey.
Better get going.
usuki takes the dragger and moves towards the path where the lions were.

Kaiya was glad when the rain stopped, though she still worried for her older brother, she kept close curled in by his neck, but watched around as she heard someone coming.
She then stood "Who goes there?" She called worriedly trying to sound strong and brave.

just me.usuki responded with the dragger dragging along. Well since the rain stopped we should start loading him on this. Here, ill shimmy under his neck and hoist him up, you get his hind legs.

Kaiya looked to the grass eating creature and responded lowly "alright." she then pranced over to her brother, ready to push under him when ready. "alright...I'm ready when you are." she said in a low voice, still afraid.

alright, now let me just..get under his neck and...there. Now we can shimmy him on the dragger.
As usuki lifts his portion of the weight to the dragger
'he's a heavy one, maybe ill teach these lions how to go on a grass diet'
Usuki chuckles to himself.
A few minutes later...
ugh, whew; I got my portion up, now we will both get the rest of him on the dragger.
Usuki comes towards the back next to the little lion
on my count, one..two....three....

Keiya went straight to his legs and started trying lift his stomach onto the drag, but she was nod strong enough, she was struggling trying to get him on.
Once the Gazelle came toward her, he offered a count, and on Three, they were able to move him onto the drag, but just barely. "Eeeeeergh" she noised as they tried to move her brother.

Well, this will have to do, now we just need to find some shelter from the weather.Hmm well there is the thin crevasse down a bit from here, if we just keep going down the stretch we should be able to all fit inside.
Turning to look at the smaller lion.
After we get to safety, you'll need to find food, but you can't hunt and neither can I.
Usuki looks at the bigger lion.
And that one is going to need a lot to eat.
usuki begins to fix himself to the dragger.
'luckily the muddy ground will make it easier to drag him along'
He turns to the small lion as he moves

"Oh..um, my name, it's...Kaiya...my brother, his name is Kitwana but I call him Kit." She answered then stood to walk with him "and yours?" |

Kaiya walked next to him, looking to her unconscious brother in worry, then she looked back to Usuki. "It's nice to meet you." She replied nervously. Shrugging lightly she answered "well, we just walk, and look for food, but it's been a lot harder on Kit to hunt lately, he's not as fast as he stumbles a lot." The young lioness answered. |

well it seems to be a miracle that you two are alive then...usuki thinks back to the zebraso you two were the reason that zebra got mud on me

Kaiya kept her head low, the thought of it all making her head race, her brother had been hurt many times before, but never so much that he didn't wake. "Y-yes...it was stuck in mud, so, I was suppose to distract it, and kit was to kill it....but it broke free and was going to kick me...but, kit pushed me out of the way...a-and took the hit instead." She said tears building with each word as she started sobbing as she walked, looking to her limp brother. She didn't realize that the same kick would kill someone her size.

In his condition, he is lucky to just have a few crack ribs; if the zebra hit him any harder and his ribs woukd have been broken.
I've never had a broken rib, just a cracked one but i've heard from zebras that its worse than being corned by hyenas, cheetahs and lions.
Usuki shakes his head deeply. I hear that its the worse thing that could happen, well besides waking up inside a lions den.
'I've had too many of those.' He thought.
Well, the good news is that we are just a few paces from the crevasse. Usuki points his nose towards the crack in the wall.
Let's just hope no one claimed it.

Well, lets just make sure he doesn't do anything besides breathing, eating, and resting. It will be a couple of days before his injury heals. he looks at kaiya.
We are just a few jumps away from the crevasse. Go check it out and make sure its clear to use, we don't want to make a confrontation in these conditions.his head tilts towards kitwana as the example.
just peep in and smell the cave, if you smell anything like trouble, i want want you to roar twice so i get the message to run. If its clear, come out and raise your paw so ill know its safe. Usuki stretches his hind leg.
ill be taking a rest from the dragger by doing some stretches, my back is killing me--uh..metaphorically speaking.

The little girl lion nodded, unsure of what she might run into, "roar twice for danger and raise a paw for safety, got it." She nodded "alright then let's do it." She said and turned to run feeling bad for the food helping them. He was working hard to help them, but why?
The lioness rushed ahead, making her way to the hall, sniffing around.

It was not long after she left, that Kitwana groaned "K-Keiya..." He murmured as his eyes slowly started to flutter open.

hi sleepyhead, just stay calm and if i were you, i wojkdnt try to get up.
Usuki points his head to the lions side.
you had a nasty accident with a zebra, luckily you only have some cracked ribs but it could turn into broken ribs if you try to move. Kaiya is looking into that cravesse to make sure it's safe inside.Then we can get you inside and figure out what to do from there.
He then points to the crevasse for kitwana to look at.
we're just waiting for the signal.

Asmodeus // Talking to Usuki + Kitwana} He'd make an entrance somewhat unimpressively for a creature of his graces, yet he supposed upon this day he merely wasn't interested in the whole grandeour unveiling. He was tired of walking, the feel of terrain under his paws was not something he'd miss for a long shot, yet when one could be described as a renegade vagabond the man supposed it was best not to complain and more so blame his situation on the Gazelle he spotted a little ahead of him with what seemed to be a lion? Whatever was procurring from the scene was mildly amusing to him, a smirk plastered across long features as he'd draw a little closer. "Herbivores should take no heed to their killers dear man." hed purr his pale gaze narrowing inplementing a sense of hostility to his tone "Who is this patch of felt and its accomidator?" he'd add bluntly. Gesturing towards the less fortunate of the two with a lazy toss of his paw.

Well hi, I'm uzuki, and the one with the paws here is Kitwana.
the gazelle points to the crevasse that's a few yards from him.
Is that your cave? We need to use it for kitwana, he has...
The gazelle pauses and turns back to the lion.

Kitwana slowly looked to the Gazelle, not understanding why it was there or how it knew his name and condition...then when he spoke of Kaiya it made since, his sister went looking for help. "why...why is food..." he then stopped speaking when he heard the new lion breed approaching. The youth slowly looked to it, and started to slowly trying to push himself up. "The Gazelle is none of your concern...If we have passed into your pride, we will leave...so speak your reason for being here.." he said knowing that he could not afford to look weak.
