Name: Good Luck
Species: Lion
Age: Older adolescent (18-19 human years) Age can vary in RPs.
Gender: Male
Character roles: Hero/Fallen hero
Description: Good Luck is a young male African lion. He is skinny, with long arms and legs. He also has large paws. He is rather tall for a lion, but with a lean build that is not bulked with muscle. His tale is long and whip-like. He has large, expressive eyes and his eyebrows are wide, arching, and suggestive. His stare is intense and penetrating. He sometimes gets a vacant/dreamy look in his eyes as he is distracted easily. He has a lopsided smile, and his toothy grin is often times somewhere between wolfish, mischievous, and fixed. If he were human he would best be described as elf-like. His claws are most often times unsheathed. Good Luck has a rather pale pelt for a lion, but he is not an albino. The color of his fur is slightly off-white, and could best be described as a pastel cream. His paws are an even lighter shade of cream. Good Luck's mane is long and ragged and the color of dark brown sugar intermingled with even darker shades that are almost, but not quite, natural black. His mane is often windblown and it curls out in short strands. His mane isn't fully grown in however, so this can sometimes make him look rather scruffy, especially on his thin frame. His eyes are beautiful and vivacious but they are two different colors, meaning he has Heterochromia iridium. His right eye is a bright jade green while his left is a very pale hazel color. Both irises are flecked with gold. He is a very handsome lion. His eye shading is a dark brown-tan that can often give him a haunted look as there is no difference between his upper and lower eye shading.
Behaviour: Good Luck is a schizophrenic and possibly bipolar. This means that he suffers from a severe brain disorder in which he interprets reality abnormally. Good Luck suffers from visual and auditory hallucinations in which he hears and sees things that don't exist. Sometimes he only hears voices and other times he only sees hallucinations. He is also rather paranoid of others, though this does not usually inhibit his ability to interact with other lions even though it can take him a very, very, very long time to get used to a stranger. His visual hallucinations often speak to him and do not often have harmful intentions though they will sometimes encourage him to play mean tricks on others or do terrible crimes. He has three hallucinations that he has seen since he was a cub that are, as odd as it seems, his companions and as such he has named them. Other hallucinations are often similar and do not change their "physical" forms. He only has one hallucination that is completely malevolent, and it seems to speak in a thousand voices at once. Thus he feels as though he is being spoken to by a thousand different voices that slowly build up to a cacophony of screams. This terrifies him and when he sees it he will often stop talking or even run away at random. Thankfully this particular hallucination is not common.
He will often carry out full conversations with his more friendly hallucinations and to those that do not know him this can make him seem incredibly insane. Good Luck does not believe he is insane though since he believes he is perfectly capable of functioning (maybe not normally, but in his opinion close to normal) in his environment. He will sometimes burst into outrageous fits of laughter for no reason, feel he is constantly being watched (ex. constantly looking over his shoulder), completely lose his concentration, or say very irrational things at random or have an irrational response to a situation.
Good Luck could also have bipolar disorder. He will sometimes go into a manic episode in which he will have racing thoughts, rapid speech, inflated self-esteem, increased recklessness/irritability, and extreme happiness. Other times he will fall into a fit where he will be overly tired, and lose interest in his activities. These fits are uncommon for him and when they do occur it is usually for two days or less. It is more common for him to go into a fit of mania.
Aside from his mental disorders, Good Luck is mischievous and highly intelligent. He enjoys battle and fighting with others. He can be arrogant and cold when first introduced but genuinely cares about others. He is very aloof and he is very distrustful. He does not like sharing his food and is disdainful of cubs although he enjoys being ridiculous among them. He enjoys wandering away from others and will often disappear in the morning and return late at night. He enjoys causing trouble and will often times only assist others when he knows he will benefit from the situation. If he sees a lion in a state of desperation however he will assist them if only to get them on their feet. He does not enjoy acts of cruelty. He is sociable for a schizophrenic and will often enjoy interacting with others, especially since it amuses him to see the look of horror on their face when he engages in talks with his hallucinations. He enjoys being irrational and coming off as crazy to others.
History: Good Luck was adopted by an older lioness when she found him unconscious in the heat of the dry season. The lioness, named Nashana, took care of him and told him that he was sent to her to bring her good luck, and that he was a gift to her from the heavens since she had longed for a cub of her own, but was barren. Thus, Nashana named her son, Good Luck, that he would remember that he was blessed by the heavens and a sign of good fortune to his "mother". The two had a very close relationship. When Good Luck first began to see hallucinations Nashana took care of him and helped teach him to function with his disorder. He can now manage some parts of his disorder but not all. When Good Luck grew into an adolescent his mother was killed by a pride of starving lions who thought she had been trespassing and stealing their prey. Good Luck was devastated and grew up a rogue for the rest of his life. He was already distrustful of others, but his paranoia increased. He believes that his mother wished him to benefit others and overcome his disorder. He travels now attempting to control his disorder and make her proud though he can sometimes fall prey to his desire to cause harm and trouble.
Hallucinations: These are the hallucinations Good Luck has seen since childhood.
Ryebone: Ryebone is a large silver-maned male lion with a pewter pelt and sharp, golden eyes that seem to glow. He is aggressive and often encourages Good Luck to engage in fights and acts of violence. Ryebone is not malevolent and is often times the one most concerned for Good Luck's safety. Ryebone does not like Anouk. He could be a sort of father figure for Good Luck. Ryebone is more commonly an auditory hallucination and will often whisper in Good Luck's ear. His voice is deep, rough and powerful.
Anouk: Anouk is a tricky female lioness with brilliant purple eyes that seem to glow. She enjoys manipulating Good Luck and causing him to play tricks on others and stirring up trouble, however she is also the one hallucination Good Luck has the most control over (in terms of ignoring her words). She is more commonly a visual hallucination and her voice is like velvet. She has a habit of slurring her words together.
Morning: Morning was the first hallucination Good Luck ever saw. He is a small lion cub with a kind face and bright blue eyes that seem to glow. He is compassionate and good-natured and will often give advice beyond his years to Good Luck. He does not speak often but when he does even Ryebone and Anouk will listen (even though they might disagree with what he says). His voice is that of a small child and he will sometimes sing Good Luck to sleep. Morning is in equal parts both an auditory hallucination and a visual hallucination.
Akar (The Shadow): This hallucination has no common form. It is simply a darkness with bright red eyes that seem to glow. It frightens Good Luck beyond measure, since it will seem to appear out of no where when he least expects it. This hallucination will sometimes simply stare at Good Luck, and even when he turns his head the hallucination will still appear. It will sometimes take the form of a wildebeest and chase Good Luck down, a great black lion that will attack him, or a black wolf that will try to tear out Good Luck's throat. This shadow was named Akar by Nashana. Good Luck has a hard time resisting the horrific things this voice commands him to do. In Good Luck's mind, Akar's voice is made up of a thousand different voices all intermingled together, and it can first be identified by a slow whispering sound that slowly builds to a scream.
